Seems to me that the days of WR's - burners or otherwise - taking time to become useful in the NFL are gone. I'm not sure whether that's because the NFL has adopted so many elements of the college game, but it seems like, every season, there are several very good rookie WR's - this season that includes Claypool, Jefferson, Davis (which sounds like a pretty good law firm name).

I think that is exactly it. It also strikes me: He may not be a very good recruiter. The Harbaughs both strike me as better fits in the NFL. As for this, the NCAA's findings of long-running, pervasive academic fraud at Chapel Hill tell part of that story.
-
It has certainly evolved to that point. It wasn't always that way, of course - at least not to this extreme. Common cause and sacrifice used to be something most Americans embraced without thinking too much about it.

Allen is responsible for Brown’s improved drop rate? Again, there’s nothing constructive I can say in response to that. The clip shows an audible that required the QB to be in sync with his WR in an instant. The result was an easy score. I’m certainly not here saying he’s elite. I’m saying he’s a very good WR2, in Daboll’s system. I think it’s fair to want someone in the 11 personnel who’s a bigger target. Davis looks to fit the part - what body control that kid has.

fo shizzle. His drop rate has been about the same as, say, Julio Jones for the time he's been in Buffalo. He's got good hands. In terms of route running, maybe I should qualify that by saying that he runs good routes for a guy who was more known as a speed guy. I also like his football IQ. He seems to see what the QB sees, and is therefore a reliable option on audibled pass plays. You're entitled to your opinion on him, of course.
-
I'm not sure what to tell you. When healthy, he has the speed needed to take the top off a defence (always an important thing to have). He's also a good to very good intermediate route runner. Dependable hands. Runs well in traffic. Adequate run blocker. I don't know the "x, y, z" thing well enough, but, to me, he's a very good #2 WR.

Nor is Beasley, IMO. Diggs is elite. Brown and Beasley complement the corps quite nicely by doing different things extremely well. Davis's ability to contribute as a mid-round rookie has been one of the nicer surprises of the season. Well, there's evidence to support the argument. I'm not sure it's mounting yet. We need time to pass in order for that to happen.

I hear you on enjoying this ride. I don't agree with the above. None of the top 3 WRs are big catch radius guys, nor IMO has the success of those WRs this year been based on catches where they were bailing out Allen. I reckon that Gabriel Davis, the rookie, has some of that to his game.

Unbelievable. He’s crashing through that “upside” ceiling he had when drafted. My only concern: Daboll being his OC seems very important, and I don’t think the Bills will be able to keep Daboll after this season.

I will give the nod to Bruce for football, for sure. But, yeah - it's Hasek atop that list, for me. Also, if OJ is knocking on a door - best not to open it - that guy comes in packing and hot. Was McAdoo really that good? I have no idea. I think that Tavares doesn't qualify because the sport is just too niche - even for the Buffalo market.

^ Checks out.

... Well, close to it, anyway.

I see your point, but, from a competitive balance standpoint, the 49ers would raise a hue and cry if they had to go east to play another game. I trust that it means something (a lot?) to west coast teams to be able to play in their home time zone.

OT - UB Bull Jaret Patterson has record day
That Aud Smell replied to Taro T's topic in The Aud Club
This is such a fun story -- I just wish it hadn't happened during COVID times -- there's a decent chance I would've been there to see it. -
Just win, baby. It's sorta fun to have a team that's good enough to play a seriously imperfect game, and still win by 10. Oh, and Anthony Lynn is a very good O-coordinator and, from what I hear and read, a very nice man. He should not, however, be an NFL head coach.

^ I’m indebted to you for reading far more than I did. I’ll go back to heavily discounting everything the guy posts.

[Offseason] Which was the worst best-selling album of the 80s?
That Aud Smell replied to Eleven's topic in The Aud Club
What is Thriller doing there? That album’s a masterpiece. Quincy Jones is a genius. -
This is my idea of fun.

This guy has squandered a lot of credibility with me since I started following him as a counter-weight to MSM coverage of the pandemic, but this Tweet thread seems to have some merit to it. ^ Lol at "squandered", as if the guy gives a sh1t that he's lost credibility with me, which the term "squandered" implies.

Hmm. Yes. A colour (and shade) of strength and intrigue.

A rare bird! I’m just goofin’ anyway. This thread was made by @Eleven, but was sorta made for @thewookie1

Okay. Let's talk about yellow. It's a primary colour, but I feel like it gets very little love. Have you ever heard someone say that their favourite colour is yellow? If you said "yes," either you're lying, or the person who said that to you was lying.
