Ruff is the HC. If the assistant coach is constructing a system that isn't working, then isn't it the HC's obligation to intervene and require an adjustment? The same responsibility applies to the system on the PP and kill units. If the system isn't working, then he is the one that should require a change/alteration in systems. If the assistant is so inadequate, then why wasn't he replaced this year. There is a hierarchy of responsibility here. If the HC isn't satisfied with the performance of a particular assistant, then he has the authority to replace him. Or does he really have that authority to make the change/s? HCs have different styles of coaching. Some are dominant in all phases of the game and others are delegators. Each coach has a system they are comfortable in. But let's not forget that ultimately the assistants are accountable to the HC. If the HC is comfortable with the status quo, then the problem lies with the HC. That's how I see it.

Historically, he does bug/defect triage and works only the priority fix, rather than manage the entire deployment, which is his role. His product is under budget. But he’s never reached a milestone and hasn’t deployed a product (to playoffs/market). At some point you’d think the investors would wonder where all their dollars have gone to.

Yes, but your original post was a reference to the PPI was it not? And the point being that there are other times in history, not under Trump, when the PPI was higher, much higher in fact. The point you did not acknowledge is that a percentage increase is often used as a misleading way to make something sound more relevant than it would be if looking at the actual numbers involved. In this case, the increase is significant, but the actual number is below what it has been many times prior and under a different administration. The economy is still messed up and it has been messed up. COVID messed it up pretty good and it's not stabilized itself yet. The significant changes in administrative direction have only exacerbated those issues.

What I would like to see are those troops telling Trump to stuff it. It is indeed a sad day and absolutely disgusting that a man who should be arrested the moment he leaves Russia is not only allowed into the United States but then has American military bowing to him to roll out a red carpet. I don't think it should be as dismissed as that phrase. This era of entitlement hasn't always been so severe. It should really be no surprise that there trend continues to grow where everyone believes the world is suppose to confirm to them. Despite Burger King's marketing ads, you can't even always get it your way at BK. There are limits. The growing trend of people being disconnected from reality is disturbing. The ease with which people just harass others because of their own failures is ridiculous. But, everyone wants company when they are at the bottom and it's easier to tear down others than build yourself up. The problem is that we allow it and lord knows given the connected world status it's easy enough to find a group that supports the behavior to allow even greater justification.

Who do you think is? I mean, he's the consistency between Granato and Ruff. His coaching is what allows opponents to stand between the defender and goaltender, consistently. And yeah, we can go back through different coaches, etc. I'm not interested in dissecting the pre-Kevyn Adams era as the team is barely the same. Right now there are a lot of issues but if you start from a broken foundation it won't matter who the players are because it's going to fall down.

I’m not sure about “60 game starter”, but I think it is abundantly clear that Adams was certain Levi would be his starting goalie by now. When asked prior to 23-24 about whether Levi needed AHL time he was rather dismissive and referred to Levi as “special”. They then gave Levi four straight, mostly ineffective, starts to begin that season; there is no question in my mind that he believed Levi was his starting goalie two years ago. I think this ties in to my point. Adams hasn’t been able to address multiple loose ends at one time. He, largely, focuses on one element and seems caught off guard when another issue inevitably rises.

Interesting hypothesis. Where does goaltending acquisition fit? Really it’s just Levi, right? And if he thought that was sufficient then he must have had supreme confidence is in tenure as a GM, because that was over 4 years ago. And, there was no path to Devon being a 60 game starter by now. Did he lose focus too quickly?

I think it is clearly intentional. I think it does matter, but it can be hard to follow the logic. Adams seems to become focused on a certain area or trait related to asset acquisition, rather than focus on acquiring a collection of traits that will equate to a successful team. He started with acquiring picks, then the focus was on skilled forwards, an insistence on building out the pipeline, then it became tall defensemen, then upgrading the 4th line, then being tougher to play against, and now tall AND right-handed defensemen. Perhaps this is the year where he has finally put together the needed combination of skill, toughness, and experience that equates to a playoff level team. It seems there are more conventional ways to do this.

Sorry for the confusion. Those represent actual difference in inches of the six starters combined. So the Sabres on average are a 1/2 inch taller than the Bruins and 2 inches taller than the Senators.

I hate the "clickbait" style thread title. ***** hate it. Several ppl have and are talking about it. NHL teams drafted 0 defenders under 6ft in the draft this year. Teams want size in defense due to reach. When power was drafted it was all "so rare 6'6" defenders" and now Buffalo has another 1st rounder (who might be better than power) who's at that 6'6" threshold. The problem at extreme height is leverage. If you can work under that reach, it's harder for long defenders to regain leverage which is why physically pushing you away matters there. All that said, there might be 3 nhl defenders in the Sabres rhd prospect pool. Bedkowski is less talented more physical Kleber so idk where that goes. I think Strbak is also ahead of both. Mrtka slots in at the top of that pile. Komarov might be a 5/6 in a couple more years. These are all RHD and we haven't even touched on Kesselring or the Dahlin plays his off side. McCarthy, I see no path to the Sabres roster he'd be behind 4 prospects at least.

Well something ain't quite right here. If the Sabres are 6'-3 5/8" average ... and Pitt is 16 inches shorter, that makes them (quick goat math) ... 4'-11 3/8"? Honestly, nothing beyond being, say 3" taller than another team (using averages) makes much sense. That link was so ... click-baity I had trouble finding too many real stats.
