I’d stay aware from Bear as well. Players with Achilles injuries don’t have a good record of fully recovering. Is he going to be the same player as before? And this opinion may be colored by what we say ourselves last season, but for a team who hasn’t played a playoff game in 14 years, why pick a question mark? We don’t have the luxury of lottery tickets, especially for a player like Bear. If we want a player of his intensity, trade for one.

Watching the games last night and two things occurred to me. 1. As you note, I think the Leafs are certainly the most complete team in the East. Maybe in the league. They could win it all. 2. Of the goalies left, Oettinger is the best and I don’t think it is close. So I like Dallas’s chances. This should doom the Leafs and Stars. Also, a side note on Dallas. I’m watching them close out games with Cody Ceci on the ice (he played the last 3 minutes v. Colorado in game 7) and I’m thinking he would be a great partner for Power or Byram on our 2nd pair. He was available for a song last off-season. He is a UFA July 1. Of course, other teams will notice this.

It just seems whenever someone is doing a suboptimal job, they get demoted upwards. Appert fell upwards. Looks like he is going to do so again. Forton, same thing. There was talk of Adams falling upwards, but that’s probably for next year.

His counting stats are fine. It’s his underlying stats that get me nervous. He was flat out bad away from Dahlin.

I think every Sabre fan I know over 60 has been clamoring for Duds since the 80s. Your use of backass has me spinning.

I've seen several mocks where we get Martin which makes me feel good. I still think Bear and Martin are both guys at 9 to target. The next stop is the combine and then we'll get final rankings and draft guides.

Why did you leave off Power's 34 EV points? Your post is further proof that one of Byram or Power is redundant. Dahlin is the 1st PP and Byram or Power on the 2nd. However, neither of these guys is able to carry a D pairing successfully on their own. Keep one and trade the other and then use that opportunity to get the "survivor" a real smart defensively responsible partner. It wouldn't hurt to get Dahlin one as well so that we can free him up to be even more dominate offensively.

Funny how all the teams still in or that have bowed out early have expectations of success and are firing G.M.s and coaches as a way of dealing with those failed expectations. It's funny to see all the Rick Dudley stuff on twitter etc. I wanted them to hire Dudley as a Senior advisor/Director of Hockey ops whatever type thing back when it was time to fire Murray and start over. And then again when they fired JBot. And after that even. So now it just feels like too little way too late. I mean sure, but BELOW Adams? That's backass. If they hired Dudley, Dudley should be the one deciding if Adams deserves to keep his job.
