  1. Past hour
  2. The thing is, people who want to criticize the Sabres can use either argument to support that point of view: -The Sabres walk away from Tuch or trade him? Joke of an organization! -The Sabres pay tuch $9-$10m per year over 8 years? Overpay! its going to kill them in just a couple of years!
  3. Good GMs get out of bad contracts all the time. (So, yeah, it likely isn't expendable. šŸ˜‰ )
  4. Not convinced they "know" teams will give him that. But it does seem the PA is telling them somebody will and wants him to hold off from signing for anything less.
  5. Could see him wanting to keep him around, but depending upon who's injured/ close to ready, he might not have the luxury of doing that. He's got 3 players out that might not be someone he wants to put on IR (Luukkonnen, Samuelsson, and Kulich) and if at least 2 of them are day to day but not ready 10 or so days from now, then he might not have the luxury of keeping Geertsen up. Do expect he'll see some action this year; and again, do believe Ruff would like to keep hm as a spare from day 1; but not convinced that makes sense as he'll likely keep Johnson and Bryson up (presuming Samuelsson doesn't go IR) leaving only 1 healthy spot in the press box. If Kulich's injury drags or if UPL is close but not quite ready; there's no room for Geertsen. (And am expecting Greenway to start on IR.)
  6. If he gets to UFA that statement is going to age like a tuna fish sandwich left out in the sun for two weeks. Multiple team will give him offers in that ballpark, he and his agent know this.
  7. I think Lindy will keep Geertsen as an extra forward, he had him in NJ and wants someone who can ā€œaddress situationsā€ like Rob Ray.
  8. Making a difference and making the Sabres are two vastly different things
  9. You'll have to explain how this statement affects things. Adams brought in this 5 years down the road thinking more than anyone and he should have been fired but he wasn't so we are where we are. We can't not behave like a proper organization because of it though. Tuch is valuable, but he's not THAT valuable.
  10. Bills are competing with themselves at this point and time, they control their destiny by just winning.
  11. I was asking what that had to do with the topic at hand: the Tuch extension. Was the poster saying negotiating an extension with Tuch was somehow emblematic of the Sabres the past 14 years? That's why I'm confused. Are we supposed to extend him? Not extend him? Extended him 5 seasons ago?
  12. You were responding to the question of what situation was the franchise in, also relating to the Tuch issue. You may be in a fantasy land but most of us are reacting to the harsh reality of the state of affairs of this franchise.
  13. Today
  14. The D is lost
  15. Last week I was mildly chastised for posting that the Bills would never win a SB with this defense. I want to retract that statement because Josh and the offense can outscore any other team in the league. As Taro points out they might be the only team that can put up 31 points and look mediocre doing it. If they win one it would be in spite of the defense, not because of it. What we’ve seen from the defense isn’t just a one game issue or a four game issue. It’s been a five year issue. Same problems even with the resources they’ve been throwing at it. Hell, an 0-3 Saints team just ran for almost 200 yards today. I’m not sure if it’s scheme, execution or personnel … or all of the above. I hope with some guys getting back it can make a difference. Time on task may help too. The Bills have the luxury of an extended seven game ā€˜preseason’ schedule (save the opener) to right the ship. I really hope they can. I want to go home for a parade and I sure can’t count on the Sabres.
  16. It’s looking like Baltimore is officially not competing with the Bills for the 1 seed anymore.
  17. Because we are negotiating with Tuch??? I'm not following you at all. Is this a thread about Tuch's extension or rehashing the drought? I thought this was a Tuch thread. My bad.
  18. I don't see that. If Mrtka isn't challenged in juniors, what is he learning? How to play when it's easy?
  19. Unfortunately his contract isn't so expendable.
  20. A generation of not making the playoffs when nearly half the teams qualify.
  21. The biggest laughingstock failure in all of sports?
  22. Blue Jays win the AL East pennant! Europe wins the Ryder Cup! It's been a good day.
  23. What situation are we in, exactly?
  24. We are in this situation as the biggest disaster of an organization in league history largely because of "Five Years Down The Road" thinking. Ignoring the present directly leads to not having a future.
  25. Lecyshyn and Geertsen aren’t going to make the Sabres. Seen enough of both of them in Vegas/Henderson to know that neither are going to make any sort of difference,
  26. Spencer Brown was clearly missed. Both of the 1st 1/2 sacks were likely due to him being out - the 1st one Jordan simply abused Van de Mark and the other one, Torrance got caught cheating too much to his right expecting to need to help Ryan and the stunt left him in no man's land. The good news is that apparently they were close to having Brown play today so he should be in against the Cheats next week. And, getting 31 points in a game where you were awful for an entire 1/4 without getting any particularly short fields until the very end, even against a bad team, is pretty impressive. As for the D stinking against the run, hopefully getting Hoecht into the lineup will help with keeping RBs to get the outside. Bosa's a great pass rusher, but he wasn't quite there on at least a couple of long Kamara runs. And the other guy hopefully will help too.
