The last thing this ghetto franchise needs is acting irrationally due to desperation. That will only set this 😆 laughed at franchise farther back and make it an even lesser appealing place for potential new staff and players. Acting more intelligently and competently might not sound very jazzy, but it is what this dumb franchise needs more of.

Because we’re “almost there”? “So close”? We’re talking about making bold moves with intelligent hockey people who know how to run an organization.

After retiring from playing in 2010, McKee moved into coaching:

Assistant Coach, Rochester Americans (AHL) – 2011-12.

Assistant coach in the OHL with the Erie Otters (2014-15).

Associate and then Head Coach of the Kitchener Rangers (OHL), leading them for several seasons.

In 2021 he was named head coach of the Hamilton Bulldogs in the OHL (the team later moved/renamed to the Brantford Bulldogs).

As head coach of the Bulldogs, he won the 2022 OHL Championship and has compiled strong records; he recently achieved his 300th OHL coaching win and is one of the fastest coaches in league history to do so.

McKee signed a contract extension through the 2027-28 season with the Bulldogs, highlighting his success and value in the league. WOULD have to buy him out likely, IF he wants the job. 

Named assistant coach for Team CHL at the 2025 CHL USA Prospects Challenge, representing the OHL alongside coaches from other leagues.

In summary, Jay McKee is a respected hockey coach developing talent in major junior hockey and has built a strong coaching resume after a distinguished NHL playing career.

He certainly sounds like he’s gaining experience. I’m not sure a jump right to the NHL would be appropriate. Maybe as a replacement for Leone when we give him a spot behind the Sabres bench.

I disagree. I think what has gone for years is firmly embedded and the only way to change it, the only way to make it a destination again, is to publicly announce and then act on a radical change. If they did this the first thing you would see in the media and the 32 thoughts and all that is "radical change in Buffalo" "is this the beginning of a new era?" etc. 

Would it work? idk, maybe not, but right now Philly, who were behind us in rebuild terms are a playoff bubble team with a prospect cupboard pretty good looking especially Martone. Things might change, but they do seem to have not only survived the Torts surgery but are also better for it. 

I can't even begin to compare the Bruins plan to what the Sabres do as it's mindboggling that it is already working but the Yzerplan is also ahead and everybody was laughing at that too. The only other failed rebuild right now is Nashville. Calgary and Vancouver are in tear down mode. So I guess those will be the next three we compare to and see pass us unless they do something new here.

Right.  Which makes every hour that passes more and more cringe worthy.  What exactly was the point of everyone creaming in their jeans to get this story out there when:

A) no one actually knows if this is going to happen

B) no one actually knows when it’s going to happen.

So again, what was the rush to get this story out again?

Just another symptom of where we are as a society.  Bettermake sure I’m first to report a story, even though I have no details or timeline of when anything is going to happen.  We are living in the Idiocracy.
