Ugh. I get the not wanting to play three game in three nights- no pro hockey team should do that. But games played should remain equal. Too many games for western teams? Drop the games played for every team. Is compensating for travel fair? How does the league determine that exactly eight fewer games is a fair compensation for travel? Do we now really have to compare every team and player stat as per game now? I like that the A experiments with rules and technologies to make the game better, but I have a hard time believing that this makes the game better.

We should have offered more for Bo Callahan.

Yeah, if he's going to be canned, I'd rather he be canned for being bad at business than bad at hockey. He was a builder of the ACHA, so he was probably hired to do some business stuff. That's a lot more benign than pretending to be an assistant coach.

In my instance, I had always intended on upgrading from 8.1 to 10. Now, unless 10 is utter crap, I don't plan on upgrading OSes really ever.

I only installed 8.1 on my new desktop because it was the only MS operating system available at the time of the build and MS had already promised that upgrades to 10 would be free.

Ah, that's too bad. I picked up a copy of the draft preview, the one with EIchel in the Sabres jersey on the cover (there were two covers of that volume, Conner McLovin was on the other version). I carefully preserved that cover before I jammed the rest of it into my back pocket for reading at the draft. Trying to figure out what I should do with it.

I force-started the upgrade last night. Had to update graphics drivers to achieve max res. Had to alter sound device settings to get any output (surround 5.1 on the optical out failed output test, needed to drop to 2-channel high rate output). Now have run into the problem that mp3 format isn't recognized in the music app or windows media player- files are listed, but not playable due to unrecognized format. Files played fine in WMP on Windows 8. I hope we all didn't just fall into a DRM punji pit with this upgrade. I'll keep looking at it.

And this isn't a knock against ROR, but Pommer was never a up off the ice. No attitude. He may or may not have been a leader, but he was a professional.

Looking at his player usage, he's consistently been tasked with playing defensive minutes. He's responsible. His quality of teammates dropped substantially from NSH to DET to OTT, resulting in an expected drop in point production, but his quality of competition also dropped, which is a little alarming. He'll still play well defensively, but without good line mates, he could struggle to contribute depth scoring. He tops out at 45 points, but on this squad, it's difficult to see him posting more than 35 points as a bottom-six defensive forward.

I have a distaste for Fox Sports branding and production. MSG branding is tolerable (and the production is very much enhanced by our on- and off-camera crew). Watch Fox Sports PTDucks sometime. Brutal.

I know this feeling well. Every time I come home from travel, I pull the car cover off and it's like Christmas. I love my car.

Hell naw. I go high heat, low cook time to sear the outside of the burger and seal IN the flavor to a nice medium rare. There's a little drippage, but not much. Not as much loss as frying.

There's wind whispering that Pegula might start up a regional sports network, like Empire Sports Network, that would broadcast all non-national Sabres games, Bisons games, Bandits games, local college hockey and other college sports (UB football?), and possibly other regional teams like the Americans, in addition to covering the Bills (they wouldn't get NFL games, but could do interviews and coverage). That'd be a good job for Ted Black, as he was Sr VP/GM of FSN Pittsburgh with noted success. Here's a writeup from back in May: Pegula hired a well-known consultant to think through what to do with Sabres games and related sports media.

The porcelain's only there to prevent the crappy iron underneath from rusting. It's ok. Use a grill brush that has brass bristles, as it'd soft enough not to rip apart the porcelain. Do not use a metal scraper on porcelain.
