  1. Past hour
  2. Why? Lindy typically goes with the hot hand and I thought Ellis played very well the other night (outside of the shootout). Ellis, in my opinion, gives them the best chance to win at this point in time.
  3. I once bumped into Stevenson at a restaurant in Chicago. Not much else to the story, but I always remember that when his name comes up. I also bumped into John Muckler at a bar in Chicago when he was still the Sabres GM. Had a great conversation with him. He was wearing a very nice gold watch with a Sabres logo.
  4. I will accept pretty much only TaroT's answer... was Doohickie correct to say Sabres home games at one time started at 7:30 on a regular basis?
  5. No. We're last in the conference and 4th last in the league... we don't have adequate anything.
  6. So, wait. It's OK to refer to the University of Pittsburgh as Pitt but not OK to call the city of Pittsburgh Pitt? Pit, however, is good.
  7. I'm going to try to be a fan again tonight. I went with no show white socks instead of heavier grey socks along with the cozy red and black lounge pants (it doesn't matter that it's not a red and black night). And shirtless of course. This should work.
  8. 8, the answer so far has s 8.
  9. Is Kesserling expected to be out for the season? As you and others have pointed out, this team is starting to have depth and internal competition. So when injuries inevitably happen, the replacements can adequately fill in.
  10. Today
  11. The stats literally give you information about what happening on the ice.
  12. So we have no backup D if someone gets a hangnail during warmups. We'd have to skate 13-5. I think Kozak might be okay in the 3rd D pair.
  13. During the drought, he was the one coach that actually had a winning record (9-7, but still) when he got fired.
  14. I should have posted a pic of McD instead because my joke was completely over your head. Jauron and McDermott werenโ€™t the first two coaches to tell us how hard it is to win. Coaches in every sport have uttered this at various times.
  15. Any truth to the rumor that the Steelers will be filing elder abuse charges against the Bills' defense on Rogers' behalf?
  16. You can get lost in stats, and stats guys will never agree, but it's what you see on the ice that really matters. You can see the differences clearly if you watch other games with better teams and what they do compared to what the Sabres do and don't do. That's the comparison for me.
  17. Stats will never give you the answer. The difference between winning and losing always comes down to effort at key moment, discipline, good coaching decisions (and a good system), leadership to rise to the occasion, attention to detail so you don't make mistakes, and just the will to give it your all and get it done. None of that will show up in stats on zone time or shooting percentage or goals for or whatever. Those are just interesting overall assessments. What really matters is effort, and effort at key moments.
  18. We need to get him under contract after this season.
  19. On paper you see a good team. On ice it translates to 38 SOG and getting shut out once a week
  20. Keep in mind that everyone in the 1970s just looked OLD. Jean Stapleton and Carroll O'Connor were 47 when they filmed the first season of All in the Family. They looked 20 years older than I look today.
  21. Hot Lips Houlihan ainโ€™t too shabby but my recollection of her far exceeds reality. Funny how the brain works.
  22. So, 3 pretty balanced lines you can just roll out there one after the other.... And then a real traditional 4th line.
