  1. Kind of funny to hear someone calling strbak our best defensive prospect with komarov, novikov, and Ryan Johnson in the group
  2. The reason I've seen top 6 as a need is because we have several players who are injury prone. If we add another guy that can at least play up (even a Zucker level addition), it adds insurance for when one of our current top (i.e. Quinn) inevitably gets hurt. If you trade one of our current top 6... well you are right where you started
  3. Say what you want about KA, but I feel like there is minimal actual information coming out of the sabres office. I don't think anyone saw the McLeod or malenstyn trades coming. In other words (regarding farabee/krebs): I'll believe it when I see it
  4. Love his podcast. I'm not sure if that's what you listen to him through. Him and Matthew Fairburn of the athletic do a Sabres podcast together... and I gotta say... I think it's by far the best out there. It's a relatively fun listen and the two are quite insightful. Link to their podcast for those that don't know about it: Edit: and for the record, it is a sabres focused podcast. There is not a ton of prospect talk except when relevant to the conversation
  5. Kris Baker (Sabres prospect guy) mentions Poltapov as a likely future sabre every chance he gets. Supposedly, there will be a fair amount of turnover in cska this year and he will likely have the chance to play up the lineup
  6. well, everyone was looking for the big splash signing..
  7. I think he will try to. But we all know how that ends up 😆 edit: to be clear, i mean that he ends up at the podium explaining to all of us how hard he tried
  8. Wonder if he is regretting buying out skinner. Usually do that with a plan in mind...
  9. Well you need to show some signs of life first before anyone will consider coming here. They probably could have had a bump last year when they were perceived as up and coming. But since they actually did worse this year and given their track record... signing FA is going to be hard. It's hard to feel bad for KA when he shot himself in the foot by not going after anyone last year.
  10. Is there a reason they don't invite all of the prospects (besides injury worry about players that could make the Sabres)?
  11. Potential value pick? Sidenote: I was on the wikipedia 2024 nhl entry draft page and I saw Miroslav Satan was taken a few picks ahead of Leenders. The Miro page linked to our own Miroslav Satan, so I did a bit of a double take. Turns out the Caps drafted Miro's son w/ pick 212. I didn't know that Miro had a son or that he was draft eligible!
  12. The yearly day where they get eliminated from playoff contention
  13. I don't mind them making the pick. Plus I like the idea of Helenius, seems like he would be a pretty good fit with his skillset. The issue, for me, has always been that they have too many picks that will be ready at roughly the same time. If you are going to make a trade, trade some of our current prospects b/c they can't all join the team at once. Hopefully KA has something cooking with the 2nd and/or current set of prospects...
  14. Return of the vegetable
  15. "Who do you think the Sabres will draft?" The best left handed D available. Add 'em to the stockpile!
  16. Excited for game 7. What a comeback, never thought the Oilers had it in them. Even if they lose after coming back, it has ended up being an interesting series
  17. Agreed, it's kind of silly. Clearly, they think they are getting some sort of advantage in making this exclusive to themselves. There may also be plans to develop further tools and/or add ons to the original software that they don't want other teams to have access to. Or maybe even integrate capfriendly with other forms of analysis. If thats the case (improving capfriendly with additional features), if capfriendly was public, they would turn around and sell these tools to the other teams.
  18. Their benefit, presumably, is depriving other teams access to this commonly used resource. Other teams had deals w/ capfriendly to use their tools.
  19. For the record, this was a joke
  20. This is a bit of a non sequitur, but sometimes I forget that Samuelsson is on the team
  21. Jeez. Unbelievable. Completely different player. He definitely has it in himself... Just need the right coach to unlock it.
  22. Guy has questionable hands when he's not catching fastballs from Josh Allen. But on the other hand they do desperately need to make the defense fear the long ball and mvs, if nothing else, is fast
  23. Lol. Well we are already paying him and he's good for development!
  24. The consensus seems to be that the plan is to have appert helping with the pp. I question if that would be a good fit. Appert was a goalie, at least Ellis had previous forward experience (even if it wasn't on the pp). I hope lindy is going to be very actively helping with the pp to avoid another Ellis type situation where you have someone who is a good coach not being placed in a position to succeed
