  1. ...says the guy with the best tank avatar and most tank-oriented user name.
  2. July 1 is about six weeks away. Here's the ever-changing list of UFAs: http://www.capgeek.com/ufa-finder/ Here's our roster as-is: http://www.capgeek.com/sabres/ What's the best way for the Sabres to proceed? Go after big UFAs or build for the future or tank the ever loving ###### out of this season? Bring up the kids who can play or let them work in the AHL for a while whilst bringing in UFAs to fill the open spots? We don't have to immediately start a tire fire about whether or not the Sabres can attract quality UFAs; this is more of a discussion about whether they should try to this year. A poll's included to get the conversation started.
  3. Carl Sagan would be proud. If you would like to form an opinion about hockey from scratch, you must first invent the universe.
  4. At worst, I could see St Louis taking the bottom wildcard spot. And I think that'd take injuries. Besides Minnestoga, who could bump St Louis into a wildcard spot, there's not many teams in the Pacific or the rest of the Central (Nashville) that are outside looking in and ready to knock a wildcard team out. St Louis would have to put up at least 10 fewer wins, going from a 52-23-7 to something like a 42-33-7 for it to even be close. St Louis's defense is too steady to change much from their 2nd-best 191 GA and the non-playoff teams in the west are just not scoring enough goals to force their way into contention.
  5. One of the players on my team engaged a linesman. You can't. You just. Can't. The stripe wasn't professional and did not do a good job deescalating the situation, but there's no excuse for the player engaging him. It's unsportsmanlike, there's no benefit to it, and in some situations, it's dangerous. At the team's direction, not the league's, he's sitting the season. Hopefully he'll learn from his mistake.
  6. I fixed that for you...I think?
  7. Get your Prozac away from me.
  8. Play with the heat map tool: sportingcharts.com MON vs NYR goals. The graphic in the Post illustrates that good scoring opportunities come from in close (ie good scoring areas). There's a little bit of variance between different teams, but they're effectively the same to 1st order. In other words, the best way to score on anyone is in close. Accordingly, Montreal needs to stop shooting from the outside and start getting to good scoring areas. They've had some chances inside, but they obviously need more.
  9. It's possible that if Stafford plays how he has been playing, we could sell him for a 20-30th overall pick. Teams didn't seem as willing to pay high prices for rentals this year. I'm still a fan of Ennis, and I'd like him to stick around a while. We'll extend him a qualifying offer. Ehrhoff's story hasn't completely unfolded yet. He's a great value. He could be useful going forward or selling him off could help complete the tank. It depends on whether he wants to be here, which is a question that's been asked of him by the media. There's also possible cap penalty issues to be resolved. Jamie McBain may interest some teams if we don't want him. I haven't been impressed with him. He won't return much of anything useful, maybe a 3rd rounder at best. Chris Stewart is trade bait, although I wouldn't mind watching him play some games in Buffalo. And according to some, the trade sending him to Ottawa that never happened could still happen. Tyler Myers will still attract attention, especially from teams like Edmonton and Florida. But it's been greatly debated whether we should let that happen and what kind of return would be reasonable to demand. We're likely hanging onto Cody Hodgson, of course. Looking at the roster, there's not much after that, especially anything that could launch even a 2nd round pick up into a top-20 pick. I actually feel a lot better about Tank Mark II after typing this out.
  10. I've accidentally called a girl by the wrong name in bed. Sometimes your tongue slips and ###### happens. If that guy was worthy of chz, she'd have straightened him out and forgiven him. Apparently not the case.
  11. I'm okay with Tank Mark II.
  12. For the record, if both the Sabres and Islanders finish bottom five, the probability of winning the lottery (presumably Connor McDavid) is a minimum of 18.8% (4-5 finish) and a maximum of 46.8% (1-2 finish). That;s nice and ######-y, but keep in mind that on top of McDavid, you obviously get to select the other pick as well. If the Sabres and Islanders finish 1-2, that means there's almost a 50-50 chance of getting McDavid and a 100% chance of getting Eichel (if that's who we want as the 2nd overall pick). It's really a 50-50 chance of getting players whose potential matches that of Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. In one draft. Plus another first round pick. McDavid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVejMHdbpbQ Eichel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4UED9H-AwY Ludicrous.
  13. This thread's gonna be so bonerific. There's not much historical precedence for how bonerific this will be. The Blue Jackets just had three first round picks at 14th, 19th, and 27th overall, which netted them Alexander Wennberg ©, Kirby Reichel (LW), and Marko Dano (RW), respectively. That's a full line of first rounders, probably some mixture of their top line three years from now. But we're talking about a set of three draft picks that in good probability will end up looking like #2-5, #3-9, and #15-22. And that will add to our #12 Grigorenko, #14 Girgensens, #8 Ritstolainen, #16 Zadorov, and our #2 ______ , not to mention our bounty of 2nd rounders.
  14. TL;DR: Even when Bucky's right, he's dumb. http://www.buffalone...miller-20140520 Might as well have written:
  15. Yep. And the team that picks seventh is all like "There's a group of six guys up there, but then there's these two guys over here. They're who we want."
  16.
  17. He slaps it.
  18. Both of those moves would be good for Vancouver.
  19. Dodge unveiled the 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat: http://www.autoblog.com/2014/05/20/2015-dodge-challenger-srt-hellcat-official/ This is relevant to my interests.
  20. Fascinating. Also, congratulations on making that decision. What motivated you? What, as an officer in the British Army, do you want to do or work on? I personally do not have military experience, but I did consider it briefly, and many of my friends and family are veterans.
