I think Lindy will keep Geertsen as an extra forward, he had him in NJ and wants someone who can “address situations” like Rob Ray.
-
Making a difference and making the Sabres are two vastly different things
-
You'll have to explain how this statement affects things. Adams brought in this 5 years down the road thinking more than anyone and he should have been fired but he wasn't so we are where we are. We can't not behave like a proper organization because of it though. Tuch is valuable, but he's not THAT valuable.
-
Bills are competing with themselves at this point and time, they control their destiny by just winning.
-
I was asking what that had to do with the topic at hand: the Tuch extension. Was the poster saying negotiating an extension with Tuch was somehow emblematic of the Sabres the past 14 years? That's why I'm confused. Are we supposed to extend him? Not extend him? Extended him 5 seasons ago?
-
You were responding to the question of what situation was the franchise in, also relating to the Tuch issue. You may be in a fantasy land but most of us are reacting to the harsh reality of the state of affairs of this franchise.

The D is lost

Last week I was mildly chastised for posting that the Bills would never win a SB with this defense. I want to retract that statement because Josh and the offense can outscore any other team in the league. As Taro points out they might be the only team that can put up 31 points and look mediocre doing it. If they win one it would be in spite of the defense, not because of it. What we’ve seen from the defense isn’t just a one game issue or a four game issue. It’s been a five year issue. Same problems even with the resources they’ve been throwing at it. Hell, an 0-3 Saints team just ran for almost 200 yards today. I’m not sure if it’s scheme, execution or personnel … or all of the above. I hope with some guys getting back it can make a difference. Time on task may help too. The Bills have the luxury of an extended seven game ‘preseason’ schedule (save the opener) to right the ship. I really hope they can. I want to go home for a parade and I sure can’t count on the Sabres.

It’s looking like Baltimore is officially not competing with the Bills for the 1 seed anymore.

Because we are negotiating with Tuch??? I'm not following you at all. Is this a thread about Tuch's extension or rehashing the drought? I thought this was a Tuch thread. My bad.

Injury update, Sept 26, 2025: Samuelsson minor injury
JoeSchmoe replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Unfortunately his contract isn't so expendable. -
A generation of not making the playoffs when nearly half the teams qualify.

The biggest laughingstock failure in all of sports?
-
Blue Jays win the AL East pennant! Europe wins the Ryder Cup! It's been a good day.
-
What situation are we in, exactly?
-
We are in this situation as the biggest disaster of an organization in league history largely because of "Five Years Down The Road" thinking. Ignoring the present directly leads to not having a future.

BANG!

Lecyshyn and Geertsen aren’t going to make the Sabres. Seen enough of both of them in Vegas/Henderson to know that neither are going to make any sort of difference,
-
Spencer Brown was clearly missed. Both of the 1st 1/2 sacks were likely due to him being out - the 1st one Jordan simply abused Van de Mark and the other one, Torrance got caught cheating too much to his right expecting to need to help Ryan and the stunt left him in no man's land. The good news is that apparently they were close to having Brown play today so he should be in against the Cheats next week. And, getting 31 points in a game where you were awful for an entire 1/4 without getting any particularly short fields until the very end, even against a bad team, is pretty impressive. As for the D stinking against the run, hopefully getting Hoecht into the lineup will help with keeping RBs to get the outside. Bosa's a great pass rusher, but he wasn't quite there on at least a couple of long Kamara runs. And the other guy hopefully will help too.

With Samuelsson injured, real good chance for Johnson to start the year in the top 6. Actually prefer that to Jones taking that slot all things equal as Johnson's still on the upswing and Jones is what he is.

Winning ugly. Not our best and win by 12. Meanwhile, the Chargers... the media darling, lose to Jaxon Dart in his first NFL start. Go Ravens.
-
I think that's pretty extreme. The cap is going up but so will ALL the salaries. 10 million is still a lot for him. Peterka signed with Utah for 7.7 . He's younger, he had 68 pts. Tuch had 67. Now you can argue that Tuch brings leadership and other factors but to get from 8 to 10 is a lot. If it's 8 years that makes him 37 at the end of it. Since they are still negotiating I'm assuming there is no hometown discount in play. The right number for Tuch is 8x8. That overpays him in the last 3-4 years but it's fair since he's valuable now. The because it's the Sabres overpay number is 9x8. So this is the number where you say win for the Sabres win for Tuch. 10x8 or anything higher will help close the Sabres window before it's barely open a crack. Bad idea.

Got to love the easy wins. GO BILLS! Chargers lost and now we watch the Colts.

Bills making NO look like a contender. Yeesh.
