I'll get in on that, too! -
Are there major changes coming this summer and who will make them?

I could be very ok with that. -

I haven't looked at the Sabres cap lately so I don't know the numbers, but if going 3 years, I would offer him as much as I can, SHORT of causing problems with re-signing Tuch and Benson and McLeod. If I can get those 3 locked up (and Bryam and/or who you get for Byram) and then STILL have money left over for Tavares, spend away. That $4.4million cap hit for Skinner this year and the $6.4M cap hit for his buyout next year kinda stinks right now. - Today

It's all just so horrible. It seems that the Sabres don't even play in the NHL. They're just there for other teams to grab our young developed talent and gain two points while laughing their way out of town. I honestly don't blame the players past and present who want to get TF out of here. Maybe Jorma can bring some meaningful change, but given the direction of this franchise. I doubt it. They have a horrible reputation with players around the league. Terry has to sell, but he won't. We all just have to pray he gets lucky like he did with the Bills. Depending on luck is a lonely place to be. It sucks, but they did this to themselves.

I'm sure the Sabres are "listening" to offers for Peterka, but only so far as to see if anyone wants to get stupid with a package. But I think it's 99% JJ is a Sabre for years to come. It won't help things is he becomes a distraction. It's in his interest to play his best and keep his value high. -

I want to keep JJP and have often stated so. But from a stylistic standpoint they are very different. Zucker plays a more rugged and physical game. Zucker is also a much more responsible two-way player than JJP. He is also arguably our best player at the net. JJP is a faster north/south skater with a better shot. From an offensive standpoint JJP is more potent. These players have different skill sets and both are needed. -

Yes. His name is JJ Peterka. -
Oh there's no reason to worry because you can rest assured Sabres will do far less than you expect (or want). That's pretty much an annual thing. The only major shake ups come with new GMs who get to tear down and start over. Every year we see rumors of trades involving Sabres and I think it's safe to say every year every team comes in like vultures and they kick the tires to see if anybody is available or if they can get a player for picks and prospects and why wouldn't they? 99% of those calls though are going to go absolutely nowhere. Byram will likely get moved as they won't want to meet his price for what he is. idk if they will get a good player back or not. Talk lately of Philly being interested. I'm not personally interested in anybody on their roster aside from Michkov, Sanheim and maybe Konecny none of whom are available. If it's somebody like York plus no thank you. Peterka disgruntled? who knows. Likely moved. We likely lose that deal. I have zero faith in Adams being able to do anything substantial with this roster. There's an old adage in the NHL. Tearing down and selling is easy. Building back up is hard. Adams has proved that is true one more time.

TF? It would be pretty easy to argue a lot could change (I won't definitively say it will, since I am not a mystic soothsayer with the ability to see and/or predict the future) ... for one; the "they never make the playoffs" stink could come off - leading to coming off a NMC list or two? Attract a slightly higher tier FA? I won't be so bold as to predict a Bills-like turnaround since the Sabres don't have a JA17 just yet (nor do i think "franchise-altering QB" translates to the NHL unless we land another Hasek?) Players have hope for once in their miserable careers that staying in Buffalo is not a death-sentence? Instead of wilting like delicate flowers in a heat wave the following spring, they gut it out and make the playoffs again? This time with some added confidence and experience? The city and fanbase can let loose with a small sigh of relief that maybe, just maybe, they aren't actually cursed? I know we are all down on what is going on ... but to imply nothing would change if they made the playoffs? A bit hyperbolic, no?

Sounds like Leafs and Tavares are far apart. What kind of deal would you offer him to come in. 3 years at $7.5 million? -
Forget about NHL ever coming back. AHL? Those franchises are getting harder to acquire. ECHL definitely. They'd come to Buffalo. 1,000 fans at KBC...maybe. They can tarp off the upper deck. Buffalo would be the biggest city with the best scoreboard in the E. 😂 Since you brought up entertainment maybe a team in the Federal League? Lots of gooning it up.

The desire for chaos in the absence of any actual news. That's a little too obscure for Vegas books. But I'll take that action. What are you betting? Even money that Jarmo Kekalainen is still with the Sabres on July 6? 💸💸💸💸💸 -
They ended up getting a kid in THAT one too. One more similarity to this squad.

And that same someone wanting O'Reilly gone is a substantial portion of why this nightmare won't end. Don't punt O'Reilly, don't give Reinhart more time to think about how good it would be to be elsewhere, and then Eichel doesn't ask out of here. You'd still have Dahlin to go with them. Give Ullmark a LT offer at the time Reinhart should've gotten one and he likely doesn't bolt either. That's a nice core to be building around. Oh well. Maybe this next try with only altering the players and not those choosing the strategies they'll be attempting to implement will be the charm. (Is it already February 2 again? It seems like it was just yesterday that it was here. And the day before that. And the day before that. And ...) -
And then there’s the new additions to the front office that could potentially need some time to fully weigh in. If we make it halfway into July with next to nothing happening, then we seriously need to talk.

A friend of mine was told by someone in the know who made the call not to lock up Sam long-term even though Sam wanted one. I think you can all figure out who made that call (Hint:There is a reason Botts got another GM gig and nobody in the league holds his tenure here against him). -

These kinds of metrics, while interesting, don't necessarily paint a complete picture. How many teams overall have been involved in the transactions? How many transactions are those that realistically the Sabres would not have been involved in? (ie. Toews in Winnipeg). I would discount all re-signings as those tend to occur throughout the summer. When looking at re-signings you have to consider the category they are in.. are they extensions of a player with 1 year left, a UFA, an RFA, etc. The most notable are probably players with 1 year left on the contract. Of that only Tuch is the real interest. Sure Clifton is in that category (as is Lafferty). A sit stands, it takes two to sign and I have no doubt those players have all said effectively, let's see how you improve the team before i decide to commit in Buffalo. So it would make sense no transactions have been made there. The UFA class is James Reimer... they aren't signing him now. The RFA class we know well, but they won't make qualifying offers until the Monday after the draft I would imagine. Overall I think the LACK of transactions is more indicative of the potential to make a move. So I'm not worried at all right now, any more than I remain unconvinced this owner can ice a winning organization. So why worry?
