Yep. I'm being patient. Except for that spankin' new Dahlin jersey hanging on my wall. Patient.

Fvck am I glad I waited to buy an Eichel jersey.

Ugh, they're simply determined to make me want to subscribe.

Wait, censored stuff is deleted? What the ? in weak. This is some . Why not stay with the pound signs? Now there's no way to tell what the I'm saying.

Some good discourse in here, which is what I was looking to foster when I posted the thread. The clickbait thread title worked (notice that I haven't posted a post to justify firing Bots), and that was before I knew we gonna have a karma system.

Hmmm. That could be forward thinking. And really kind of dumb if they actually wanted the return they got for ROR. But forward thinking, nonetheless.

I don't know why pi edited it. I enjoyed the hunter2 reference.

It's an interesting way for Ottawa to force their trade partners to show their cards. You want Karlsson? Offer him a contract. If it's good enough that he wants to sign it, we're gonna make you pay us the assets we think that's worth, or else there's another team with a contract for him in hand.
-
Yeah, that part's weird. Karlsson's return is the key to their future, and they would be bogging it down by actively enforcing movement of a bad contract. And they have the cap space. So unless the team is actually in real-dollar financial straits, they should consider just eating it for the betterment of the franchise.

An ode to the great Rhett Warriner.

We have $13M free now. We're getting rid of Pommer and Matt Moulson after this year, which frees up $9.7M. If you have Scandella, Risto, Dahlin, and Karlsson, Bogosian's out at $5.1M as late as Spring 2020. That's $27.8M freed up before you even have to sniff Dahlin's extension. Yes, Ryan''s way overpaid, but this lowers the acquisition price on an extended Karlsson. Maybe it gets down to those two acquired 1st round picks (not ours) and a prospect and maybe a junk player. I think we should be at least investigating this.

Oh, it'll be worse than that. Flipping tables, rooftop WWE, crashing cars, burning buildings, animal maulings, self-inflicted gunshot wounds, farm machine accidents. The limit of man's desire to illustrate that someone else is wrong on the internet is way beyond man himself. The new and improved SABRESSPACE!

So we're going to an all-YouTube posting format, where we just make videos of us yelling at eachother? The future is here!

I guess that when you hate your rival more than wanting to actually win, you sign James Neal.

Further evidence that Botterill's likely making analytics-informed, if not analytics-driven, decisions.

Dolla dolla bill yall. Money over everything.

Trade: Ryan O'Reilly to St Louis Blues

It's cool. Housley tolerates all kinds of mistakes. -
And like Pyatt, he'll take all the fan and media beatings. That's worth at least a 3rd round pick.
-
If you're gonna offer sheet below $8.1M, you go just below the maximum dollar value in the range you want. That way, it gives you the best chance to get the player because a) the player will want the money, and b) if the other team did match, they would get cap the hardest. So, if you thought Johnson was worth a 1st and 3rd (separate debate), you offer him $4M to convince him to sign and to screw the other team if he doesn't. They don't have a 2019 3rd.

The wikis for 2019 and 2020 show that NYI has: 2019 1 NOT 2019 2 NOT 2019 3 2020 1 2020 2 2020 3 The compensation schedule is: $1,339,575 or less No compensation $1,339,576 to $2,029,659 Third-round pick $2,029,660 to $4,059,322 Second-round pick $4,059,323 to $6,088,980 First and third-round picks $6,088,981 to $8,118,641 First, second and third-round picks $8,118,642 to $10,148,302 Two firsts, a second and third-round picks Over $10,148,302 Four first-round picks This suggests that they could only go all in on four 1st rounders, as they can't meet the requirements in 2019. Is Nylander worth four 1sts from a bad team that just lost Tavares? No. Should Toronto get four more 1st rounders like that? ###### no. Maybe the rules allow for 2019 1, 2020 1, 2020 2, 2020 3, which NYI still has. But seriously, >$8.1M and really good 1,1,2,3s for Nylander?

UPDATE: Sam Reinhart signs 2-year extension -- $3.65MM per year
IKnowPhysics replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Somewhere between that and 7x$5.5M. -
Voynov is closer to returning. Ugh.
-
Hmmm. Would I take on Ryan just to get Karlsson plus an extension? Four years of Ryan at $7.25M for one year of Karlsson at $6.5M plus ____? Ehhhh.... with how weak our wings are... and $13M free right now... and we clear Pominville and Moulson's cap hit after this year and Bogosian's after next year... if taking Ryan would lower the price on Karlsson...
