That'd be pretty ######in' fun(ny) to bring the Otters in to show off McDavid to Buffalo fans during Tank MkII. He's likely not purchasing the Otters. I don't know of any OHL teams owned or affiliated with NHL teams. Plus Erie wouldn't fit the model of regionalization anyways- most of the Erie population is Penguins fans.

Puck Daddy's Summer of Disappointment Sabres Edition
IKnowPhysics replied to darksabre's topic in The Aud Club
Puck Daddy shows up with the insight, but as stated the moment and the fashion aren't strong. No Goal. Simply crushing to be cheated like that. The leaking of the The Slug. We didn't want to believe it was real. And then Larry Quinn's press conference came. And he said they we would like it better with the word mark. Which wasn't on the jersey. -
But the hope of not playing for Wang may inflate the Islanders' confidence some. I'm thinking that's a 3-5 point boost in the standings.

I knew someone was going to call out the last part. The "Buffalo Buffaloes" argument is just people being jelly and/or angry that their teams had to manufacture some mascot or icon- in our city, the Buffalo was our titular birthright. We own it. You want we should have a different mascot than the name of our city? Have Sabretooth. The author spells it out: it's a wonderfully clear and elegant representation:

I'm saying you should find the most crippled person you know and throw them through it into a pool. -

Do u think Buffalo has any interest in Kevin Hayes
IKnowPhysics replied to SabresBillsFan's topic in The Aud Club
From wiki: Marek Zagrapan was drafted in the first round and the Sabres signed him to an entry-level contract. He proceeded to play for Rochester and Portland, vastly underachieving. He failed to earn a spot with Buffalo, so he split for Europe. Buffalo is not awarded a compensatory pick, because they signed Zagrapan to a contract. In Kevin Hayes' case, he was drafted in the first round, and went to the NCAA, which delayed his requirement to be signed. When he graduated, he and the Blackhawks failed to agree to an entry-level contract, making Hayes a UFA as of midnight (I think) tonight. Because he went directly from 1st round selection to UFA, the Blackhawks are awarded a compensatory 2nd round pick. In this case, it's 54th overall. There's an expectation by hockey clubs that a player they select in the first round will agree to sign with them. If they do not, then they're out a first round draft pick, which is a considerable asset and could be especially damaging to a franchise that's trying to rebuild (not Chicago, obv). The estimated net loss of a first round pick and gain of a second round pick is estimated to be one or two second round picks or more, depending on how high that first pick is. That's still a hefty setback in asset management terms. In these recent cases of coveted NCAA players graduating and refusing to sign with their teams (see also Justin Schultz), it has been the decision of the player and not the decision of the team. The CBA in this case was designed to prevent a total loss of a first round pick because a single player decides to snub the team that had an unrequited belief in them. In the case of Hayes, PuckDaddy speculates on reasons why he may feel justified to bail on the Hawks: -

44 NHL equivalency points based on his last year in Hockey East. Sign him. Get him into camp. Get him into Rochester. Develop him. Then promote him or trade him. -
Dallas got a pass on the Mooterus. That means we get a pass on the Slug. Or else Dallas is cheating again.

OFF TOPIC Will the Bills and Sabres Shuffle Out of Buffalo?
IKnowPhysics replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Aud Club
It doesn't make any sense. Don't start a tire fire of anti-NFL or anti-stadium sentiment in the public or political climate at this juncture. It only encourages justification in the minds of prospective owners that want to move the team. And it encourages other NFL owners that have to ratify the sale to do so in favor of a prospective owner that wants to move the team. Shut your mouth. Let the sale happen. Let the NFL owners ratify the sale to an owner that keeps the team in town. Let the owner settle in and review the budget. See if the new owner even thinks a new stadium is required. Wait until he asks for money. Then start negotiations. You'll have much stronger leverage if you're negotiating with an owner that wants to keep the team in town. He should be spouting about how much of a crime it'd be for the team to move. And how the county will do everything in their power to work with the new franchise owner for the continued success of the franchise and the economy of the county. Encourage the NFL to resent the idea of moving a historic franchise out of its home town. It's high time the County Executive sucks ######, not ###### ######. -

I don't want to argue much about this, because giving Regier credit for next year's roster isn't accurate, but I do want to moderate this statement at least a little. Regier hired Devine and trained him. It also doesn't require a crystal ball to figure out the Islanders blow enough ass to give you a good draft pick- with the exception of the shortened 2012 season, they've finished bottom-five every since 2007.. (side note on Grigorenko: I don't care- no crimes committed, and he's moving forward just as the franchise is) Regier (and his moves) will have a lasting impact for a while that is simultaneous with the impact of Tim Murray's actions. Not naming names, people who give John Muckler much of the credit for building the '99 SC Finals team should be capable of thinking this way.

I got my Grade 10. I got 57, which is awesome. It's the best mark I've ever gotten without cheating. So I'm really happy. I can't believe it, still. I never thought I was gonna get my Grade 10 ever in my whole life. So now I can maybe even get my Grade 11, who knows?

You know the owner of the Islanders was going to make his grand exit not with a whimper, but with a Wang.
