You do know that it's not overly difficult to adjust the way a light switch is mounted, right? 😉 But, it probably is best to wait until wifey's B-Day to make that adjustment. Lets one get off with a cheaper "big" gift for that one. 😉

Sabres Embedded—Zach Benson Goes Back To The Fairgrounds
Taro T replied to Porous Five Hole's topic in The Aud Club
Dad must be an Elton John fan. Couldn't understand at first why Devon Levi was at the carnival with him. Oh, his brother shall be Levi. That makes SOOOOO much more sense than why Devon had taken a trip to Moose Jaw randomly in the summer. -
Adam Mair Placed on Leave after DWI with 3 Kids in Car.
Taro T replied to Mustache of God's topic in The Aud Club
Presuming his liver functions properly, yes, that would be a reasonable interpretation of the situation. If the medication he's on, or other potential health issues, kept his liver from processing alcohol correctly then he might've had a 6 pack of a double IPA the night before and not realized he was still quite drunk the next day after a full night's sleep. Not excusing his lack of realization of his situation nor stating that your version of the situation isn't in fact the correct one. And understand why the Sabres would place him on administrative leave immediately for this event happening. But will wait to join the tar and feather brigade until after the full facts are known. And thank God that it appears nobody in either car was injured. Bumpers can be replaced; lives, not so much. -
The Hopium Den: 10 reasons why the Sabres could be better this year
Taro T replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Probably the biggest source of hopium IMHO is the heavily front loaded schedule of home games combined with Ruff and 80% of the team knowing what to expect from each other AND other teams not being able to take them as seriously in October as they're taking everybody else in October sets them up for a great opportunity to get out of the gate quickly. And with the team youth, a quick start can translate into these guys not just believing in themselves but having seen results that back that faith, so it can become an amplifier for the good vibes / success. And, right about the time they start losing that juice that comes from a quick start and feeling the fatigue of having been playing their relative version of playoff (or at minimum full on in the groove regular season) hockey for 4 months when the rest of the league has only been doing it for 1-2 months, they get nearly a full month break to regroup with only 2 (most likely) - 4 of them not having that full break to recharge and get back to being ready to drive the final 2+ month home stretch. They made the mistake of believing they were there heading into the season 2 years ago and didn't take October seriously like they had the 2 previous Granato years and it bit them in the bippy and then last year, though they'd overcome the 0-3 start that the European trip saddled them with, they never built up a cushion to be able to ride out a few game bad stretch while staying in a playoff spot and Dahlin's getting injured flat out broke them. Truly doubt they won't be ready to fly when the bullets start up for real. IF October blows up on them, expectiing it'll be none of the 4 headed goalie monster (or will it even be a 5 headed monster by the time that month is done?) was able to get the job done (which on an NHL squad would cause a significant management shakeup, but we cheer for the Sabres so hopefully we don't have to find out whether ownership has the resolve to belatedly finally make that move if necessary) rather than the skaters in front of them playing tentatively because they once again had no idea how to play the way Ruff asked them to out of the gate. But the schedule maker definitely has given them an opportunity to build up a bit of momentum out of the gate. And there is room for hope with that. - Today

The Hopium Den: 10 reasons why the Sabres could be better this year
DarthEbriate replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Strictly because we're in the hopium thread I offer refutations. Scenario 1 - I don't think a Dahlin trade request happens before this season's trade deadline. They have one season to go for it. Scenario 2 - True, but no "fringe" team can lose their leading scorer and a Norris-caliber defenseman. A great team, sure. A borderline team: no. For example, take Quinn Hughes and ... Pettersson? out of the Canucks lineup. No chance. Scenario 3 - Georgiev! Anyway, it's about committing to team defense and giving whoever is in goal a chance. If UPL stays upright and doesn't overslide his net, he can be effective. Scenario 4 - If Ruff is that out of touch, he should just retire. There's no reason to grind the youngest (again x5) team in the league. And he doesn't have anything to prove. What's at stake? His job? He's a lame duck. He can cruise. And maybe that attitude will help the players relax. But yes, they could all still be sorely underwhelming, even with improvements from last year. -
https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/sources-nhl-suspends-players-acquitted-in-2018-sexual-assault-trial-until-dec-1/ They weren't proven innocent. They were acquitted of the charges. These are different things. An acquittal means that the prosecutor in the eyes of the judge or jury (depending on the type of case) failed to prove their case against "beyond a reasonable doubt." It's the same criminal standard in the both the US and Canada. This doesn't mean they are "innocent." It just means that there wasn't enough evidence to convict them. Think the OJ case. Does anyone really believe OJ didn't kill Nicole or Ron Goldman? The standard in a civil case is significantly less. I don't think we'll ever actually know the full details of what happened. What we can say is that were acquitted. We can also say that the original investigation in 2019 concluded that there was insufficient evidence to charge the players, but was this investigation tainted by Hockey Canada? We can also say that the NHL did their own investigation and found that the players didn't act criminally, but their actions failed to meet the NHL's moral integrity standard. I think this is a nearly impossible situation. Do we forgive and give these men a second chance? I think each NHL team must decide for themselves. They need to carefully look at the role each player played in the event and I think they need to look at who the players are today. I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of teams take a chance on a couple of these guys. I don't think McLeod will be one of them.

Decent idea and cheap... more competition and if Gourgiev gets his groove back who knows... Goalies can be such a fickle position... worth a flyer. -
Oh no they most definitely can be worse. Now because of the Olympics it's unlikely a big name holds out or wants out this year. But, scenario 1 - Dahlin asks for a trade and the team quits all around with that news. scenario 2 - injury injury injury. There's no depth. We lose Tage and Dahlin we are sunk. We lose all the injury prone at the same time we are likely sunk. scenario 3 - the goaltending is not just bad but garbage scenario 4 - Ruff starts to get frustrated, starts to grind them and they quit on him. All very possible along with sophomore slumps or Quinn still sucking and so forth. Possible success above last year's level hangs by a thread here.

Adam Mair Placed on Leave after DWI with 3 Kids in Car.
Andrew Amerk replied to Mustache of God's topic in The Aud Club
What an a$$. Thats 10 drinks in your system within an hour. On a Thursday at 430pm when people are trying to get home from work, and buses are bringing kids home. AND he had kids in the car. Should be fired on the spot. And I find it hard to believe this was a one off incident and zero people in the organization had any idea there was a problem. -

Thinking about this, it’s almost like GMKA is gathering an additional dart to throw if UPL washes out again like he did last year. It’s not ideal as UPL is the only real plan the Sabres have. But if he returns to NHL average, this helps out Rochester a lot (Sandstrom as the backup last year was meh at best). -
I always just keep pushing mine out, and eventually the phone makes an executive decision to update and then restart it for me.... That night was Monday, when I was expecting a call from a Pulmonologist and I gave the transfer center my cell number to call because I don't know where in the hospital I'll be most of my shift. Guess who was super annoyed with me when the nurses couldn't find me after my phone went to voicemail because of the stupid update at 1am. While I was up in the ICU taking care of some things, grrrr

I think they’re loading up for the Amerks to be GOOD. Heck of an offseason for Karmanos. While he did not replace the goals of Murray or Jobst…he beefed up the roster, added a pugilist, upgraded the blue line, and greatly upgraded G2. It’s clearto me Rosen will be waived and hopefully slip back to ROC (I think that’s likely) to join Konsta & Östlund for offensive production. I’m excited! -
NHL suspends players acquitted in 2018 sexual assault trial until Dec. 1
shrader replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
These suspensions were from an agreement between the league and the PA. If there's any question about rights, I'd imagine that was addressed in the agreement as well. -

Flashsabre replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
There is a real confusion right know on whether these guys teams still have their rights or not. It’s a complicated situation. Some young guys made bad decisions. They were judged in a court of law to be innocent. We don’t know exactly what happened and what didn’t. The judge found the woman to be unconvincing. Should the players be blackballed or given a second chance? The NHL is giving them another chance. Coach Q and Bowman got second chances. I don’t need the Sabres to sign any of them. McLeod’s brother would be the only one I would be interested in. Hart I think will have plenty of suitors. -

Flashsabre replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
So Adams has gone from years of pencilling Levi in as the NHL goalie to now putting guys in place to keep Levi from the NHL. And I have no problem with Levi starting in the AHL again but this was not Adam’s plan 2 years ago. Shows how clueless he is. I agree with some others that this probably means someone is injured in net right now and this is an insurance plan. -

Hmmm. Someone isn't ready for the preseason. Because he's not an upgrade on anyone except Lyon, and Lyon is a proven backup who knows how to sit for a time and come in and give you .900. -
