Not specifically talking about next October; just saying that when you inadvertently tank, which is what this season seems to be headed for (though winning the next 4 games could dramatically change that outlook), you can come out of it extremely quickly. Also, was 100% on board with Adams going away and most if not all the coaching staff as well. So, would've rather they not go through an inadvertent tank, but does it not seem that's where we're heading? (Kind of like when they kept Housley around 1 year too long. And Housley repaid the favor of being dead coach walking by giving Skinner top line minutes down the stretch to get him to 40 goals which resulted in him getting his ridiculous contract.) Personally, would rather they rip the bandaid off now, rather than wait until May to do so. And whatever happens, happens. But do you honestly expect ownership to be on board with that anytime soon (barring something truly horrific like a 1-10-1 October)?

I just don’t want them putting Ellis out there if this team has already quit. He deserves better than that.

Three listless games to start the season including two embarrassing losses at home. 2 total goals, 0% on the PP. -8 differential in just 3 games. Objectively there are only 2 top 6 players on this current roster in Tage and Tuch. There is only 1 defender worth a crap in Dahlin. Adams created this mess, but the coaches can’t get them to even work at all. The coaches and Adams need to go now before this season is done. It’s close to over already.

I agree things feel over. Dahlin may be trying too hard because the rest of the team can't keep up. Still, watching him puke up the puck is hard to forgive. I don't disagree with playing Lyon in three straight. He's been keeping the Sabres in games. But Ellis is going to have to play soon or they will wear Lyon out totally.

I'd kind of agree but I also see the other teams taking them lightly, back up goalies, trap games, teams thinking easy win taking place AND Sabres free and loose so scoring and not defending like they like it. Guys like Quinn might be happy. You never know. I certainly don't hope it happens as I think Appert is garbage, but the fact he's still here makes me think he's Pegula's golden boy chosen one. Myself, I'm putting Jarmo in charge of everything and then I'm hoping he hires Torts to bag skate them into oblivion and then cut ALL the crap out and then start from scratch. I see no other viable idea.

I both agree with you and Tage; the negative vibes from the previous 14 years certainly puts added pressure on them. but fans don’t need a reminder of that.

Three games in feels like the season's over already. Even Dahlin fell apart today as he's back to his try to do everything mode where he gets caught out of position and gives the puck away as well. Stats don't matter, they were never in this game. So why'd they claim this goalie from St. Louis if they aren't going to play him? I'm not blaming Lyon for anything, he was fine, but he's not an every night goalie. Never has been, and rolling him out every night is madness. They will burn him out this way. Dumb imo. I did like Dunne better on the 4th line than Geertson. For all the talk of how great Doan has been he's not a top liner. There's an unfillable hole there. This team literally has nothing to offer. Positivity is just nonsense. This is the WORST they have looked since the tank.

I've ventured this opinion previously, but I think there's a pervasive attitude among younger NHL players that as long as they show up, put up good stats, hit the gym, eat right, and do all of the other things that come with their job of being an NHL player, the games are only a small part of it and don't really matter that much. No point in getting upset about winning or losing. It's only about 20 hours worth of work...

I propose building a giant pyre at center ice, and setting everyone from the owner on down to the littlest arena mouse upon it. Light it.

I had to look at the schedule again. There is a very real possibility the Sabres go 3 wins 24 loses for the first 3rd of the season. I see no reason to have any faith they can do better than 3 wins.

Look let's face it i love the concept of fantasies for competent FO but what is gonna really happen.... the team will continue to lose its clear they are the same old lost uninspired lazy golfers that we have know for years... exactly like Adams and Pegula like it. They built it. Either Ruff will get fired first as the sacrificial lamb in the season or Adams and Ruff will go together towards the end or after as players start wanting trades out of here. Adams will make his horrible trades devoid us of talent and then he and Ruff will be gone. Adams will get promoted to POHO Ruff will hang with TP in his golf cart. Jarmo will be GM and Appert will be HC after going 2 for 256 on the PP... lol 😆 after an exhaustive search... and if you think what we are seeing sucks just wait until Dahlin, Tuch, Thompson etc... start demanding to leave and do so and we get pretty much fleeced... we have not seen the bottom yet folks

In a well run franchise? Sure, move on from Ruff. In a Pegula lead franchise? Somebody needs to have have Terry's trust. Pegula isn't throwing the keys to the car to a stranger. My $0.02 is that if you don't put somebody Terry trusts between him and the GM you're going to get a Forton/Appert pairing. Ruff moving to Pegulas side is this teams best chance of turning this around (without selling the team). Edit: Also, bring in Deboers.
