This falls under the I will believe it when it happens category

This reaks of "we should fire our GM but his contract and he's a guy Terry likes"

The longer this goes on, the more laughable it becomes.

It reeks of Kevyn, I want you to hire your replacement.

Sounds like a great recipe for success.

“More changes coming” More? That implies there have been some.

Yea... smells like "okay, I'll give my boy until Christmas and then if it's bad, the "advisor" becomes gm"

Except there's nothing to show he'll be disposed of. He'll just be elevated and be the voice of Pegula. And if the GM clashes with Pegula, he'll follow the same road as PLF, GMTM, and JBott -- none fired/left for performance of the team.

Which begs the question to Pegula: What qualifies Kevyn to hire an NHL GM? The Karmanos hire?

I think hiring an executive level hockey advisor is not happening.  Terry is learning that the senior candidates with experience won’t work for Adams.

It doesn’t matter.  It just doesn’t matter at all.

After the Whistle floated Brian Burke. Was that them spitballing or more of a rumor?

Id like Dudley once Florida is finished but like everyone else he’s not coming in to report to Adams

But what about Randy Sexton? John Chayka? Doug McLean? Jay Feaster?

Maybe you’re just looking in the wrong pile? 😜

Classic Lance. No one outside the employ of the Sabres has carried more water for the franchise.

And then it hit me: what if this is exactly what is happening?

What if the leaked shuffle was exactly the original plan: Kevyn failing upward and Karmanos moving into the GM chair?

And then the plan fell apart because either Karmanos or Terry decided Karmanos wasn’t the right fit for whatever reason?

So they pivoted to bringing in “a senior advisor” with the understanding that he would transition into GM and Kevyn to POHO in the near future.

Basically, Kevyn leads him through the organizational learning curve, including the draft and free agency. New guy provides his input to shape the plan and finesse through some moves while Terry watches closely and overcomes his trust issues.

Its not unheard of in hockey circles. Doug Armstrong and Alex Steen are doing it right now in St. Louis.

It certainly fits with the shuffle and Karmanos rumours, and with what we know about how Pegula and Adams operate.

If they scratch 90 points Adams probably gets a lifetime extension

THIS

Sabres lose 6-3 but score three in the third. Lance: coach that period really shows what this team can do if they play the system, no?

He wakes up each morning with a direct message outline of his social media narratives for the day I’m sure of it

This is just a bad place to come anymore.  Posters making stuff up with insinuations and no proof.  Start filling in blanks with conjecture.  Then other posters commenting on these made up things, as if they're true statements.

Anyway.  Just wanted to throw my thoughts in the ring.  In the event it resonates with others that don't interrupt the tirades either .

Yes, all is well in SabreLand. Quiet, you rabble rousers.

Lance is pro Sabres to the point of being on the payroll. Ending up covering the Bills was probably his aim. Well done.

14 years, the entire tenure of ownership, record breaking ineptitude, none of that is made up.

Other hockey organizations do not consistently hire individuals with little or no experience to run them. There's never been a rational course correction, and now there is stubborn insistence on keeping a fella who is manifestly in over his head. Yet when folks are angry about it, you act baffled.

A lot of conjecture occurs because there is a lack of transparency, lack of any kind of reasonable response to failure, so folks are left to try and discern a semblance of plan in the tiny moves and increasingly meaningless rhetoric that is slow-walked out to the dwindling number of fans who can only speculate whether there is anything coherent beyond manifest contempt for those who remain to care about the team -- mostly an older crowd that remember when the crest was an honorable reflection of the city.

That has to be spitballing. Can you imagine Burke in the Sabres front office. He’s way too big a personality to be nice with Adams and not offend Pegula at some point.

Using the sabres as merely a stepping stone for bills. Terry couldn’t help see himself in the lad

Precisely and extremely well said.

Terry Pegula

(Sorry about that!)

No apology necessary.  If this ever actually happens, it will be the most underwhelming nothing hire in league history.

Sure.  Maybe, there are lots of possibilities.

Are you implying that Terry is going to conduct a thorough job search for the next GM/POHO?  One with clearly stated job requirements and with solid rationale for making a selection?

All he has to do is really commit to winning and find that ONE guy and let him bring in the others.

Nope

Im implying that there are a ton of unemployed GMs out there who meet the requirement of ‘sat in the chair’ who wont be as picky as Lou.

And probably won’t be the guy to get us out of this mess either.
