Thoughts After the Death of Charlie Kirk
SABRES 0311 replied to Taro T's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
Alveda King had some nice things to say. -
See my post above. What I want and what I see are two different things. The Bruins have already moved people around. Zacha has been at center and wing for example. The Bruins spent the entire second day doing one on one board battles to which Casey Mittelstadt said "I've never done those that much any camp. It was hard but I enjoyed it for the most part". I think the focus they have is completely different. Looks like they plan to grind and grind hard. Probably a decent plan as their scoring ability is suspect to say the least. Putting Zacha at center is a major surprise though. Most people figured Mitts would be there until Poitras was ready to move up. Now nobody knows where Mitts ends up as the third line looks like it's maybe Jeannot Kuraly and Eyessimont. Minten is also pressing for a center spot. Beecher (their Krebs last year) is going to have a hard time keeping his job. Ultimately my main point is you line up a roster the same as the year before and your results are likely to be the same too. Bad teams shouldn't be set in camp. Period. If they are, the organization has failed before it starts.
-
To the first, my comment to Lindy would be why was that not done last year when you first got here? Why don't most of these guys already know your defensive system? Or why was there no defensive system last year? To the second part, I'm saying this illustrates the flaw and the lies. They have said they want internal competition and they claim to have depth. And yet, the line up is basically set and like last year so where's the depth? Where's the competition? If you are making these claims shouldn't we be seeing something to that effect? So since we aren't, we can see that they are just lying. So I am not arguing against myself because although the situation I want is competition for jobs I fully know that doesn't exist. Doesn't mean I can't want it though or say that's how it should be.

At least into the 00's. Don't recall how much further back it'd go.

Canadian friends Finger Eleven in Buffalo at the Town Ballroom on Thursday. Can’t wait!

No. This team can't stay afloat with average or worse goaltending. That's been my point for years about Adam's waiting for UPL/Levi to develop strategy. I posted this before, but it deserves to be repeated. Here are the Save % for our 4 goalies in the NHL last season. UPL - 55 games .887 save % Levi - 9 games .872 save % Lyon - 30 games .896 save % Georgiev - 49 games .875 save % NHL average goalie .893 save % When an average NHL goalie is your best option in net for a team desperate to make the playoffs, the GM has failed the organization.
-
How far back does traditionally go? Back to Lindy’s first run?
-
Even with the debacle of a game today lol we are in good shape to lock it down Sox fan? Ya they should get in

Came to this thread to look for this exact post from you. Nailed it! I did not think the Jays would still have the best record in the AL, but here they are. Hoping the Sox can hold onto a wild card and get invited to the dance. Gotta sweat it out for eight more games.
-
I know you’re pessimistic on this team and that’s fair, but it does matter. Are you betting on Lyon to be NHL average and keep this team afloat until UPL is ready? Actually, I just kind of threw up in my mouth a little. Maybe you’re right and it doesn’t matter. For the record, I would roll with Levi and hope he can catch lighting in a bottle. And I know hope isn’t a strategy, but it’s where we are at.

Low expectations.

Did the Broons reporters share lines from camp? How is that any different? There have to be lines. The Broons coach has some he wants to try, I am sure. It seems kinda absurd to vary your lines day-to-day, you never build or see chemistry. I get that the Sabres are frustrating, but being upset (hopeless? disappointed?) because you don't like the lines Ruff trotted out day one and two of camp is probably a bit much, no? And we know from many past seasons that the "second line" won't necessarily be used the second most ,etc, etc ...

Robertson is from northern California. Absolutely no connection to southern Ontario or WNY. So why is he "targeting" the Leafs and Sabres??? -

OK. Team ‘Lanny’ has dropped out Taro T and Turbo44 you’re in. Dudacek, you’re the spare forward for now, so if I don’t hear back from NorthernKentuckyHilltoppers by tomorrow night you’re in. Please provide me with your emails (by DM if you prefer) and I’ll send you invites.

Does it matter? Which of the four were any good last year? Lyon had the best save% of .896. I guess that makes him the favorite for the starting job.

Sorry, had missed your reply earlier. (Was not intentionally ignoring what you'd said.) It's possible. It's also possible she'll be able to do so. Guess it's a good thing her fiance is rich so she won't have to wash her own vegetables if that is an issue for her. But the quote that spurred my initial post was one that said essentially that she couldn't lead a normal life (whatever that means) and that it would necessarily hang heavy on Rasmus' mental state (apologies to the OP if those are mischaracterizations of his intent). Personally don't believe that anybody leads a "normal" life; but they can and likely will still lead a very rich and fulfilling life. Who knows, perhaps they end even closer and understand better than many of the rest of us just how precious life is because of how tremendously close she came to losing hers. No doubt it'll be difficult, but they'll have access to the best medical teams on 2 continents and they know, or should, that all of the 10s of Sabre fans that still remain are all pulling for her and sending prayers and well wishes. With his will and what she must have, her body refusing to fail for what was reported as "hours of CPB), expect her to have what we'd consider a "normal" or perhaps even extraorinary life when all is said and done; even if it turns out to not be quite as long as the average. (And personally hope she lives far into old age.) Personally expect that they'll find the positives in this tragedy and still lead that "normal" life. Life ends up what you make of it. And really am not looking to be creating strife in this thread. Apologies for any brought on.

Very tragic and upsetting. I hope Dahlin is able to recover spiritually, mentally, and emotionally from this, as well as his betrothed. These are the kind of events which can awaken a person to a more complex, distinguished perception of what it means to exist - sometimes it allows them to find a higher level in their art (hockey in this case), sometimes the person sheds what becomes seen as unimportant relative to their existential state. Rasmus is too young for the latter to be nothing but yet another cruel twist of fate so I pray that his experience is the former.
