  1. Minus the vaccination part is huge. That memo from the NFL has made it clear that the league will not accommodate teams with outbreaks, it will not re-schedule games, it will assign a "loss" to a team with a COVID forfeit, and may levy fines against that team for lost revenues because of the cancelation. Hopefully that sort of penalty scheme will influence any "logic and stats guys" out there who are still on the fence.
  2. This is wild (ha - sorry). The Flames did not protect their captain?
  3. That's what I've read. He's sorta undersized for the role, though.
  4. My last three (which were the first three in a while): I think this may be high brow chick lit? I dunno. I found the writing exquisite and the main characters compelling. It's apparently being made into a show of some kind. So good. Sorta blew my mind when I realized what the premise was. Another wonderfully written book about a star-crossed couple, of sorts. Plenty of veiled socio-political commentary there as well - artfully delivered. I read this, and then immediately re-read it. I found it "easy reading," but not in the way that true "pulp" is easy reading. I struggled with this one initially. Maybe because I didn't realize it was a memoir? I think it starts off choppily, struggles to find its footing. But now that I'm half-way through, I see what the fuss is all about. What a well-told, personal story this is - one that everyone in American would do well to hear/read.
  5. It may just be semantics, but the idea that Buffalo will make a decision on Eichel's surgery is ... something.
  6. I remember this very specifically. He sort of said it in a way that involved the whole room.
  7. oh, man. that 4th one especially.
  8. I heard that the Pegula fail-son designed a hat or hats, and that they are hideous. Anyone have a link?
  9. I am criticizing the position you staked out as revisionist in nature - post hoc and flawed. That's what disagreement is. That's what debate is. Try to keep up, Sparky.
  10. Revisionist history. This video from ~:50 onward has footage that accurately depicts the guy.
  11. I tend to disagree that he lacks charisma. It's there. It can be a little flinty, but it's there. I can't find that video of his first visit to the Buffalo area - total dog and pony show. There was the footage of him kneeling down to meet a kid in a hospital (points for the kneel!), whose name was Jack, and Eichel, obviously unscripted, turns to the PSE entourage and brightly says, "hey, guys, his name's Jack too!" Very sweet. I'm calling it genuine. Excellent take. Rural California -v- greater Boston. Very different sorts of cats. But there's lots of ways to skin them, so to speak.
  12. This evocative memory made me think of this internet classic. But, like, why take the time to do that?
  13. except he's not good anymore?
  14. What in the fresh fu*k are the Oilers doing. Bizarre. I mean, we complain. And well we should. But imagine being an Oilers fan?
  15. Just dropping in to say: This is promising news.
  16. Now, now. Let’s see the beast master gap integrity.
  17. Lol - I think we may have differing definitions/criteria here.
  18. I think you misunderestimate the power that every ~10th person being an absolute ***** heel can have. Bills' games are always a paradigm, of sorts, for me on this topic. In the midst of 70,000 people, 7,000 as.sholes can do a LOT of damage. A lot.
  19. I think that's high. IMO, the distribution is closer to 10% (15%?), on either end of the spectrum -- those who suck and those who are aces. Most of us fall somewhere in that middle ground.
  20. No. It’s just the fact that Pegula’s still giving his 2 cents on any hockey talent. It’s ludacrisp.
  21. I'm good with it. Three years is fine as well.
