  1. I enjoy Pardon My Take. And I dabble in Spittin' Chiclets (sp). But I get the sense there's a lot of content there that I would not like.
  2. We keed, we keed, of course. But I am wondering whether -- come January -- there will be some hand wringing and head scratching about Mittelstadt around here and elsewhere. I'll say preemptively: There needn't be. I predict that the guy is going to struggle somewhat next season, and that he will also have some stretches of play that are spectacular. I'll stand by a prediction of 30 points.
  3. JBOT does love him some NCAA players. With each passing day, I get more and more nervous about the team potentially trading ROR. Not for any rational reason. Just because.
  4. https://www.pscp.tv/w/1jMJgqRrZEMKL conversation is at the ~16:45 mark. based on comments made prior in the segment, my sense is that Gates has hopes of crafting a comedy/sports content career a la Big Kat and PFT Commenter. further along the same line: leaving WGR could be a combination of pursuing a personal preference, leaving a job with no real opportunity to advance yourself, and pulling a bit of a stunt intended to launch your next creative venture.
  5. Quite randomly, saw a live stream on Twitter last night from an upstart DIY sports content maker — called Trainwreck Sports, iirc — in which Gates appeared. He stated there that the reason he looked for other work, and then the reason he left, was because the Bills selected Allen. He didn’t seem to be kidding atall. The hosts of the show, such as it was, were heartily amused. At one point, one of them said “that is the most millennial thing ever.”
  6. This is a really good point. A really good one. And I'm gonna say: Brandon not being around seems like the most logical reason that there's less ... OTA scuttlebutt out there. I did catch something on the Twitter about how Josh Allen is totally wow'ing everyone with his attitude, preparation, etc. It was published by Upstate News or something, and it turned out to be a report on something Chris Simms (?) said on a podcast. Simms, IIRC, is one of Allen's mentors/personal coaches, so, the guy's biased (he admitted as much) and, as a result, the report didn't mean much to me.
  7. There is no question about this. There's not even a competition.
  8. As in: You think he should? Or, as in: You think he will? I would not disagree with the former. I do disagree with the latter.
  9. Most translation/prediction factors assign about a .33 value to players from the Big 10. Middlestadt's 30 points in 34 games at Minnesota would have translated to 72 points over 82 games. If you factor 72 by .33, you'd be looking at about 23 points. While I am sure power play usage could up his numbers a bit, I am skeptical about the calls for him to post ~35-40 points (or more). He's likely going to struggle for good chunks of time next year. He'll probably be a healthy scratch for ~7 games or so. I'd say if he gets 30 points, that would be a very good rookie campaign.
  10. I agree wholeheartedly with the first paragraph above. Good Lord, I'd welcome the thread's return for that reason alone. (I have no interest in political talk on this board, and so would welcome the ability to say "hey - take that stuff to the politics thread.") On the second paragraph, the reality is that a few (two? one?) select OT subjects are uniquely divisive. I understood the mods' decision to try to manage the issue by eliminating the subject. I just don't think it's a realistic way of trying to manage the issue.
  11. Sure. That works too. Listen: I have no issue with the desire for political talk on this board. But I also know the rules. And I want my Bills thread re-opened. This is fine by me. I stepped foot in the politics thread once, maybe twice, in my entire time on the board. I avoided it like the goddamned plague. My sense: Those who want to talk politics on this board find value in that thread being open to all comers, even if it's dominated by a handful of devoted posters.
  12. The hell is going on. Re-open the goddamned Bills thread, please. And to those who got it shut down: Govern yourselves.
  13. This belongs here, too. Greg Brady Tweeted: That’s that for Tavares w/ the Isles. Have heard from far too many connected people that the only way JT was staying was a reaffirmed commitment to Weight as head coach. Isles will attempt to trade his rights before July 1.
  14. From a guy named Greg Brady: That’s that for Tavares w/ the Isles. Have heard from far too many connected people that the only way JT was staying was a reaffirmed commitment to Weight as head coach. Isles will attempt to trade his rights before July 1. Hmmm.
  15. to include, maybe, the nature of Lou's departure from Toronto? I am a little curious: If you were the Leafs, could you not figure out a way to pay Lou not to work for the next 2 months, so that he's not with another franchise maybe making use of intell that your franchise developed regarding the draft?
  16. appears so
  17. Holy sh1tballs.
  18. You may have seen me post to the effect that we spent an overnight -- a game night, as it turned out -- in Las Vegas in early April in connection with travels elsewhere. We stayed in the hotel that's basically connected to the arena. We were totally wow'd and charmed by the vibe, energy, and spirit surrounding the arena, the game, and so on.
  19. It'd be ... it'd be funking stooopid if he legit chose to leave strictly because the Bills chose Allen and he'd said he'd quit if that came to pass with Mayfield or Rosen still on the board. There's gotta be more at play. The most likely factor being that he was strongly considering a move anyway, for whatever reason(s).
  20. i'm usually one who's apt to get exercised about bad hits -- but that one didn't seem awful. a penalty, for sure. maybe it was the angle?
  21. Skinner as a major piece in a deal for ROR? Blechk. Was Hanifin drafted in Eichel's year? He should, in time, become a good top-4 d-man.
  22. ^ @BradleyGelber May 2 Replying to @HarrisonBacon 11+6=17. 17 year playoff drought ended. During the '17 season. Josh Allen selected (rd) 1 (#) 7. Will wear number 17. ++ And that is to say nothing of the significance of the #11 for Buffalo sports -- the Perreault lottery and number, Norwood's number.
