IMHO he plays passive hockey because, in part, he's not naturally tough.

Toughness isn't the issue, pace is. He plays passive hockey.

Adams - delusional They needed to move on this off-season.

Thoughts After the Death of Charlie Kirk
Hank replied to Taro T's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
Do you use beenverified or something different? -
More focused camp this year with less distractions, that's good Lindy and staff know players better, that's good They really want to be better defensively and tougher to play against, let's hope Big focus of team chemistry, we'll see.
-
A big jump in toughness? I just don't think it's in his DNA. If it were, wouldn't we have seen at least glimpses of it by now?

They have a 1OA, 1OA, 4OA, and they're most excited about Kesselring... a 5th round pick who was a 3rd pairing guy in Utah -- who played up in the lineup last year because of his team's injuries. But Kesselring spent the bulk of his time with Ian Cole, Sergachev, and Olli Maata -- three guys whose play in their own zone would place them #2 behind Dahlin on the Sabres blue line. Now, Kesselring has to elevate and cover for his partner, rather than the be the guy who is free to just play. (Unless he's paired with Dahlin.) It's an opportunity for Kesselring, for certain. But it's also very much a big pipe of hopium.

Lindy keeps talking about what a great off season the players had. Hopefully they are a stronger more mature team and we don't see those late game collapses, as we shouldn't
-
That makes more sense then. Thanks.

Greenway week-to-week..., eh? This lineup looks less likely for opening day.

There is so much cap space available next summer. Every UFA should take it to 7/1/2026. It's silly cap space, because teams didn't use it this year. A team could sign McDavid and Tuch. And their competitor could sign Eichel and Kaprizov. Sign with the Sabres for $9M this year... or $11M next summer. Or... and here's the fun part... go get join a winning franchise instead. (And I know they'll all just re-sign with their current team for less than they should.)
-
If Power can't pull it together, the Sabres need to consider moving on next June.
-
Wow, we made it to opening of camp!
-
And IIRC isn't allowed to sign a contract until after October 15.
-
Tuch and his camp knows how bad it’ll look if the Sabres don’t resign him and they are probably using that in negotiations. There’s probably not going to be a hometown discount for the hometown guy.
-
Any word on if they'll be in the MMArena or at Harbor Center Thursday morning?
-
Crap continuity. It’s all the rage.

“We were crappy and I wanted us to continue to be crappy”

Hart can’t play until Dec. 1

It’s a shame we still have the same defence coaching in place.

The Hopium Den: 10 reasons why the Sabres could be better this year
dudacek replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
This is nice folo to the first of the 10 reasons (Tage). Don’t think it was posted elsewhere: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6602800/2025/09/07/tage-thompson-olympics-4-nations/?source=emp_shared_article “It’s (world championship game winner) one of those things that was an awesome moment and something that I’ll remember forever, but at the same time, I don’t believe it solidifies me. I still think that (I’ve) got to obviously have a great summer and carry it over into the season and use that for the first half of the season as a trial. But I am motivated to help my (Sabres) team win and to make the Olympics. “It definitely will be there. It’s hard not to think about it. But when we get into the grind of the season, not that you forget about it, but it definitely maybe goes to the subconscious or the back of your brain a little bit. Like, I want to be an Olympian, but getting the Sabres back into the playoffs is always at the forefront -
I'm expecting a big jump from Power this year in toughness and play.

They asked Ruff about his assistants and he said "I wanted continuity"
