  1. The Sabres could have paid him if they wanted to. They clearly did not want to. I am not sure how anyone could have watched this team last year up to and beyond the trade deadline and say that bringing the band back together was going to be the right course of action. Casey had value and so was traded. I am not saying he was necessarily part of the problem, but clearly not part of the solution in their mind or they would have at least made an effort to discuss extension before trading him. As for what he is worth, like all things, he is worth what someone is willing to pay him. We will see whether last year was an aberration and high point for him or his trend.
  2. He brings a physical element that is largely missing from our D lineup so I think he will get every opportunity to crack the top 6. Clifton was supposed to be that, but not so much.
  3. Well, let’s see. A mysterious phone call from an unnamed source of an unspecified nature reported by a bitter ex employee. There is certainly no reason to disbelieve that.
  4. Good for them. As that’s not where the Sabres issue is, it’s not clear to me why I should care what Utah does to remake their top 4.
  5. I am prepared for another disappointing and excuse laden draft day and free agency. Tired of it, but expecting it none the less.
  6. This is totally on point. The crises with the Sabres is one of leadership, top to bottom. They have assembled some very good talent, which is clearly not enough. I have no remaining confidence that the leadership of this organization, from players to coaches to front office to ownership are capable of taking the next steps.
  7. I would fire Granato and hire Ruff immediately. I am not sure that’s the ultimate right answer but it is at least much better. This lineup is in need of some Lindy.
  8. I listened to this interview and it was very depressing. It is clear that Granato is just clueless as to how to right this ship. He rambled incoherently and could not make a solid point. He just does not have a clue what is going on with this team.
  9. A lofty achievement for this crew. May be asking too much, but we can hope.
  10. It could have been 5-1 after the first period.
  11. Attitude reflects leadership. Pretty sure I heard that somewhere ..
  12. If you think the Sabres were anywhere near a competent team with the players you are crying about then there is clearly no discussion to be had. They had talent, but were not even close to being competitive, and all you mention had given up on the Sabres. It was going nowhere. There was no coming back from the team building and coaching mistakes made by both Murray and Botterill.
  13. You may be right in the long term, but in the short term this is the Sabres solution. Clifton fills several holes for buffalo in the short term, and has certainly shown the ability to step up to a 4D role. He will be given every opportunity to step up to this role on a nightly basis. Very solid move i think. You should not expect another signing or trade this year for a “4D”.
  14. I have to say, I watched my father die in front of me when I was 15, so I feel for you. However, I cannot even imagine how that creates a reason for a total lack of empathy for other people. Your explanation for not wanting to ever give to any charity is absurd.
  15. The new Cal Peterson. Glad we got a third for him, but good riddance if he is afraid of competition for a spot and unwilling to play in Buffalo.
  16. Yes, but good luck getting that call against Boston, in Boston.
  17. It certainly is, and if he is expecting more than that consistently out of Eichel, he will be disappointed.
  18. The farm was largely depleted of D men. Now it’s not. That is all. None of these guys are ever likely to get more than an emergency cup of coffee on the Sabres. (Hopefully)
  19. I agree. He shoveling BS. If he had any interest in signing with the Sabres, it would be done by now. There is zero advantage to returning to MN other than achieving UFA status at this point.
  20. F him. There is absolutely no reason to dddle around with him. He was borderline to begin with plus he baled on the team. I do not see any scenario where bringing him back is a net positive. Let him lie in the bed he made.
  21. He may not be as skilled but he has more heart, and it’s not even close.
  22. Unfortunately very probably true.
