It was interesting that someone pointed out that Afinogenov played for a long time under Lindy, he was also not know for back checking or the like.

Actually I think the stat was that Afinogenov played more games for Lindy than any other player.

This Moose Jaw vs Saskatchewan series is one for the ages. Five of the six games have gone to OT. Moose Jaw must win to stay alive.

Saskatoon😃 and yes it has been a great series. Hopefully Moose Jaw can pull out Game 7

Do I get any points for getting the province right? 😄

Wasn't he often relegated to 3rd line duties and primarily given O Zone starts to minimize his lack of back checking?  Wasn't he also done in the NHL by 31?

Komarov (5th rd 2022) and Novikov (6th rd 2021) have made the biggest strides since being drafted.  Komarov will be a nice addition to the Amerks next season and we'll see how things go from there.

It's funny about draft classes.  How quickly hope for some of these kids can fade while others blossom.

2021 started with such promise.  Power was 1st overall.  Rosen was a solid pick if a bit early.  Nadeau and Kozak looked like real bargain picks.  Poltapov and Kisakov looked really talented and Kisakov even made the jump to the AHL earlier than expected.  Now a few years later, Rosen still hasn't made the jump to the NHL and looks like he'll need a 3rd season in the A (but did lead the Amerks in scoring (50).  Kisakoc and Kozak are struggling for PT in the A and Poltapov remains in Russia.  Power is in the NHL and eating minutes, but hasn't yet made the impact we hoped.  However Novikov was the real find in this draft and could be the shot in the arm our D needs in another year.  He was arguably Roch's best D this past season and added 23 pts of unexpected O to go with his size and good in zone play.  I'm excited to see what he can do next fall and how quickly he gets a callup to the NHL.

2022 is still all systems go.  The Big 3 are all making progress.  Savoie obliterated the WHL and he and hopefully Östlund join the Amerks next season.  We really need Östlund's playmaking skillset.  Kulich lead the Amerks in goals, and like Rosen, needs another year in the A.  Neuchev, after a tough transition to NA, came on strong.  Komarov had a dominate year in the Q and Lindgren had another good year in the WHL and hopefully will be signed to an ELC.  Richards also had a nice freshman season with UConn.

Huge game 7 between Matt Savoie's Moose Jaw Warriors and the hometown Saskatoon Blades tonight. Winner gets the Portland Winterhawks in the WHL final for the right to go to the Memorial Cup. If game seven goes to OT, it would be 6 of the 7 games in this series, which would be a record (at least as far back as they have stats for this).

Go Blades!

Savoie’s point streak finally ends but he played well.

He played centre and was good at the dot and was very good positionally in his own end. Used his body to force a couple turnovers too.

Savoie out west and Komarov in the Q are in championship series with the winner going to the Memorial Cup in Saginaw. London play Oshawa to see the second team from the O to advance to the Memorial Cup

Be nice to see Savoie vs. Komarov in the Memorial Cup finals.

The forwards get all the attention but I think people are really sleeping on the seasons that the 2 Russian Dmen have had. Novikov in the AHL and Komarov’s past 2 years in the Q.

Pretty exciting to see. Good write up.

After watching the ROC game last night (admittedly a small sample size) if anyone other than Johnson and Levi are on the Sabres next year the team is in for a long season. No one else looks ready to make the jump. The Amerks should be fun to watch though.

Fully agree. Adams needs to add NHL vets, not 20yr old kids.

Add Savoie and Komarov to the Amerks. Doesn’t raise their grit level but they bring skill.

I was looking at the box score from the Amerks game and three of our top prospects had a rough game in the most important game of the year.  Rosen was -3, Kulich -4 and Levi gave up 4 goals on 19 shots.

Rosen and Kulich, like many players on the team, suck in their own zone. They are no where near ready for the next level in that regard and I doubt Lindy would tolerate it, anyway.
