Interesting. He does bring speed to the WR room. But he's never been more than a 3 in KC.

Jiri Kulich to miss significant time with blood clots

Extend Adams for another six years so that he can really put together a methodical well thought out plan. -
You didn't, but @Doohickie did (at least, getting that feeling). I quoted you about Brady to support my response.

This should fix everything.

Lehner got a bad rep from Buffalo, but he played a LOT better here than people remember: -6 shutouts in 3 seasons -Save percentages of: .924, .920, .908, and GAAs of 2.47, 2.68, and 3.01 Even with his issues, I was sad to see him go, I thought, even in Buffalo, he was a really good goalie here.

Jiri Kulich to miss significant time with blood clots

I mean, it sucks for Kulich and all the guys injured. We shouldn’t panic however, under the sound building through the draft strategy Kevyn Adams has vocally articulated to the fan base, everything should be ok……. -
Another interesting game, last night between the Leafs and Hurricanes. -Toronto is leading 4-2 half way through the game. -Going into the 3rd, they are up 4-3. -Carolina wins the game in regulation 5-4 -Toronto went into the 3rd leading, but gave up that lead by being outshot 22-2 in the 3rd. Carolina played the night before, traveling from Buffalo. That is a collapse protecting a lead on par with some of the worst the Sabres have done in the past.

Again, personally expect UPL would garner more interest and a better return than people here expect. He's huge, he's played well for a couple month stretch in the Sabres best season in the last decade and a half, and there has to be at least 1 GM / coach combo that expects THEY can wash that "same old Sabre stench" off of him. Simply don't see him getting right here. (Doubt he gets fully "right" anywhere; but it's not like it CAN'T happen in the right situation.) Lehner played a lot better when he got out of Buffalo too; at least until his demons got the better of him. That's probably in the back of the mind of a few GMs as well. So, if the Sabres and UPL both need a change, make it happen. But, not in a rush to see it happen because personally would like somebody other than Adams working the phones to optimize the return.

Jiri Kulich to miss significant time with blood clots

Diet maybe? Good question though. -
The NY Rangers are having one of the most interesting years in terms of their home games: -Shutout by Pittsburgh 3-0 -Shutout by Washington 1-0 -Shutout by Edmonton 2-0 -Loss to Minnesota 3-1 -Loss to San Jose 6-5 -Shutout by Carolina 3-0 -Shutout by the Islanders 5-0 In their first 7 home games at MSG, they have been shut out 5 times, and lost all 7. Yet they are 7-1-1 on the road.

Jiri Kulich to miss significant time with blood clots

Blood clots can be genetic, from a dysfunction of the blood clotting cascade.... Not sure they test that for players or not. However the main culprits/risk factors form clots are long trips without movement (ie flying) and trauma.... Hockey players fly and travel a lot and take massive body checks and pucks... I'm surprised it doesn't happen more honestly. Treatment course is several months of blood thinners depending on location of clots and you can't play contact sports until cleared off of thinners. -
I did not say we have seen peak Josh Allen. He can be better than ever, he just needs more weapons to throw to, more playmakers on offense, and better play calling from his OC. Fix fixed the OL a few years ago but his is keeps whiffing on WRs.

Well, yes, that's "sort of the issue." And if you want them to continue to pull the goalie with about 3 minutes left in a 1 goal game, well, you're likely in luck as you'll probably get your wish. Personally, would prefer they NOT do that. But my pov has been clearly stated on several occassions. Doubt there is anything left to say on this matter. So likely won't respond further to this topic. (But it is possible. Just not likely.) -
While I agree that we may have seen peak Josh Allen, I do think that that Josh Allen is still in there, but Brady doesn't run the offense to bring him out. Yes, the offense has objectively been effect under Brady, but it often (especially lately) feels like what you'd run with a journeyman clock manager under center. I was really hoping that Brady would get a head coaching job at the end of the season, but that seems unlikely now. And, for a little chicken-or-the-egg discussion, Beane isn't doing anything to help them.

It's a sign Terry! Fire Adams before dinner and put the team up for sale before you go to bed. Make it happen. It's your destiny. - Today

After the poor 3 game start (with defensive injuries decimating the team), Ruff had them playing competitive hockey, and now the offense is decimated by injuries and their top player is out due to a family issue. I think the guys are mentally exhausted and may be throwing in the towel a little bit. I'm just not sure how much longer this lineup can keep the team within a few points of playoff position. It's very difficult to play hard and put your body on the line (blocking shots, etc.) when the team is so depleted that it has almost no chance of winning a game. It's truly paddling upstream. I haven't given up watching...yet...but I just don't see how the lineup, as presently constituted, can complete against good NHL teams. I'm not making excuses for the team's terrible play, but trying to take a realistic look at the situation. Given the years of failure, the team's psyche was fragile to begin with, yet they played hard and stayed (barely) above water. That fragile psyche may now be shattered. -

Yes, and like other young teams that may scuffle throughout his ELC and first 5 years of his big extension (Colorado w/ MacKinnon, Florida w/ Barkov)... SJ isn't going to trade him for futures. They'll build around him until they get it right. -
I'm all for that but who is going to trade for a broken player? San Jose already did all their cap dump moves to get to the floor. You going to eat salary? I think we are stuck with him. This will be worse than Connolly.
-
Byram's an offense first guy. Power's an offense guy. Dahlin's an offense guy. He's good enough to be okay at D but he should be considered offense first. Kesselring I'm not sure and I'm not sure he's sure either. It's too many offense first guys. Not enough defenders. They are just fortunate Samuelsson has gotten back to what we hoped he'd be and Timmons has been solid. If they weren't, this team might be winless.
-
Which is why I wrote "as currently constructed." The only way we get "elite" goaltending the rest of the way is either Ellis or Levi take over the starting job and thrive. UPL is a 4+ Gaa guy each night; Lyon a 3+ a night. Unfortunately, we know that Adams isn't going to give the net over to the kids.
-
Well sure. I've wanted Adams fired for a while. I was very disappointed he wasn't fired last year. Most of us were. So yes, fire Adams. Absolutely. I'm just saying if it's a cosmetic change nothing will really change and we will just be fooled into optimism for another 2 or 3 years. Terry has to change his view and involvement or this will never really change. That's the core of the argument.
-
There is one way, and unfortunately, it's the way Adams has shortchanged at every opportunity in his tenure until this season (and this season they're running with Luukkonen who is not this guy) and even this season it's hardly likely because while Adams went with quantity, he didn't go and get the best quality. They would need elite goaltending. Not "UPL is hot for 20 games" goaltending. Elite goaltending. Hasek goaltending. And they would need it for 55 of the remaining 67 games. It would need to sub-2.00 GAA, .925+ sv% and at least 9 shutouts.
