EP40+Demko for Norris+UPL?

Norris is one of Quinn Hughes best friends and Vancouver would want a centre back. Add in Byram and Hronek and make it a good old fashioned crazy blockbuster to shake things up. A Jarmo influenced deal😝

I don’t think it will happen but I do think we will here EP40 linked to Buffalo again as the July 1st deadline nears.

Ekblad is a RHD who turns 30 in February and has played 61, 71, 51 and 56 games in his last 4 seasons (56 this season, with 33 pts, and 51 last season, with 18 pts).  His AAV on his expiring contract is $7.5MM.  Florida probably can't afford to keep him.

Would anyone rather have Ekblad at, say, 5 years x $8.5MM -- which is what the Sabres would need to pay, because they'd need to beat the market to get him -- than Byram on the same deal?  Or for that matter than Power on his current $8.35MM per year?

In other words, if you can have 2 out of Power, Byram and Ekblad at the contracts stated above, which 2 do you want?  Byram turns 24 in a couple of weeks and Power turns 23 in November.

I love the idea of Ekblad but can’t fathom how to piece together a roster with 3 D making about 27mil

 

 

My 1st priority is extending Tuch and figuring out Peterka’s ask.

Want a bridge of 2x6.5 JJ? Sure.

7 x 7.5 mil, why thank you; we accept. 
 

If he wants 3/4 years or some 9+ mil AAV then I look to trade him.

The issue is less this season but more next year with money thanks to our “ingenious” buyout of Skinner. If we didn’t want to use the savings then we should have waited a year.

Rick Dhaliwal, who is a Canucks insider, said on his recent podcast he believes the Stars are shopping Jason Robertson. now there was some smoke to Buffalo being in on Robertson and almost acquiring him was it last year or the year before? I wouldnt be shocked if he is available we swing back around and try again, he is a big body winger, signed for 1 more year at 7.5 million i believe and then is an RFA.

His last 4 years of points are 80,80,109,79

He was hurt in the playoffs and didnt look himself but this would be a huge pick up! Have to expect the return would sting of course, but likely Dallas wants to shed cap so maybe its less then normal becasue they want the 7.5 million in cap space. Or maybe its Peterka for Robertson and then we agree to take Marchment, Dumba or Lybushkin back as well.

If it was Peterka plus for Marchment and Robertson, id do that all day! Not sure what the plus would be, 9th overal? Dont know if Dallas would need that, maybe they want to add a high pick into there prospects after Benn and Sequin and Duschene will leave soon

Even if it was Peterka and Kulich for Robertson and Marchment i would do it, and I think we are a better team all day with that move

Hmm... no JJ Peterka.

It's weird how only one Insider has him on their trade board, and how that Insider has him #1 and the Sabres may "have to trade him" when others have him at most as a potential offer sheet target.

Beyond that:

Andersson, Oleksiak,  Miller, McDonough, Murphy, Hague...definitely names there I am interested in or the Sabres.

Heck, I'd even kick the tires on Ristolainen.

I'd rather trade Byram for a 2nd pair Righty Dman. I like Michael Kesselring and more from Utah. Miller and more could be a guy I could trade for too.

It was made clear to the Sabres he would not sign a long term deal

 

Necas was the Sabres consensus pick in the first round that year then Mitts started to drop-someone needs to write a book about the missteps of the Sabres Drought.  It will surpass War and Peace in length
