  1. Past hour
  2. Miller might be a bottom pairing guy on a good team but (assuming Byram is moved) he'd be 3rd best D man on the Sabres. Nobody wants Samuelsson unless we eat contract (which we won't) and Rosen has little to no value. You can make a Jokiharju for Nylander type deal with Rosen but otherwise he's a throw in. KA waited too long on moving him for real value. You want value for prospects they have to more unknown upside like Savoie had. So sure, I'd trade Samuelsson and Rosen for him but that's not going to happen and I'd trade Rosen and Samuelsson for a bag of pucks anyway.
  3. What are you talking about? I have already said McLeod was a good deal but we needed to make more of those. Zucker was fine but didn't really move the needle. He was a mid level aging forward with an injury history that devalued his worth to many teams and so he came here when we overpaid him. Okay, that's fine, but it wasn't anything miraculous. It was a usual underwhelming free agency. You've got used to a very low bar my friend. Adams is in his 6th year and he still hasn't filled the glaring holes on the roster. You know the second he realized he might be drafting Power he should have been searching high and low for a veteran D partner for him. Should have made that happen regardless of cost. But no, we're just going to have "development years" and let these guys flounder and develop bad habits. Sure, why not. Fly little birds fly, be free! Ridiculous franchise. Ridiculous GM.
  4. Good analysis. I saw more of him a couple of years ago than I did last year. Then, I thought that he was a promising player. And as you noted, at times he stood out more than Fox because of his physicality. But as usual, after time you settle down to being what you are. I would be willing to deal for him but wouldn't give up major assets for him.
  5. It's only "sometimes" because mostly we just aren't in any conversation. We are irrelevant to them.
  6. I think Pronger was much dirtier for big D men. Scott Stevens ended people, period. Just ask Eric Lindros. Nurse is really dirty. He doesn't get the scrutiny of Bennett because he plays with McJesus, but he is incredibly dirty and the dirtiest D man in this final series.
  7. Simple solution: pasta and more pasta. That'll bulk him up in no time. He's a young fellow but a little red vino won't hurt him. However, if he drank as much as my father did, his face will be red and his sentences somewhat garbled. 😁
  8. Is that what happened with Reinhart and Eichel? I guarantee you if we do not get substantially better this year Dahlin will demand out.
  9. They can choose muel or Clifton. And I’m not adding picks or prospects. Think miller is well overrated.
  10. He wasn’t exactly Owen Power either
  11. Today
  12. Alcaraz and Sinner are 22 and 23 years old, have both held #1 rank, and have now taken 6 consecutive grand slams in a row between the two of them. This might be the start of one of the greatest rivalries in sports.
  13. Chara, while never bulky was the strongest player in the league while he played.
  14. Rosen and second round pick for Miller.
  15. I think if Adams said hey you can pick your staff... but Mr Pegula likes these guys and really wants you to take a look at them... fine... but if there was someone he wanted badly to add and couldnt last year that should have been a red flag... HOWEVER after "looking at them" for a full year with this disastrous season I see one of two possibilties... Lindy wants to make changes and cant... or Lindy actually believes that this level of performance by his assistants was acceptable... either one is damning of Lindy... the last and final option not Lindy's fault was they said... go ahead Lindy, hire who you want... and literally no one wanted to come here.... that is a distinct possibility and even more damning of our situation.... bottom line ... not good no matter how you look at it.
  16. If you can't even acknowledge that some of the moves that KA made were good moves, then your objectivity is overwhelmed by your preconceived view of him. As you well know, I have little regard for this Howdy Doody GM. But that doesn't mean that I'm not going to have the objectivity and fairness to give him credit when he does something that is right. When you get to the point where you are locked in with your position without considering a contrary view, then we have reached the point of futility. The deal for McCleod and acquisition of Zucker were good deals. Although it is acknowledged that it wasn't enough to move the needle to the meaningful zone.
  17. It all depends on their frame. Some frames have the ability to add enough bulk and some don't.
  18. From Fairburn in his Sabres' combine summary article, McQueen and his camp said that the secondary injury last season that took him out of the lineup after he'd returned from the back fracture was a muscle strain related to said fracture. There shouldn't be long-term effects from it, and he completed a full testing at the combine. He could be fine. His potential is among the highest of the forwards and he probably doesn't make it to 9. I'm not sure it's wise to let him get past 9 (even if Martin were still on the board). He's almost as big as Thompson but is a legit center, not a winger, and although he's not flying out of position to go hit people, he's plenty physical.
  19. I can’t see how an 18 year old can’t beef up in 3-5 years. 6’5 185 is pretty lanky, more suited for basketball.
  20. US Open golf this week at Oakmont, near Pittsburgh. I can’t get enough of Majors. All of the top guys are playing well except for Rory McIlroy who has had a big dip in form since his Masters win, almost like an extended hangover from completing the career grand slam. Scottie Scheffler is the overwhelming favourite but this game is unpredictable. You’re not going head to head vs a competitor, you’re playing against a field of 150+ others and vs Mother Nature. Thrilling finish to the Canadian Open, Ryan Fox needing 4 extra holes to beat Sam Burns.
  21. In 2010-11, Crosby played 41 of 82 games. In 2011-12, Crosby played 22 of 82 games. In 2012-13, Crosby played 36 of 48 games. HC DDB was able to get that Penguins team to finish 1st, 2nd, and 1st in their division because the roster wasn't just Crosby. The GM was doing a good job, too.
  22. Isn't he the Rag that spit on Tuch a couple seasons back? Audette and Muni seemed to be able to coexist on the same team.
  23. We will trade for him, he will lose his passion for the game and we will trade him to a team that wins the cup. Next.
  24. Yup. As even as you could ever see and then when Sinner got broke on the 1st serve of the final tie break that was it. But learned that in the 5th set (at least in the final round) the tie break is to 10 and not just 7. Was surprised when Alcaraz didn't go nuts when he got to 7-0, but the announcers quickly mentioned he was then 3 points from the championship. Would hate to draw a Spaniard in the French. Seems like an automatic defeat, as even the best player in the world can't close the deal there. 2nd longest final in a major in the modern era.
  25. Sometimes? There should be a list of Adams faux pas that every GM must read on day 1. Thinking back to year one or two after the Pegula purchase, when there was actual hope, there was something on twitter - #Blueprint. Almost comical to think about that today.
  26. That was somethin' else!
  27. Nice...but the mens final was one for the ages.
