I accepted an invite to a "friendsgiving" dinner Saturday; the only downside was that I would miss the Sabres game.

It's terrible. A 20 year-old should not be the savior on a team that has been building around top-10 picks (very few remaining) for 10 years. But numerically-draft-order speaking Benson has been their worst at 13 (except Helenius 14) initial first round selection since Armia back in 2011. And yet it's Benson who drives the entire team.

Lyon and Ellis need to get every game on the road trip. The team responds to them.

The whole Norris conundrum was a fatally flawed premise from the get go. The dude has never been able to stay healthy and he was way too important to this team's hopes. More idiotic roster construction.

On the PP, that seems to have gone away..and so have the goals.

When the PP was on (for all of 1-1/2 games) but also when they were generating chances but not finishing, they had at least 2 of the 3 of Doan, Benson, and Zucker on the ice and at least 2 of them were near the net.  They need guys with that mentality to be on the PP because they are never going to have close to 2 minutes of zone time because of the idiotic entry and the way they tend to let themselves get outmanned at the boards.

Seth Appert is sliding soooooooo far up the list of most disliked people associated with the Sabres.

That the coaches, or, perhaps GM Pegula, haven't recognized this really says it all about how this team is run.

I would not be shocked in the least to learn that GM Pegula wanted to play UPL as much as possible since his return in an effort to try and move him. Of course, I would also not be shocked to learn that GM Pegula wanted to play UPL no matter what because he's their high-dollar goalie.

Uncle Terry = Pegula? "Impotent" doesn't even begin to cover how players would view any kind of speech he'd give. That guy is a DUD. Really INANE when he talks sports, at least back when I used to overhear him and his FO guys from both orgs. Truly out of place amongst other human beings.

you can’t assume anything the Sabres do in October. They inevitably will blow it up with a multiple game losing (or winless) streak in November/December.

Terry Pegula isn’t phoning in starting goalie decisions. Are we in the GDT’s congratulating him when Lyon plays well because he called those ones in too? 

he’s a terrible owner. He’s not the variable x in every equation to determine the root cause of a bad team decision - He facilities the environment. That’s really enough to lambast him. He’s at fault. Just not in cartoonish way often portrayed

UPL ONLY gets going when there is no one in his way to the starter's role and everyone is pumping him up.  He tends to run out of gas after 2-3 months, but he seems to be the Sally Fields of goalies - he gets into his grove when he feels the love of those around him.  When he doesn't have it, he plays without confidence; and when you play without confidence you are slow moving across the crease on a breakaway where the shooter has limited options because he does have a chaser close by and when you play without confidence you flat out miss unscreened pucks from 40' away that should be easy glove saves and when you play without confidence you can't keep a leg along the ice when having to track a puck from behind the net to the front of it and can't get the leg back down onto the ice regardless of how slow the puck has been kicked at the net.

He isn't moving ahead of Lyon unless Lyon really falls on hard times and he SHOULD be behind Ellis right now.

This team needs wins to stay in the chase.  They don't have the luxury of letting UPL play his way out of his own head.
