lost the VAN game, down to $2100. 4 games to choose from this week. @PHI MIN FLA @WPG Home against FLA on Sat afternoon, then @WPG Sunday afternoon is a brutal turnaround.

Or look at it this way.... Matt Moulson forced DD's hand. He's playing like the 30g scorer of years past, he needs top line minutes.

I have no problem with DDB's assessment of Reinhart's game. Take, for example, the OT play against CGY. I said it some other post... but the idea was that I would have like to see Reinhart move his feet instead of stand flat footed facing the wall looking for a pass. It's basic hockey, get puck, settle puck, head up, move feet. He could probably get away with that play in juniors, but it was a bad play in the NHL. That said, he's a much better skater than he has been, he just needs to use it more.. keep his speed up during a shift, less stopping and slowing down... more explosiveness. Truth be told, you could say that about a lot of players on this team, but Reinhart is a guy they're need to lean on while Eichel is out, so fair or not, the magnifying glass is on him.

Bylsma has finally seen the light... Moulson is playing on the top line with O'Reilly and Okposo. He deserves it.

A product of PIT winning the Cup?

Agree 100%. I can't believe they this up. They were supposed to have the reduced gear ready for the World Cup, but that fell through... then they were supposed to have the reduced pants ready for the start of the NHL season, but that was derailed as well.... who knows if we'll ever see it. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/30-thoughts-goalie-equipment-changes-tangled-debate/ "The tighter, more form-fitting pants will be worn…once everyone gets them. The hope is that’s in time for Wednesday. But it’s possible that doesn’t occur since Reebok/CCM ships from China and Bauer from Thailand. But goalies recognize this is going to happen early in the season."

I'm starting a part-time skate sharpening business out of my house (I work from home full-time anyway). No idea how to get started, any advice? Recently received a Sparx machine (got it for 1/2 price since I contributed to the kickstarter campaign a few years ago). Not trying to make a ton of money, but I do know a lot of possible clients (have two kids that play, and myself) and there are very few options for a good skate sharpening down here in southern Orange County, closest place is 15mi away.... so people have been asking me to do their skates. Anyway, I'm thinking I'll need business cards? Still trying to think of a name. Any good tools out there for tracking the financial side of it?

Maybe it was just gas.

Yeah, if there's one thing I've noticed this season, their passing is much improved... harder passes, more precise and less second guessing.... make the first read quick and execute with a hard crisp pass... they've stressed that in practice and it shows. All the top teams have superior puck movement.... never saw that with Lindy.

Yeah, it's very amatuerish. The Sedin's are still fun to watch, they generate so much offensive together, it's ridiculous. They're also very involved in the community and charities in VAN. They're great for the game, the NHL needs more players like them... calling them "sisters" is just ignorant and childish.

On second thought, Foligno's salary is 2.5m, so that trade only saves the Ducks 1.5m... they probably only want picks/prospects at this point... but who knows.... i'm not sure freeing up 1.5m gets Lindholm paid. Also, I think the only reason we ended up with Kulikov was because the Fowler deal fell through on day 1 at the draft. It could be that GMTM doesn't want Fowler at this point, but ANA is pushing him... if that's the case, advantage Sabres, let's give them a couple picks and nothing more.

GDT: Buffalo @ Vancouver, 10:00 PM ET, 10-20-2016

Moulson is due. -
Probably. I'd do Foligno, Bailey/Fasching and 2017 2nd (we have two).

Also, consider TOR held a 4-0 lead late into the second period. hahaahaa.... those guys! Good for him. He's 32 now and probably see's the writing on the wall, hope he finishes his career on a positive note.... I expect him to get moved at the deadline to a contender, somebody like ANA would be a perfect fit.

So the Laine vs Matthews matchup ends in OT with Matthew's missing on a breakaway and Laine going the other way to complete his hat trick by sniping the GW. He also had the game tying goal with under a minute to play. Matthew's finished with one assist.

Didn't Bylsma put 3 forwards on the ice for OT last season a few times? I think it was Kane Eichel with O'Reilly playing back a little. I just think on the road putting Gorges out there in case they lost the draw was a smart move. They won the draw and he wnet right to the bench. I have no problem with thay and I've seen other teams do the same.

$2200 ...need to bet the VAN game. BUF +120 VAN -140 I'll bet 1 unit ($100 to win $120) on BUF.
-
like this? ...I mean, how many guys would have just flopped to the ice in today's NHL to try and draw a penalty?
-
Well there was a lot of hype internally from the Sabres about getting to 92-95 points or whatever by Bylsma himself.... so with that, comes expectations on how well they need to play. Right now they aren't playing like a 92-95 point team, even if Eichel and Kane were in the lineup there would still be the same defensive breakdowns... sure maybe they score a few more goals or what have you, but I don't like the defensive breakdowns and turn overs... not very good hockey right now. They can't keep giving up 4-5 goals a game and expect to win most nights.

a few thoughts on that game... - Bad play by Risto to allow Tkachuk to get the shot off, but Lehner also needs to make that save. A minus Risto deserved. - That was not a penalty in OT. Reinhart needs to be stronger on the puck, this is the NHL, not beer league. O'Reilly also needed to stay with Monahan but he didn't and he walks in all alone on Lehner. One of my coaches used to say "the guy with out the puck works the hardest". In OT, both O'Reilly and McCabe were standing relatively still watching Reinhart with the puck. Sure Reinhart could've passed it over to O'Reilly in the corner, but maybe O'Reilly saw a guy coming and yelled "No!", maybe not, but either way Reinhart needs to stay on his feet there, he got caught standing still I'd like to see him move his feet, same for O'Reilly and McCabe, move your feet provide some puck support or do something to get open and call for it.

I'm fine with Grants minutes, the dump and chase and the 3-on-3. The 5-on-3 needs to be better, not enough pucks getting to the net, puck movement is too slow and sloppy, but it's a new unit who likely hasn't spent much time practicing it. Yes, on CGY's third goal Risto had the puck on his stick and again forced a pass up the boards right to a CGY player who sprung Tkachuk. Then instead of challenging Tkachuk, Risto backs off and for some reason is playing it like a 2-on-1 while Gorges is already covering the middle of the ice.
-
3 out of 4 points so far on the road trip minus Eichel and Kane... I'll take it. I put yesterday's loss on Lehner and partially on Risto turning the puck over (again) and then allowing the shot.

Hip check? That wasn't a hip check, actually not sure what that was... more like a shoulder check to the thigh?
