I get it.. I get it!!! I think Doan is the kind of player who is more effective in the playoffs. The sad thing is he needs to be on a team that gets in the playoffs.
-
We liked Peterka... so it's really a question of whether the team will keep him around long enough to find out. 🙂 I like Doan, he certainly comes from a solid family. I was just checking in to see how hot and bothered people are getting over this. Is there an equivalent to the little blue pill for being a Sabres fan? I just can't get it up for this team.

Why was he only playing 11 min. per game in the playoffs ? -
That actually sounds like a fun line

This is the thing. Intertextuality. This move will be evaluated based on what came before (nothing great) and what comes after. If the Sabres actually use the cost savings they've achieved, and the players they've added help round the roster out, then all of a sudden this specific trade looks great. But right now the cheese stands alone.

Quinn, Norris, and Kulich each need to be over 20 goals this season for it to not fall apart. Entirely possible, if they're all healthy. But this means that McLeod and Zucker would need to have follow-up above average seasons. The real question is the cap space. The cap is going from 88 to 95. Will the Sabres remain $8M clear like they've been doing? Will they stay below that with a severe internal cap and try to make it by spending only $84 (move Byram and bridge the other RFAs)? Or will Adams put on his "we have all the resources we need" pants he's been claiming to own and pay up to 95, minus the Skinner hit?

I have been raging for grit and size talent attitude combination... getting Rossi makes us smaller... as much as I would like to bite... I gotta go with I like the prospect of having people on this team that will engage people with purpose who knows if any one of us is right, time will tell... maybe we should have... but I think I at least like the acknowledgement that there needs to be some aggression in the line up.

Lot of people on here pointed out that if they were bringing in any “good” forwards, they had to create both cap space and roster space. The Peterka trade does exactly that. If we thought our GM had a clue, and our owner spent money, we’d probably be anticipating that’s exactly why we picked Doan and Kesselring over Kyrou. Hope it’s better than the Penguin rumours, but I might prefer that to the money being left unspent. At least Peterka and futures for Rust, Kesselring and Doan would constitute trying to be good this year.

How would Sabres fans feel if the Sabres traded Mattias Samuelsson and Peyton Krebs to Utah for Logan Cooley or Dylan Guenther? If you said, "Heck ya!" then you know how Utah feels today. The Sabres invested $1.00 in Peterka and received about $0.72 in return. Hopefully, it will work out in the long term, but I am a little underwhelmed. I have no problem trading Peterka, but I hoped for a more significant return.

I'm okay moving Samuelsson elsewhere and that $4.28 million salary used on some that deserves it. -

Well the good thing about less talented and good players is we don’t have to pay them as much (I’m sure that’s coincidental) That they are inexpensive is neither a reflection of their value nor the reasons we traded for them. PURELY coincidental
