  1. Past hour
  2. Ellis had a back issue
  3. 10% more physical? It’s all I asked. Baby steps and maybe he gets there.
  4. I acknowledge that what follows is presented “in defence of UPL”. Not as a blanket defence, though. I’ve clearly seen, as we all have, that his game has fallen apart since Dec/Jan of last season. What remains to be seen, for me anyway, is whether the game in Toronto is a new season one-off or an extension of last year. Can he get his game back? Anyway, here goes (all GSAx stats from MoneyPuck): - Since 20-21, the year UPL first played an NHL game, he has played in 156 games, that’s about 38% of “goalie games” by a Sabre goalie in that period (not just games started, but any appearance). UPL has played the most of any goalie. - In that time, Sabre goalies are -45.9 in GSAx, or they have given up 46 more goals than expected. UPL is -8.1, or 8 more goals than expected. So, on balance he has outplayed the field. - For some context, in Eric Comrie’s time in Buffalo, he had an GSAx of -9.8, while in his time in Winnipeg the year before coming to Buffalo and the last two years, he is a combined +15.1 - Further context. In Ullmark’s Sabre career (going back long before UPL debuted), he was a combined -29.1 in 117 games. Since he left Buffalo he is +73.3 None of this is a reason to play UPL now. The goalie playing the best needs to be in the net.
  5. I see my work here is unfinished. I bolded ATM for a reason. Maybe it's too early for those types of references.
  6. Timmons has been a solid pickup. He knows who he is as a player and stays within his limits. Not flashy but consistently solid. I expect more offensive production from Kesserling than from Timmons.
  7. Fear not . Get out of the closet and walk tall. We do not judge, at least those who of us who are enlightened and tolerant. I think you look great in red. Just a kind recommendation: please shave your hairy arm pits. Yuk!
  8. Go Blue!
  9. Today
  10. The people planning Frozen Frenzy so there is more of a chance there is always some game to be showing
  11. Timmons has 24 blocked shots good for 12 th in NHL
  12. Hmm. Why the hell have been thinking they were in our division? Thanks Agree about the wildcard bit though.
  13. Umm. Yes?
  14. Blue Jackets are in the Metropolitan Division, not the Atlantic. Important, though, from the standpoint of potential wildcard down the road. Take two, no loser point for Columbus, please.
  15. I hope Kesselring can go because we need some reinforcements. Lyon better get the start and Buffalo will need to be sharp early against a young but talented Columbus team.
  16. I don't care about Worthy. I do care that Beane seems to refuse to use multiple high end assets to find wr. He just scrapes the dumpster and adds whatever free agent he feels like. Meanwhile other teams spend 1-3 round picks on wr. We've drafted Coleman, that's it. Shakir was a 5th, and I can't think of another wr picked early. Wgr was right to question Brandon Beane about how he values the position, because he clearly doesn't.
  17. OK, well is probably too strong of a word. They haven't been our biggest issue on defense. That was Dahlin and Byram. I also think they've been improving the more they played together. Timmens was awful in the first period of the Florida game (which is when I think they started pairing) and got benched for a few shifts and moved off of the pair until Bryson got hurt. I think they've been trending in a better direction though.
  18. I'm not confident Worthy will have a long career given he's still high school sized. But in a world where giving 2nd contracts to skill position players is only going to be reserved for top tier talent, it appears to be a major miss. Josh covers a lot of Beane's warts, just like Brady did with Belichick. He hits on later round picks like Deone Walker & Christian Benford but misses on early picks like Elam, Coleman and possibly Sanders. A team with a lot of money tied up in QB, OL & defense; they need to hit on the early picks as they are going to be relied on to come in and start immediately.
  19. What are Power and Timmons doing well with? 😀 Let's go Buffalo!
  20. The 4-4-0 Blue Jackets are in town with a strange 6:45 start time to take on your 4-4-1 Buffalo Sabres. This game is the 4th one to start in tonight's all 32 team Frozen Frenzy on ESPN2. Games start at 6PM ET and stagger every 15 minutes or so until the last game starts at 11 ET. Another division conference game (that could have implications on the wildcard at the end of the season) and ideally the debut of Kesserling. Who will he be partnered with? Power was the pre-season expectation but he seems to be doing well with Timmens atm. Meanwhile Dahlin and Byram got broken up so maybe he slots in with one of them. And what of our 3-headed monster? Who gets the crease? I'd give it to Lyon. Let's Go Buffalo!
  21. Allowing Andy Reid to get his hands on Worthy and then drafting Coleman appears to be one of Beane’s biggest blunders as GM.
  22. It's the fact that he must be accounted for, sliding help to his side. Now rice, kelce, etc etc can get free/have more room to work. Ain't not one D worrying about Coleman, we've seen D this year just put a CB on him and forget about him for the game. Maybe he's being used wrong, but he just isn't that DAWG this team needs. Worthy however would absolutley be an upgrade to the passing game.
  23. Ughhhh Little shouldn't pitch again, awful awful.
  24. *0, DNP, DNP, 83, 42, 20, 35, 53. One touchdown. 🎉 Those are Worthy’s yards each game in 2025. You can be down on Keon while also being honest about Worthy.
