But they play bigger then they are and they are very physical. They do not get pushed around and are not afraid to give their own bodies up. You are right, size is kinda relative, but physicality is not. We have a team with way too many purse swingers!!

Kadri has a no trade clause in his contract. It's very likely that Buffalo is on that ignominious "hell no" list. If approached by his team asking for permission to be traded to Buffalo, what do you think his response would be? When Marner was on the market how much interest do you think he had in considering Buffalo as a destination? I'm confident that it was zero. Fantasy hockey is not real hockey. On the other hand, there are players that might be available in a sensible deal. A player such as Rust would fall within the realm of being realistic. Another issue is whether our GM is open to making additional deals this offseason? My sense is that he is not inclined to do so. I would like to be wrong because another second-line player would surely be beneficial.

That's why it is so important to sign Bryson. The swap of JBD for Timmins needed to be counterbalanced.

Sabres Announce a 10 year extension for the naming rights of Key Bank Center

Wasn't he a quarterback who played at Alabama and then won a SB with the Jets? -

Sabres don't know how to win period. Making the playoffs is the first step in learning. Long term goals don't mean anything when you cannot win enough games to get into the playoffs. Also how long are these "longterm goals" 12 years, 15 years, 20 years? This is the only NHL team that seems to think like that. The only longterm goals I have seen from this team is to be a great farm team for other teams that want to win NOW. The second every other team gets a new GM and HC they are trying to win ASAP. Not the Sabres though it all about longterm winning... except it never has a start point.

A lot of the allegations do seem rather unsavory. But one that they made a huge deal over is essentially a fact of life for youth hockey. If you want to play in a tournament, you WILL have X% of your team stay in the approved hotels which do kickback to the tournament host organization. Not saying it's right. Just sayin' it is what it is and it goes on in rink rich regions like WNY/CNY as just as much as it does in central Texas. While it may not seem right, it does bring significant money into many organizations that are 501(c)7's (or is it 501(c)6's?) and really does help keep costs down for those organizations. USA Today makes it seem that the Stars do not use those monies to help defray costs for their participants and maybe they are correct about that. And if that's the case, that is wrong. But all the local organizations in upstate NY run their own tourneys and everybody knows that part of their organization's funding comes from those hotel arrangements. (And you have to play in your own organization's tourney to get more teams involved (even though obviously there is no travel / hotel stays involved in that) and everybody knows you'll stay in the hotels that are tied in with the host organizations for other tourneys when you choose to play in them.)

UPL is not it. Levi still could be. GMKA made the wrong decision extending UPL. GMKA’s career depends on Levi making the jump in 26-27. As a Levi truther, I’m optimistic. He’s been elite in ROC. But that does not help us get into the playoffs in 25-26. Fire GMKA! -
It isn’t your point, but a small slice of it, to say that if you replaced Kadri with Rossi —then I am all in. There will always be a long term outlook with the short term in mind. Kadri could hamstring us in the long term…Rossi given his age may not. Like it or not, the franchise decision making must be longer than next year’s roster. I want to make the playoffs in 2926, but that’s not the long term goal. The sabres are not winning the cup in 2026. You have to realize this.

And the problem is right there in bold. It should be a make or break year for Kevyn Adams, he is lucky to be employed as an NHL GM. I’m quite certain no other NHL team would hire him as GM. Dahlin and Thompson should be long term building blocks. This bull$hit of players asking to leave and getting accommodated must stop. I don’t think you will find anywhere in my posts that says they did little or nothing. I don’t think they did enough but if all the stars align, and they stay healthy, and a bunch of them have great years then who knows?

You are correct. This is a make or break year, not so much for Adams but for Dahl's and Tage, and probably Tuch if he takes a wait n see strategy to resigning. But I think this off-season has been markedly different from the rest of Adams tenure. There has been a change of philosophy from the fast and skilled Granato model that peaked two years ago when they reached 91 points and just missed. Now the focus is on toughness and being harder to play against. Jarmo Kekalainen must be having something to say about it. I also think Ruff is adding his two cents as well. Every player except Lyon has fit that mold. You may not like what the Sabres have done this off-season, but to say they've done little or nothing couldn't be further from the truth.

I’m sitting down for fantastic four right now. I’m so glad the two newborns aren’t in my theater. -
Why? They have an internal salary cap. Why? They aren’t committed to winning. Why? Because younger and cheaper is the motto of the franchise. Why? Because they have never given out a long term deal to a veteran player. Why? Because under Adams they have traded away every productive forward when their contracts came due (Eichel, Mitts, Reinhart and JJP) downgrading the talent on the roster each time. Why? They still have a ton of dead weight contracts in Power, UPL, Norris and Samuelsson. If the Sabres were committed to keeping Tuch, the deal would already be done. So much for “wants to be here”
