Itโs just such a substantial hole in the roster. We are reliant on Tage always but without Norris our offence seemingly has no chance if Thompson isnโt playing at the all-star level we know heโs capable of. If heโs just sort of ok like today, well it kinda looks like this. Dahlin too. Way too ordinary ย Which is still sickening that with the high picks weโve had, seemingly forever, this franchise is completely void of high end talent. ย 1 Quote

I suppose I will need to add the caveat that this has nothing to do with Benson. Hockey is a team sport that relies on team depth. It's terrible. A 20 year-old should not be the savior on a team that has been building around top-10 picks (very few remaining) for 10 years. But numerically-draft-order speaking Benson has been their worst at 13 (except Helenius 14) initial first round selection since Armia back in 2011. And yet it's Benson who drives the entire team. Lyon and Ellis need to get every game on the road trip. The team responds to them. 1 minute ago, Doohickie said: I accepted an invite to a "friendsgiving" dinner Saturday; the only downside was that I would miss the Sabres game. ย It is no longer a downside. Didn't 'rotate' through, didn't skate through the crease..but they planted themself there the whole time. On the PP, that seems to have gone away..and so have the goals. When the PP was on (for all of 1-1/2 games) but also when they were generating chances but not finishing, they had at least 2 of the 3 of Doan, Benson, and Zucker on the ice and at least 2 of them were near the net.ย They need guys with that mentality to be on the PP because they are never going to have close to 2 minutes of zone time because of the idiotic entry and the way they tend to let themselves get outmanned at the boards. Seth Appert is sliding soooooooo far up the list of most disliked people associated with the Sabres. 1 1 Quote

Thorny Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago 1 minute ago, ... said: Be specific. There are three "things" there. Terry Pegula isnโt phoning in starting goalie decisions. Are we in the GDTโs congratulating him when Lyon plays well because he called those ones in too?ย heโs a terrible owner. Heโs not the variable x in every equation to determine the root cause of a bad team decision - He facilities the environment. Thatโs really enough to lambast him. Heโs at fault. Taro T Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago 37 minutes ago, clink said: I promise youย Of ALL of the above-mentionedย Removing UPL is the MOST important! He's the proverbial sand in the Vaselineย 86 his doomer a$$ and all else starts to happen UPL ONLY gets going when there is no one in his way to the starter's role and everyone is pumping him up.ย He tends to run out of gas after 2-3 months, but he seems to be the Sally Fields of goalies - he gets into his grove when he feels the love of those around him.ย When he doesn't have it, he plays without confidence; and when you play without confidence you are slow moving across the crease on a breakaway where the shooter has limited options because he does have a chaser close by and when you play without confidence you flat out miss unscreened pucks from 40' away that should be easy glove saves and when you play without confidence you can't keep a leg along the ice when having to track a puck from behind the net to the front of it and can't get the leg back down onto the ice regardless of how slow the puck has been kicked at the net. He isn't moving ahead of Lyon unless Lyon really falls on hard times and he SHOULD be behind Ellis right now. This team needs wins to stay in the chase.ย They don't have the luxury of letting UPL play his way out of his own head. 1 1 1 Quote
