  1. Effing hell. How many ostensibly core players can Eichel not get along with?
  2. Historically, I think you're quite right. At the risk of opening a can of worms, I wonder whether today's young 'uns (read millenials and/or whatever comes after them) present ... a unique challenge in that regard.
  3. I haven't heard the interview. I was going off what Brawndo posted (above). A reporter saying that multiple sources have told him that two players don't get along is, or would be, significant.
  4. That squares with my recollection. But now we have Hamilton reporting that 15 and 90 legitimately do not get along. A somethingburger?
  5. Interesting intell from Hamilton. I wish I could hear it myself. I doubt I can dig it up in the archives. I never saw the social media content that was being talked about last winter -- something about Eichel being video'd mocking another teammate, evidently ROR. I never heard a description of what it was that Eichel was saying in the video. It now occurs to me: Was he doing a mopey, emo "I gotta be better" impersonation?
  6. Because this is a thread about how awesome it has been to watch him celebrate.
  7. I love that man. I love him.
  8. SCF thread is closed. Not sure where else to post that Ovechkin is celebrating the Cup like no one else has ever celebrated a title. Ever. Twitter is overwhelmed with Ovi awesomeness.
  9. God love you. That right there is testimony to why this board is worthwhile. I have stories of my own. And sorrows. What you say resonates with me.
  10. There’s a graphic out there on Twitter itemizing what round each player on the Caps was selected in. I wanna say all but 5 or 6 are round 1 picks. #culture
  11. that's ... that's a fair number. my heart says the over. my brain says the under (but not by much (which may mean the smarter money is on the over)).
  12. more and more, I feel like this would represent a genuinely successful rookie season for a somewhat slight 19 (yes, turning 20) year-old.
  13. I think this is right. For the life of me, I don't know why sportswriters have a role in the process, let alone the role.
  14. Can we tweak the thread title so that it's in re 2018-2019? :P
  15. I'm not sure where the "in game experience" thread has gotten off to. So I'll use this one. Get a load of this: The woman who does the voice-overs for the Vegas Knight pre-game productions is a local (Buffalo) actress -- Eileen Dugan. https://www.wgrz.com/article/news/local/wnyer-makes-her-stanley-cup-debut/71-559249341
  16. He was a true creative talent. A fascinating guy. A terrific storyteller. I read an interview of his within the last year or so in which the interviewer was discussing (or maybe alluding to) the fact that Bourdain had demons of depression that he could never quite shake. Bourdain said something about how he has the best life in the world, and that if he's not happy, it's really a failure of his imagination. I really, really wish he didn't believe that. Depression is a fukking motherfukker, and it does not care a fig about your life situation, station, etc. Rest in peace, sir.
  17. Here's to better days. (That's right. I invoked the Goo Goo Dolls and the 2007 playoff anthem.)
  18. a phenomenal talent. and a total diva.
  19. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a team as happy for one player — the captain to boot — as the Capitals were for Ovechkin.
  20. Also, true story: JUST figured out that the Big Cat looking awkward meme is NOT Jonah Hill. What is that from?
  21. ^^ haha - perfect. Sure you are. The only product of theirs that I recommend is Pardon My Take. It's fun and smart. PFT Commenter has done for sports what Stephen Colbert did for political discourse.
  22. I'm pretty sure they turned it into a week's worth of content on the show. There's a lot about Barstool -- and specifically the unabashed douche who runs the show there (is his name Portnoy?) -- that I know is not to my taste. But they're well on their way to surpassing ESPN, or at least being part of the wave that will crash over ESPN like a tsunami. It's how these things tend to work.
  23. The name of the show is a meta-joke that, yes, riffs off the names of two shows that are/were on the W.W.L. Have you listened to the show? They're not ripping off ESPN -- they are burying it and delivering a eulogy at its funeral.
