  1. It's just back spasms. I had them my junior year in college... painful, the worst is tying your skates. Some massage and muscle relaxants solved it rather quickly with no ill affects. It's not the type of injury he'll make worse by playing, just a pain management thing. They'll have him straightened out in no time.
  2. Sounds like you have a drinking problem.
  3. Again.... I expected Matthews to impress out of the gate. When his ELC expires, and he signs his max deal, he'll experience a sharp steady decline into oblivion.... I said this back in June: http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/24179-vesey-signs-with-rangers-huge-thread-now-moot/?view=findpost&p=837412 "WRT Matthews we'll see how it plays out. For the record, I predicted he would peak as a top 10 scorer in the league, he'll sign a franchise deal, and then the downward spiral will begin."
  4. As per local customs, I'll perform a burnt offering to the hockey Gods exactly 1 hour before to puck drop. The ceremonial ritual of burning hockey related fare will guarantee quick healing for injured players, fortuitous bounces of the puck and favorable officiating. Gretzkius 1 and 6:8-13 describe the traditional burnt offering. The hockey fanatics brought a bull, sheep, or goat, a male with no defect, and killed it at the entrance to the arena. The animal’s blood was drained, and the captain sprinkled blood around the ice surface. The animal was skinned and cut it into pieces, the intestines and legs washed, and the captain burned the pieces at center ice. The captain received the skin as a fee for his help. A turtledove or pigeon could also be sacrificed, although they weren’t skinned.
  5. so this happened.. https://twitter.com/mkmolnar/status/786376132341882880/video/1
  6. So that's it huh? Was a nice look back in Sabres history. Really enjoyed this thread! thanks Flagg.
  7. What's on second.
  8. Crosby missed 6 weeks (and 3 days) to a high ankle sprain in the middle of his 3rd season. He came back and picked up where he left off, I'm not too concerned about this dragging out the rest of the season.
  9. I don't know, kinda hard for the team not to be a little deflated out of the gate. At some point they'll rally, not sure that's tomorrow night.
  10. jesus christ
  11. Kane/Moulson/Okposo/Ennis need to produce early. PIT was .500 around Christmas last season IIRC.
  12. Right, they have x-ray equipment at the key bank hockey place
  13. They said 6-10 weeks for Lehner after his high ankle sprain.... so I would guess we'd be looking at sometime around the beginning of Dec, which mean he misses about 20-25 games.

  15. Think of it this way... if he misses 43 games, it won't count as an accrued season towards UFA status.
  16. Just some news to brighten everyone's day.... Vesey will be playing on the NYR top line with Stepan and Zucarello. http://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/hockey/news/rangers-jimmy-vesey-set-to-make-nhl-debut/
  17. Right.. let's keep it in perspective. An injury to a star player can serve as a rallying point for the team... they'll have the underdog mentality, every guy will need to step up his game to keep this thing move in the right direction. Eichel gets a chance to evaluate the game from the press box, maybe gains a greater appreciation for the game and comes back with renewed enthusiasm. Reinhart probably gets first crack at playing C, IMO he'll thrive in that spot, that alone will be fun to watch. Puck drops tomorrow night regardless, I, for one, am glad hockey season in back (and I get to change my avatar!).
  18. Looks almost identical to when Mogilny broke his leg in the playoffs...
  19. Are we only allowed to bet on Sabres games? Or all NHL games this week?
  20. Agree, normally in his situation you're talking about a break, not a sprain. The boot is extremely stiff so if you bend your leg back that way it puts tremendous pressure on the small bones of the leg above the ankle.
  21. He clearly reaches for his ankle not his knee. Hopefully nothing broke, but damn it looks bad.
  22. looking purely career goals scored, Matt Moulson by a mile
  23. I'll bet 3 chips Buffalo covers the over. wooooooo... this is fun! (pm me for free gambling advice)
