The fact they won once out of 3 times they were dead last actually puts them on the lucky end.

Retro is the latest hotness (kids like it, haha)... so eventually some team is just going to have an organ player between whistles and whatnot.
-
I used to love that song until one of our rivals in college used it as their goal song and they rang up a 10 spot us... bordeline PTSD when I hear that tune these days.
-
I don't think his wife and kids are Republican? I don't really give a shat either way, but it seems like she's the one calling the shots these days. The more important question is wether or not Eichel is a Republican. We know what kind of pull he has...
-
I do wonder how long that offer is good for... might not make it back there this coming season.
-
I think they only give you $49 towards a new Eichel sweater. Which is a 20% savings or so, big whoop.

Housley is a dead man walking imo. His wife making moves in the Republican party I don't think jives with El Pegula. Dave Tippett would be nice.

I'd trade him in heartbeat as part of a larger package for an established winger Some combination of him, Risto, Nylander, Guhle, picks etc..... for somebody like a Johnny Hockey, -
There should be a Champions League... you win the league, then get the option to join the Champions League... however there would be a only 2 person league right now, haha.
-
Have had a few days now to fully digest the trade and explore it from all angles. I've moved past the initial shock, subsequent denial, anger and bargaining stages of grief... I'm now fully engulf in the depression phase.
-
Ryan Getzlaf would disagree haha.

I'm in. -
he should foot the bill to have all the jersey's changed.
-
yeah, clearly #9 on the bucket. not sure how i feel about this...
-
The Whalers had the best goal song... brass something or other. But yeah, I agree, get rid of the goal song and sound a siren or whatever... touchdowns tho.

Looking at those graphs... it appears those 3 metrics converge at the 70game mark? Meaning, if I understand correctly, that all 3 metrics are equivalent predictors at +70 games out? If that's true, shouldn't the standings (after 80 games) reflect the same... ie, GF% and CF% should be relatively equal as far as the standings go? You've mentioned a negative about GF% is that goals are much more rare events than shots. Would you agree that throughout a season a teams CF% doesn't not fluctuate as much (on a per game basis) than their GF%? If that's true, and CF% is a better predictor of future success.... shouldn't all the best CF% teams percolate up to the top of the standings by the end of the season?
-
I feel the same. It's going to be a few more years before anybody currently in Roch/college/sweden becomes a positive contributor in BUF.
-
My take is it's just a value chart... eg, Hutton's contract is high value... low cost for the amount of production. But it doesn't mean BUF got better as a team.... just that they have better "value" contracts. Which I guess is nice.
-
Okposo is untradeable right now... you won't get much of anything back and probably have to overpay somebody just to take on his contract.... .BUT... If Okposo can somehow turn it around (a big "if" IMO), then he certainly becomes a tradeable asset at the deadline for a playoff team... assuming of course BUF isn't sniffing a playoff spot at that point. I expect him to be locked to Eichel's wing to maximize his statistical potential, which will make him more attractive.
-
He just hasn't been the same since the head injury. Sad.

Carter Hutton signs with Sabres — $2.75MM x 3 years

If he can be a plus in the lockerroom, and stop some 1-on-0 chances, he'll be an improvement. -
Good for Tyler, glad he still has a career in the National league.
-
Good post Flagg, thanks for that. I have a better understanding of advanced stats and the role they play. My only argument is that for every season, going back forever, the league standings will almost always 100% align with goal differential. We don't see this same correlation with CorsiFor%. That said, wouldn't it be true that goal differential is a better predictor of future success than CF%?

I was being sarcastic. I know nothing.
