  1. Past hour
  2. Everything I see shows Skinner's numbers accelerating next year to 6.44 I got my numbers from cap wages also.... I looked just that next year. That also doesn't include Tuchs current contract. Unless their data is incorrect... But I don't think it is because they've had those numbers out for quite some time now.
  3. Benson is absolutely a pleasure to watch play, especially because he's our guy. Less of a connection because he's so new to us, but I think you'll agree, Doan has been equally fun to watch.
  4. I partly agree. Until Adams and Ruff are gone we are not making significant progress on a sustained basis. From that angle, it’s not worth fretting over. I do think that Dahlin and Thompson are definitely foundational players for a GM who has the skills to build a team. I love Tuch, but would not quite place him in that category.
  5. This is a great post but I think there's a couple issues with the numbers. I came up with similar totals on the forwards spend, but it includes Tuch's current contract. So you can't take the entire 10 mil from the numbers. It would be the difference between 4.75 and 10 mil. I show Skinner's hit to be 4.44 next season, not 6.44. So in just those two, there's an additional 6.75 mil. IMO, there is a path to sign all 4.
  6. I enjoy Chad D’s stuff, and he is right on Norris (in my view they should not have traded for him, let alone relied on him to be their #1C). But I think his comments on McLeod and Krebs are an overreaction. The focus should be on the GM, HC, and coaching staff. I understand the desire we have as fans to assess the skills and attributes of players, but outside of the very obvious (Geertsen, Bryson), there is just no way to properly assess what a player is in an environment so poorly constructed and so inadequately structured.
  7. It’s the NHL, so whatever the worst outcome, they will choose it.
  8. Both games scheduled for Saturday night at same time. Since venues are only two blocks apart, the logistics of it will be interesting.
  9. Today
  10. Would Minnesota be interested in Quinn? I know Quinn and Rossi were teammates in the OHL. Were they linemates? Not sure what could come back from the Wild. Even at his advanced age, would be nice to see Marcus Foligno back in the fold.
  11. I still want to, and do have patience with Power. I just know that it seems like too many D-men in the league...you look up and say "yeah, that guy is pretty darn good" but it took to age 24 or 25 to get there. Quinn I was done with last year. He is showing nothing. Even if he put in 20-24 goals this year, its not good enough with his black hole of play in every other way. And my opinion on Tuch is the same as it has been for the last 2 months: short term extension I'm OK with. But something like $10million at 8 years...heck no. The team still needs the chance to add some talent, or if you get a young guy that is legit good, to lock THEM up. I don't want a guy starting his new contract in his early 30's to take so much money that it prevents either of those things.
  12. I finally figured out my Tuch issue, motor. His motor runs hot and cold. Some shifts he skates hard and goes after pucks, others he kinda floats around the ice and really loves to glide with the puck on his stick. I was honestly shocked to see he's got 4pts on the season. He needs to be better, the entire team isn't good enough. Except Zach Benson, that dude is a joy.
  13. I'm seriously starting to question Tuch and what he supposedly brings. We're 6 games in and I can't remember 1 play of his that was like "oh yea he's good". Maybe defensively he's been decent? Offensively, plays die on his stick and he doesn't win battles at anything close to an impressive rate. I'd trade Owen Power. I'd trade Jack Quinn. Maybe I'll regret that stance but Power doesn't play hockey in a style I like and Quinn seems incapable of recovering from his injury or playing at a better level.
  14. Oh ***** you haven't heard? Geertsen protects our guys and helps them play tougher. He's some sort of magical unicorn who sucks at basically every aspect of nhl hockey but he's big and will drop the gloves so that makes us tough and hard to play against. Never mind he can't win puck battles, gets almost 0 ice time, and barely hits anyone because he's a lumbering turd. He's big! He might fight! Other teams fear him!
  15. Its hard to think of losing your top players like Tuch, maybe Thompson and Dahlin, and others, when the team comes off of a win or a streak of 3 wins in 5 games. "What would the team be like without THOSE guys". But then you have to remember, if they are your best players, you are are still losing, still not sniffing the playoffs, how much of a help really are they? And do you want to 'overplay' (or even pay them on the 'high' end of fair value) just to maintain the level you are at? I like Thompson, I really do, I think he can be/is one of the elite goal scorers in the game. Tuch (right now) can be on the be better 'all situation' wingers in the league. Dahling has the talent of a top 5 D-man in the leage and SOMETIMES plays like he should be in contention for the Norris. But the truth is, none of them do it enough or maybe they just aren't as good as I (we) think. I'd LOVE to have all of those guys, and other guys on this team be locked up long term IF the team is winning and a legit playoff team. But for me...it no longer makes sense to fret/worry/bother about their future here on a team that is what it currently is.
  16. Thompson, I don't like he's not scoring but he is streaky. He ended up with 44 goals last year but had a 5 game goal-less streak 3 differen times through the season and at least 1 or 2 streaks where he didn't score for 4. Sure, Tage and Tuch eventually might get back to their 'regular' form, and start scoring goals that cause you to tie a game like last night and get a point, or maybe even win it and get 2. But....how far behind everyone else will you be by then? Its still early, but they are already likely a 4 game win streak away from 'getting to' that LAST playoff spot. Seriously, winning the next 3 games gets them to 10 points in 9 games played...which is a pace for 91 points for the year, that probably doesn't get you to the playoffs. If they win their next 4 in a row, they are at 12 points in 10 games...a 98 point pace that probably does. Its WAY too early to have to be thinking of 4 game win streaks just to get into 'probable' playoff position.
  17. Talk about not funny!
  18. I meant by his ability to will the team to victories. Not verbally approached Beane. The question is more about Beane’s ability to recognize the talent in the moment.
  19. On to next game. We win the rest against Habs this season. Some relief from injury hell would be nice though.
  20. No. His body positioning was decent. The entire team had terrible puck management. My only issue is he reverted back to playing like a fourth forward at times.
  21. Absolutely terrible on the defensive side. They gave way too much space to their forwards for the first half of the game. Defensive zone giveaways (counted or not) killed them. Seemed half the game one of two DMen were caught in the O-zone. Lucky that didn’t blow the game open for MTL. Offensively I have one question. Do Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch still play for this team? Thompson had a couple good moments and Tuch was non existent in this game. When the Sabres applied pressure MTL had glaring defensive breakdowns. Sabres couldn’t make that a regular thing because of pucks bouncing off their sticks or making off balance passes that killed plays. Lyon again gave this team a chance and they ****** him. Edit: I give Thompson credit for dropping the gloves. Second game in a row Dahlin was literally attacked. At some point Dahlin needs to fight back himself.
  22. I don’t think Adams has the intelligence to realise the Canadiens are better.
  23. Sorry to destroy your buffet table.
  24. I think the Dodgers may sweep them though... Hope I'm wrong, but they are a wagon
  25. Exactly! Why wasn’t Östlund in the lineup? It’s not like Dunne or Geertsen help the team win.
