I think Risto is the same player he's always been. Physical, some offensive ability, but poor awareness and decision making in his own end. That said, all young defenseman struggle in their own end, but it's the lack of improvement in that area over the past 4 seasons that is a major red flag and for me. He has enough experience that he should've cleaned up that oart of his game, but he still makes way too many rookie type mistakes.

I've watched 3 full Kings games. They play hard, high effort level, but are mistake prone. If you can just hang around, not give them much, and capitalize on their inevitable mistakes, you'll have a good chance to beat them. That said, Krueger doesn't like to play that style, so I'm not too thrilled about their chances tonight on the backend of a back-to-back.

I think Ullmark's comment is misguided. Krueger is more on point, they didn't lose because they were bullied, they lost because they didn't capitalize on the PPs and they tried to get too cute with the puck. McCabe had a nice quote when asked about the physicality.... "that's hockey".

They're not trading Montour, that's absurd. They'll send Jokiharju down and put Bogo on LTIR when Montour is healthy.

If they had won the lottery and got McDavid, would they have been bad enough to win Dahlin? Would your rather have Eichel and Dahlib or McDavid and somebody like say Quinn Hughes?

The easy move is to put Bogo on LTIR and send Jokiharju down when Montour is ready. He doesn't need to clear waivers and he can play 25min a night in Roch while he continues to get stronger... he's only 20. There will.no doubt be more injuries on the blueline, so he'll likely be back sooner than later.

He plays D... he's tall for his age so he skates kinda upright. They guy who did the profiling made a few tweaks to the standard QUAD-0 to adjust for that. My kid described it as feeling more natural on the ice. We have pretty soft ice out here in southern California so 1/2" is a little too grippy most of the time. Myself, I switched to the 1/2" Fire ring a few years ago and I've been using it since. It's great for the soft ice.

Interesting read. My 13yo just had his profiled (QUAD-0) and switched from 1/2' to 5/8'... he loves the profile. My 15yo still uses 1/2", might have him try 5/8". We have a Sparx sharpener.

To keep things in perspective they've only played one team (PIT) inside the top 15 in the league. They are playing better but I'm not sure they can compete night in night out against the likes of BOS, TBL, TOR, CAR, WSH, etc...

This 3rd period is where I want to see them play better all around than in years past.
