TRADE: Matt Hunwick and Conor Sheary to Buffalo per Friedman
pi2000 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Are we sure about the trading Hunwick piece? It just doesn't make any sense... why would PIT care if BUF trades Hunwick before the '19 draft? Is that stipulation even allowed in the CBA? It seems unfair. -

What Sabre will first attempt to corrupt innocent young Dahlin?
pi2000 replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
It will start with Eichel and Reinhart adding a 3rd seat to their bicycle built for two... a couple late nights watching bootleg swedish midget porn with Duffer and JBots... becoming a regular at the weekly coke party hosted by Bogo and Hammy... with RJ handing out bags of synthetic heroin wearing nothing but a latex jockstrap and a leash. Other than that he'll be fine. -

Poor Jack & Congratulate Thorny on his Marriage Thread

Can't wait for Jack's apathy to rub off on Sheary and Dahlin. They have no idea just how lazy they can become and still get regular shifts under Coach Housley. -

Nylander not participating in on-ice drills. Maybe he's part of the rumored O'Reilly deal and they don't want him to get injured?

IMO the majority of these mental health issues players are facing after retirement are mostly due to drug abuse (opioids, depressants and stimulants)... not head injuries. Post-addiction depression. It starts with opioids (painkillers), which are overly prescribed in general.. but are passed around like candy in the locker room. It's part of being a pro... medicate yourself or lose your job to somebody who's willing to medicate themselves. Mix in the rock-star lifestyle with copious amounts of party drugs, cocaine, etc... and oh by the way, you have get up at 8a for the gameday skate/practice... so you take an Ambien to come down off the high and get some sleep. Even if you're not using cocaine, taking a depressant/sleep aid is the only way to get any reasonable amount of rest after a the high of a game night. After years of abuse, the chemical makeup of your brain changes permanently. Post-addiction depression is real but IMO former players are just too proud to admit they're recovering addicts so they blame head injuries. You didn't hear about these head-injury issues for retired players in the 50's and 60's and 70's even tho the sport was much more violent back then, drug abuse wasn't an issue. It's a vicious cycle.. painkillers, party drugs, sleep meds... and the more of these player tribune articles I read... the more evidence there is.. and you're being naive if you think it's just the goons who have this problem. It's a widespread issue and one that the NHL needs to address for the long term benefit of the players. It starts with cutting back on opioids, perhaps banning them entirely in locker rooms, and handing out suspensions for cocaine use.

TRADE: Matt Hunwick and Conor Sheary to Buffalo per Friedman

I'll allow it. Sheary is nice add. -
The Kings have fantastic goalie coaches in their organization... they have a history of developing starters and quality backups... that's why he choose LA.

With the 2018 draft in our rearview mirror, it's time for us, Sabres Fans, to turn our attention to the 2019 draft and start thinking about what BUF needs to do to secure the best odds in the Jack Hughes lottery. Let's face it, Buffalo isn't winning the Cup this season. So it would be a disservice to try and finish anywhere but dead last as Jack Hughes is truly a once in a lifetime generational talent... not counting McDavid, Eichel and Matthews... and maybe Dahlin. So rev up your tank engines Sabres Fans and let's get this party started! IMO, the first step should be trading ROR.. better yet if they get a likely lottery pick in return. Moving him would open up a huge hole in the lineup, losing a PK and PP centerpiece, and faceoff genius. Nobody else can do those things as well as him. Probably good for about 10-12 additional losses with him out of the picture. Then sign a journeyman goaltender and make him the starter. Bury Mittlestadt, Guhle and any other promising young guns in Roch the entire season. That should be enough for another last place finish... I'm ready.

Ristolainen picking things up and putting them down
pi2000 replied to Eleven's topic in The Aud Club
Tire flipping is slow controlled movement which requires no agility or quickness. He should be on the ice working on quick feet, agility and hitting passed out of the zone. Part of what makes great players great is their ability to recognize their weaknesses and turn them into strengths. I fail to see how flipping massive heavy tires will make him improve his weaknesses. -
BUF misses out on yet another top coach... Cooper, Gallant, Babcock now Trotz. The list keeps growing... thanks Terry.

Ristolainen picking things up and putting them down
pi2000 replied to Eleven's topic in The Aud Club
He's already plenty strong, he needs to get quicker and more agile. Building muscle mass will have quite the opposite affect. He also needs to work on his passing and d-zone awareness. But go right ahead and flip some tires because that's a similar movement to nothing you would ever do on skates. -
I spoke briefly with ROR tonight. He said anything is possible when asked if he thinks he'll still be a Sabre come this weekend. But, fwiw, he did look awfully disheveled.. but he kinda always looks that way.

Sabres Prospect 3v3 Tourney, Season Ticket Holders Only

I'm on the west coast and there is considerable Dahlin hype... at least on par with the Eichel hype IIRC. -
I applaud your conviction, if nothing else.

That just looks like a back injury waiting to happen. Seems like there are much safer exercises that would focus more on hockey movement than lifting heavy objects. -
Maybe he signs for under $2mil and plays bottom 6.
-
Good for him, he's a good coach and deserves another shot. And it's probably because his contract with BUF ran out. why?

It sounds like Dahlin is obsessed with hockey, it defines him, while for Eichel hockey is just something that he does that he's very good at, but it's not the first thing he thinks about when he wakes up. For me, the most intriguing part I've heard about Dahlin is not the skating ability, or how he processes the game, but it's how he respects the game off the ice and fully dedicates himself to the sport. I hope that rubs off on some guys and makes the team better, vs the opposite where he slacks off because he's surrounded by underachievers. -

You judge character by a picture? Didn't know that. Sounds like this is all the evidence they need... case closed.
