Disappointing end to a fun season. And hey - at least the Chiefs proved themselves hatable. Go Bills!
-
Yeah - the Chiefs just aren’t hateable (hatable?). GO BILLS.
-
This team has me fairly cuckoo. I just put a deposit down on a pair of season tickets for 2021.
-
Ah - interesting. I must have read something about the inability to claim him off waivers. Your post led me to a report from NBC which relates as follows: A team could have claimed Ingram on waivers simply to keep him from, for example, the Bills. That happened in 2002, when Washington waived Deion Sanders from the reserve/retired list so that he could sign with the Raiders for the Super Bowl run. The Chargers claimed Sanders on waivers, a vindictive move by former Washington coach Marty Schottenheimer, whose hiring in Washington eventually prompted Sanders to retire.

That is really sad. And, yes - his dad died so young. May the Ullmark family be comforted.

I read that players like Ingram can't be signed by clubs still competing in this year's playoffs. ("like Ingram", as in waived recently by a team that just got bounced from the playoffs.)

Having seen Tua play this year, and at the obvious risk of being proven wrong, I'm just not sure what the scouts saw in him that was exceptional. Like, I seem to recall Mariota looking more impressive (explosive) as a young QB (and apologies for any insensitivity that comes from comparing Tua to an ethnically-similar QB (but they do seem like apt comparisons!)). The one thing that struck me was that Tua's release seems slow. But maybe that's just the weirdness of a left-handed QB influencing me. Is it his accuracy and decision making that were thought to be exceptional? I guess the latter could come along by leaps and bounds, and thereby improve his accuracy. That said, I recall seeing multiple throws of his that were just errant, awful throws (like a quick screen thrown behind the running back).

The world needs to stop giving that guy oxygen. Bayless, I mean. The worst.
-
It's true, of course, that these are unprecedented times. I'm just not sure the opt-out window would be re-opened to address this situation. If he were looking to take a personal leave - and the timing associated with that leave is protracted because of the pandemic - then he and the team (and maybe the league) would have some sorting out to do. I had expected some more context by this time today.
-
In that event, I feel like they would be back in the realm of how personal leaves for family medical emergencies are handled under the CBA/player's contract.
-
Hasn't the opt-out deadline passed for all NHL players? I recall something about that deadline being one date for the non-playoff teams, and then slightly later for the playoff teams. In all events, the dates were in late December 2020.
-
That is hopeful. And maybe even a little strange?

The "sleep on it" remark from RaKru is what is sticking with me. Because if there's an acute illness or immediate need with his family to which he must attend (wife, kids, parents (?)), then there's no sleeping on it -- off you go. Sleeping on it seems to imply other things.

Fine, fine. That dude just looked concussed after that hit - as much as anyone I can recall in an NFL game in recent memory (excepting those who were fully knocked out). Having looked at the Tweet and CBS article (a product of the same source), I have my doubts. I hope they’re being honest with themselves and each other on the “great news! No concussion!” stuff. OTOH, I recall Connolly’s persistent concussion symptoms ultimately being diagnosed as a neck problem.

Is there actual debate over whether Mahomes was concussed? Good Lord.

Has anyone already posted that the Sabres should continue to pipe in canned fan noise once the fans return? Nice buzz. -
