  1. Past hour
  2. Sadly, this behavior is not surprising as more and more people in modern times harvest our children for sexual exploitation and are becoming more publicly outspoken in defense of such practices. From power elites to common citizens it appears to be spreading all over. While I know the victim will never be he same I hope they can recover enough to live a healthy, happy life. Just sad.
  3. Quinn, Samuelsson, and Timmins have all been better than I expected them to be. They’ll need to keep it up if we’re going to make the playoffs.
  4. While I stand by my early season approach to not get sucked in by the most recent success until they are still sitting in a playoff position come Jan, the next 2 games I think are a good litmus test for whether this team may actually be different. Can special teams(penalty and PP) continue their current successful %'s of play? Can/will the team defense improvement continue and/or improve more with Kesselring inserted into the top 3 pairings? Is more goaltending improvement possible with the 3 headed goalie situation that will play out over the next several weeks? Will the coaching approaches and or decisions that play out in all the above questions support or hinder what we have seen in the last 5 games? They have my attention but not yet my trust. Lets go Sabres' be a team I can enjoy again.
  5. I thought Kesserling would be with Power. Is the plan to ease him in at bottom pair?
  6. I'm not expecting too much from him tonight. As a third pairing player in this game his workload is going to be somewhat limited. What most of us expect/hope is that he will soon be paired with Power and put him in a better position to flourish. TBD.
  7. And hopefully Kesselring starts contributing tonight
  8. Today
  9. Sabres projected lineup (NHL.com) Benson -- Kulich -- Thompson Doan -- McLeod -- Tuch Zucker -- Östlund -- Quinn Dunne -- Krebs -- Malenstyn Samuelsson -- Dahlin Power -- Timmins Byram -- Kesselring Lyon Luukkonen
  10. They made it to 11-9-1 after a Reimer-led win over San Jose last season (the 3-game California sweep). They got home, Luukkonen was great in a 1-0 loss to Minnesota... and they lost the next 12 as well.
  11. Let's Go, Buffalo! When's the last time this team was @deluca67 .500? Been a long time. I don't think they ever were last season. (For those who don't know: @deluca67 .500 is sort of a "true" .500 measurement -- e.g., a record of 4-4-1 is actually a record of 4-5 and is therefore not "true" .500.)
  12. I’m happy that Buffalo made the trade for Doan and Kesserling. But I’m also sure that as Utah sits on top of their division with an 8-2 record that they are happy acquiring JJP. This was a fair and good trade for the dealing teams.
  13. I believe that's a Confederate Uniform. But the 100th New York regiment was from Good old Buffalo https://museum.dmna.ny.gov/unit-history/infantry-1/100th-infantry-regiment
  14. I'd give Luukkonen a two-week conditioning assignment of 3 AHL starts to ensure he was back to health and recovered properly after each game and saw a variety of shots and net-front traffic, with... oh. Now that the monster exists, I guess Ruff just rides the Llyon (a Fflam never falters!) into the ground and then pick your poison on the two guys who've been sitting around barely used for weeks. If you try to go with a 3-man rotation, even with the condensed schedule, none of them are going to get into a groove. But what they should do: Dress 'em all! Treat them like pitchers. Lyon starts every game. Luukkonen gets the 2nd for the long change. Ellis gets all penalty shots. Luukkonen is on the bench during PP/PK where you need stickhandling/passing and then the reactions to handle shorthanded breakaways/rush chances. Switch them on the fly like a regular line change. Revolutionize the game.
  15. I don't know what his basic analytics were in that Detroit game, but I was so impressed that Ruff kept sending him out there against Larkin. He's a really nice role player. And I love how he scored that goal against Detroit -- charging toward the net.
  16. To be fair, of the forwards drafted #9 (Savoie) or later in the first round, only Nazar (13) and Kulich (28) have made any difference as of yet. And after the 1st round, only Poitras and Hutson have done anything in that class. Savoie will get that shield down, we gotta give him more time.
  17. Yes we did.
  18. His name is Lyon
  19. I didn't change the discussion I simply asked a question. I appreciate your follow up, so here's mine. If both teams improve, would you say the team that improved less lost the trade even though they improved? If there are two winners in the lottery and one person won more than the other person it doesn't make the other person a loser does it? It just means they did not win as much. Win/Lose is a finite discussion. But, if both teams can improve, then are we moving out of a finite discussion? In the end, it's subjective so mostly it's just not a conversation worth having especially as the difference between outcomes gets closer.
  20. Hoping a quick return to health for Kozak. Last season, the team looked better with him in the lineup and that has continued into this season. And he needs a Star Wars name.
  21. They do need to draft better, although 3 of Adams' drafts are much too early to bother counting in any top 150 list unless it was Celebrini. Adams' flaws in his early drafting (underweight skill/finesse reaches with almost no grinders selected)... are well documented. However, specific to this top 150 list the more important thing is to look at who is on that list. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6755065/2025/10/28/nhl-player-tiers-roster-building-trades-drafting/ This is nearly all established players (except Celebrini) and high-end scorers. But if you were starting a team, would you consider Erik Karlsson as a top 150 player in the league to build your team around? I wouldn't. Eichel, Reinhart, Ullmark. Adams traded them away or didn't offer an extension going into the UFA season allowing them to walk. Who is on the Sabres roster from the Top-150 list? Thompson (pre-Adams), Dahlin (pre-Adams). That's it. The real issue is trading away two top-50 skaters and a top-10 goalie and getting (thus far) nothing close in return for any of them.
  22. Why ? This is a very fair question and it’s reasonable to keep the best D first pair together since it’s working. The reason I reworked the pairs was to help Dahlin and Power defensively. Both have struggled so far this season in our zone (not a surprise w Power, but shocking with Dahlin) and I wanted to get them someone to help defensively.
  23. My Dearest Rachel, I take pen in hand this evening by the dim light of a tallow candle, hoping this letter finds you and the children in good health and safe from all harm. It has been some days since last I wrote, for the fighting has been fierce and near constant, and the noise of the guns gives a man little peace to collect his thoughts. The field here is a cruel sight, my love. I have seen men I marched beside since the first muster now lying silent upon the ground, and others borne to the rear with wounds so grave I scarcely can bear to look. Our company has been sorely tried — nearly half are down with wounds or sickness — yet those who remain stand firm, hearts fixed on the cause and the thought of home. Still, we have not lost our spirit. Word came down yesterday that fresh troops are on the way from the North, and supplies, too. When we heard that Corporal Kesselring and Captain Greenway were en route, the men cheered loud enough to wake the heavens themselves. The officers tell us that with these reinforcements we shall soon strike a final blow, and that the end of this terrible business may at last be in sight. Kiss the children for me, and tell them their father fights so that they might grow up in a land where the West of NY is feared and not a laughing stock of the other regimens. Keep faith, my love — victory is near, and I shall soon hold you again. Your devoted husband, Major General Tage Thompson 100th volunteer infantry regiment
