  1. Past hour
  2. Attached is a WGR link where Eric Staal was interviewed on the Sabres Live Show. What does his hiring add to the organization? He's been with a lot of teams and still is familiar with a lot of players. If he can give some insight in some of the players the Sabres are interested in dealing for, then why not have another voice in the room? https://www.audacy.com/wgr550/hosts/sabres-live
  3. They ran into legal issues with the water bottle company and couldn't use the name yeti. They did want it.
  4. Here's a look at their first meeting together: "Yeah, so, everything you've done over the past 5 years....I probably would not have done any of that, because the results would look exactly like this."
  5. There are things called private messages. Sometimes those are better. And I'm only responding to you since you are the most recent post in this exchange.
  6. Now I actually respect him.
  7. The off-season is going the opposite of what I hoped (though not the opposite of what I expected). I was hoping for Adams and Ruff to be removed and if not removed at least somewhat neutered by having their roles changed and new people hired (perhaps promoted in Karmamos's case) to the GM and HC roles. Instead, it would seem that Adams and Ruff are having their roles and influences entrenched. There is nothing Adams and Ruff can do that would excite me about the coming season. Adams and Ruff have combined for 3 winning seasons and 3 playoff seasons in their last 16 (in their respective respective roles). These are not the men that a serious and competent NHL team/owner hires to oversee their Hockey Ops. There is zero reason to think that any roster moves these men make, will have the desired outcome.
  8. It is an issue because you can only have so many egos like that on a roster, just like you point out. Not all players have an ego and an ego isn’t mandatory to be an elite competitor. But it often goes hand in hand Mittelstadt is a bust. He was cast off from a good team after failing to slot into the role. He championed the Bruins tank. Imagine if he was still here, scary.
  9. Wrong again. There you go with the name calling. You broke the agreement this Monday, May 5th at 12:47 and at 12:51 with you two eyerolls in the Friedman Thread, which is now shut down. I "thumbs downed" you after that for insulting another poster? Something you do all the time. Check the tickets .... Can you admit your are wrong?
  10. I'd probably maximize the earnings and trade a year of UFA to get paid more now... its not like the checks aren't clearing. Y'all are way too personal, and RFA's have like no negotiating legs to get out of the contract. Embrace the suck while you have to, then figure it out after.
  11. I would add that Tuch will also want out of this circus.
  12. Good logo and good name but wow, terrible colors. I would have gone with Yetti and gone all white for one version.
  13. Over the last 14 years I learned to lower my expectations and have finally gotten to the point of having no expectations except one...never making the playoffs again under this current owner. We are all in an abusive relationship at this point with no end in sight to breaking this unfortunate, sad cycle.
  14. I’m very discouraged at the thought of all of Adam’s moves may have ulterior motives regarding finances. Many have intimated that hockey ops has no cash flow and they operate like destitute hobos, now I’m starting to wonder myself. The kicker would be hearing Staal was brought in with no salary. I’ll just stop paying attention all together.
  15. Adams knew Byram's value. The value was that he was not on an expiring contract whereas Mittelstadt was up for a pay raise... I.e. he saved Terry a few $mill for the all important yacht, while placating the fan base into thinking that the trade might make sense in a few years time. Another in a long list of shrewd moves by Adams that's kept him in a job despite 5 years with no playoffs.
  16. Ready, willing and able It’s pretty cool. I still like the Kraken. I’m inching closer and closer to jumping ship.
  17. Oh I know you are right... I am just having my little snit... LOL... just gimmie my moment 🙂 🤣
  18. I was kinda hoping KA would luck his way into success somehow as Terry absolutely refuses to make the necessary changes within the org but hiring his drinking buddy from his playing days seems to indicate we are still on the downward trajectory. I thought 13 games was rock bottom but clearly we are headed for a time period where we are all going to want the team to just go away. I’m not sure if a worse hire could have been made. Just no pulse on the fans, the community or the organization’s needs. I want to vomit.
  19. I would never be done with the Sabres, but I feel like I have checked out the last 3-4 years. If they are in the top 8 next year any time after November, I will be ready to roll. I think they will be close to the worst team in the NHL by December so not really getting my hopes up.
  20. Today
  21. These potential moves make no sense. Why would Appert have more of a role internally? What are his qualifications? His record as head coach at RPI was poor and I have no idea why he has been considered to be the likely candidate to replace Ruff when Ruff retires. My sense from the board was that Karmanos had the requisite experience to be the GM (and has done a good job with the Amerks) and now he is leaving? Retaining an experienced advisor for Adams after five years of Adams as GM? Having him report to Adams and not Pegula? Individually and collectively, none of this can be made sense of.
  22. I agreed to ignore you and you offered that you would too. YOU broke the agreement, you hypocrite. Save your thumbs down and heed your own rhetoric.
  23. No. But I definitely understand everyone who turns their back on this. A respected NHL franchise has become something that, to me, seems like some weird experiment.
  24. What good hockey sense is it? The guy quit before he even played for the Sabres.
  25. Not a fan of hiring a homophobic idiot even it it made good hockey sense. Really Kevyn?
  26. Karmanos leaving makes sense. Adams is staying and Karmanos needs to find a better opportunity than staying in a dead end job with the Sabres. For me it’s going to boil down to the roster decisions made this offseason. The alleged first change (Byram) was obvious and telegraphed when Adams said he needs to find Power a partner. It just a question of time until it happens. The question is what happens after that deal gets done.
