  1. I believe his comments on "hockey sense" were not in relation to the scouts, but what he looks for in players. In other words, he was not referring to he scout's "hockey sense", but the player's, as an important part of the evaluation process for him. On analytics, he said it was possibly very useful for the casual observer, but for him, it was of some use but minor importance. Anyway, thats how I heard it.
  2. My understanding is that all the Canadian teams are on the list.
  3. I have no inside knowledge of him, but I have come to the same conclusion just based on observing how he handles himself, how he positions himself, and how he treats other people. I simply do not read anything he writes. No credibility to me.
  4. I agree, except I think Tim Graham is also terrible.
  5. Jerry Sullivan is a major douche. I can already see his next piece in the Snooze - "New Sabres Boss Dodges Questions".
  6. No kidding. Kid has some skill, no? Speed too, which the Sabres dearly need. I hope it works out.
  7. This does not hurt Pysyk and could help him. What it does do is allow Nolan to get a longer look at his bottom defensemen without having to sit Pysyk which clearly does him no good at all. They have flexibility to send him down, keep him playing, so that is the logical move. The Sabres will likely move one or more of Weber, McBain, and Sultzer before year end as part of a package or outright waiver so you might want to make sure you know what you have if you are Nolan.
  8. Pretty weak effort from Vanek on that play. Yikes.
  9. That would help, but then again, he was supposed to be the center talent. He just does not appear ready to step up yet. It is really too bad they cannot send him to Rochester. That is where he belongs right now.
  10. I would agree, since the knock on Grigs has been lack of consistent effort, unless he somehow has an awakening, he is going to be watching a good deal of hockey.
  11. That is a rather simplistic review of Ted Nolan's time with the Sabres. While they did rely on Hasek to make saves, they also fore checked, skated hard, and counter attacked effectively. He won Coach of the Year with laFontaine on the injury list for all but 12 games, and they won a playoff series and almost won another win with Hasek sitting out in his fake injury. I don't know how he will do this time, but you are going to see a much more motivated team from now on, for sure.
  12. It will, at least, be interesting.
  13. Stoked about this! Can't wait until the Toronto game. I love the move with Patty and as far as Ted Nolan is concerned, he will get them competing every night - no doubt about that. I am sure the hope is that he does well enough that the new GM wants to keep him. PL obviously believes in him. I love these moves.
  14. Just saw on on NHL Network - Thornton out 7 - 10 days with concussion.
  15. It appears Ruff has already made up his mind. May as well send him down as have him sit on the bench getting a few shifts with Scott. Keeping him on the Sabres will only allow Ruff to completely destroy the kid's confidence. As expected, Hecht is the third line center, at least until Lindy moves him up.
  16. Could not agree more. Lucky to win those first two. They could use a complete game to light a spark or this could get ugly. Not sure how much to put on the lockout, lack of real training camp and preseason, etc. but the Sabres certainly do not seem to have it together as yet on the whole.
  17. I guess we will not know who does and does not make the team until they set the roster, right? Just checking. Tell me I am wrong when Grigorenko gets sent back to Quebec after the 5 game trial. Again, I hope I am wrong but it is a strong possibility given Lindy's comments on this topic and the fact that the Sabres may not want to waste the first year of his three year NHL contract in a shortened season. By the way, "spelt" is a type of wheat. I think you meant "spelled". Thank you.
  18. First of all, grow up. Just expressing an opinion - keep your schoolyard bully act for your little friends in Mommy's basement. Second, the only evidence needed is the way Ruff has managed this team for many years now. I could be wrong, and hope I am, but all "evidence" from this organization's past actions suggest otherwise. I guess we will see when one of the second liners goes down who he promotes, just as we will see who gets left off the team for Hecht. Hope I am wrong, but my opinion is not "rediculous" based on Lindy's past handling of this team and the enormous confidence he has in Hecht. That said, perhaps Hecht will prove himself done and not even make the team. We will see. Have you not been watching for the last 5 years?
  19. This may be the way it should be, but I really doubt Lindy will keep Grigs up, opting instead to rely on his old buddy Hecht. By the end of the shortened season you will likley even see Hecht on the second line, so strong is Lindy's love for Jochen. He should not have been resigned - just a crutch for Ruff to refuse to give younger players a chance.
  20. Good point. I did not notice his age. All the more reason why Ennis has better value
  21. I do not why Ennis would not be rated at least as highly. Read has one year of experience - 47 pts. Good prospect but Ennis has more experience and certainly at least equals numbers. Laughton was their #1 pick this year - equivalent is Girgensons. I think Sekera is the right comparison to Mezaros, not McNabb. How would darcy sweeten that pot? Will they really give up Girgensons? Will they take Stafford instead of or in addition to Ennis? Foligno? I think the Sabres have plenty of valuable assets, although many here do not agree, but at what point do you say not worth it for Ryan?
