It is what happens when they get scared of making mistakes. They get clumsy and lose touch squeezing their sticks too hard. What I noticed earlier in their losing streak was how passive they got in a leading position. This is totally on the coach and he must have approached the players in a really bad way for this to get this bad.

Drurys next victim might be Ryan Lindgren. He has lost his mind.

Draft Top 3 This Year, Win the Lottery Next Year
SabreFinn replied to JoeSchmoe's topic in The Aud Club
Colorado and Pittsburgh got lucky to get players like MacKinnon and Crosby that changed their culture. They got their cups. Toronto got Marner, Nylander and Matthews but they still won't get past the first round. Is it on the players or is it something else? What I am pointing at is that whoever is in charge for the Sabres has to change the culture in best possible way. There are several ways as we know and another rebuild is one possibility. I am not thinking we should sell players for draftpicks, except for those top picks we should change talent and draftpicks for players that hate to lose, that work hard and demand the same from their teammates. And probably overpay to keep them. But it has to be done right and this time with a professional GM. As I see it, It is still a risk to get caught in the acceptance of losing if we not get back on track fast. -

Draft Top 3 This Year, Win the Lottery Next Year

If we are in a position to draft top 2 by draftday, we should trade whatever needed to get both Martone and Misa. Those two on a line with Benson, and Helenius leading a second line together with Kulich and a defense with Dahlin and a group of big, hard stay at home defensmen is something that might make fans dreams come true. But it might take another 4-5 years. To me it requiers that we give away everything needed to get the draftpicks and then trade away every player needed to change the culture (hoping we can keep Dahlin). Then bring in some sort of misfits with attitude. As PerraultForever suggested in another thread. -
The Pettersson rumour was Friedman spitballing. But if they really was trading him I think Cozens and Byram would be suitable. He is one heck of a player when he is good, and we could give him better linemates than he has had recently. I think Dahlin could have a positive inpact on him also. 11milj is still a lot of money to hand out for a team where players lose their love for hockey, but I would take that chance.

Guns n' Roses in July, possibly Sting later the same month.

Should We Trade Our Number One Pick This Year?
SabreFinn replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
Amen to that. There should be more preassure on him instead of single players. He and Adams created this mess. And when thinking about it, a owner that is hiding from critics and sort of manipulates media, what kind of a leader is that? -

Someone just has to convince Mr Pegula it is what has to be done. And that he should hire a pro to do it, and stay out of the way himself. -
Rosén has not been rushed and pushed into something he isn't ready for. He seems to develop with small steps in the right direction. Just like it should be.

It might be the only way. -
It is time for Adams to wake up. A good trade for Montreal.

Should We Trade Our Number One Pick This Year?

Florida picked up Forsling from waivers, added Mikkola and Kulikov as free agents. It doesn't need to be something that special as long as they do their job. -

I would not trade a top 5 pick. There has to be other ways to make a winning team. -
Liked that they talked about the need of a culture change. The sad thing is that there is no one in management that is willing to do that.

Agree that Cozens has had games enough to show he can be center, and failed. Unfortunately those centers won't take us to playoffs and my point was that we have to sacrifice one or two rosterplayers and some draft picks to get what we really need. I have been thinking about this for awhile. Benson is not for trade imo, but it seems like coaches are having a hard time finding him a center. I honestly can't figure out what type of center he would benefit from playing with, but I think that is what we should target, and to me both Quinn and Cozens are worth trading to get that. But I rather ofcourse keep one of them. But I expect nothing with Coconut Kev as GM.

I agree. But who play 2C? I think McLoad is a good 3C, and the line with him, Zucker and Greenway was ok. Kulich should be sent back to Rochester to win games, since we can, and this loosing can't be improving him much. Krebs is not a 2C. The only alternative is a trade to fill that spot IMO. Then the next questions is who do we sacrifice to get what we need? Quinn? If we play Cozens on wing, Quinn is the odd man out. I don't like that. And I am having a hard time thinking we ge a quality 2C with only draftpicks and/or prospects we are willing to deal with, they want a decent player in return.

For some strange reason I had a line from the Springsteen song Rosalita in my head this morning. "Someday we'll look back on this and it will all seem funny." https://youtu.be/CYHGh6lmSbo?si=MaCCCVv-AF86TiLH Even the Boss trying to cheer me up.

1st Round Picks Since the Tank: Futile Drafting Got Us Here
SabreFinn replied to JoeSchmoe's topic in The Aud Club
This sure goes way back in time, but I do not think our drafting is the biggest reason. If things would be like in other NHL franchises this team would now be led by Eichel and Reinhard and young players could be developed properly. The whole Eichel situation should have been solved in a better way. ROR should not have lost his love for hockey. Instead, Pegula and his GMs has not been professional enough to turn things around and get the players the team really need to be competitive. They keep putting young players on the team and force them to take leadership roles that they aren't ready for. And the team ends up in a eight game loosing streak. -
They should send Kulich too.
