I would love to see Kane come to Buffalo. Look at the chemistry he had with DeBrincat. Put him on the right side with Mitts and Quinn and I guarantee you those two players develop and have great seasons. Adding Kane puts people in the seats and makes it a lot easier for this team to attract a goalie and some other FAs. This move would come from Terry.

It is not going to take Quinn or Peterka. The Hawks won’t have leverage. Kane is a UFA after the year.They want to stink for a few years. Probably like Johnson, Portillo, Bishop ( they will have to get to the cap floor) we can give them Bjork.😁a couple 2nds. If he says he is only coming to Buffalo then it is a Hall to Boston deal.

I wouldn’t expect to see much of him at development camp. If he was just medically cleared but has to gain strength back in his shoulder I doubt he does much on ice.

I think we all think we know but we really have no idea just how dysfunctional the Sabres were under Murray and Botts. Forton has done interviews where he said none of the area scouts would talk to each other and no one knew about the players the others were focusing on. Under Ralph we saw him alienate Taylor and the Amerks. The mess of the last decade has been earned by awful hires and leadership. I think we are on the right track. It truly sounds like everyone is working together and communicating on all levels. Analytics and scouting working hand in hand is terrific. When you can marry the two you get the best results. The prospect pool is stocked and now developing them is the key. Adams is serious about patience and doing this right and I like it. Hopefully this leads to 10-15 years of playoff runs to come.

Forton says that Seamus Kotyuk, the goalie development coach has a ton of connections in Finland with the teams and goalie coaches over there. Sounds like he might have had a hand in them focusing on Leinonen.

Forton said he played midget hockey and then jumped to the USHL and just took off the 2nd half of the year. Forton has a lot of connections at UCONN. Said he will go back to USHL next year but UCONN was considering bringing him in for this upcoming season so they will have to talk about it. Seems like a player that might take off offensively.

Did any team draft him in the CHL import draft and is he even allowed to come over and play?

Power, Quinn, Peterka, Krebs? , UPL?, Levi, Portillo, Johnson, Kisakov, Rosen, Bloom, Nadeau, Savoie, Östlund, Kulich and the rest of the draft class. There will be no shortage of talent to watch. Be interesting to see how many College and junior free agents they invite this year.

The WJCs in December will be fun. Kulich, Östlund, Rosen, Savoie, maybe Nadeau or Bloom and possibly a few others will make it a very interesting watch.

Why? With the Russian kid they said the Analytics dept had a first round grade on him and their in person viewings backed it up. Forton says the Analytics Dept notifies them when players pop in their models then the scouts dive in on those players. They were considering taking him at #28. Forton choked up talking about Adams and how he is brought everyone together and let people do their jobs and that everyone works together now. If the Analytics guys were down on him they wouldn’t have drafted him high. The Hockey News guide said he was injured this season so he was a bit of a mystery.

None of us know about him but kudos for them for getting their guy. They took the first goalie in the draft so they had their pick of all of them and thought he was the best so be it. No one knows how an 18 year old goalie will work out but if you believe in one then grab him. They should draft one every year so it is great that they got another one.

Adams said both Johnson and Portillo will be there. This will probably be the most talented group the Sabres have ever assembled.

Larionov is who I thought of too. I think Östlund could be special if he fills out. He has that computer like mind like Igor had. The Sportsnet guys really liked him as someone who makes everyone around him better.

The insiders on TSN said that the Hawks veterans didn’t like Dach’s attitude. That’s a big red flag to go along with his lack of production.

Yep. This is a prime example of what Adams talked about earlier today. He wants upside and projection. It’s not about what Östlund is today but what he is at 22-23 when he has filled out and matured. They are betting that at that point he will be dynamic when you combine an elite brain with a man’s body. Interesting to see him develop.

I only saw the Savoie one and he really liked it. I know he loves Kulich and Östlund seems like the kind of player he would be high on but I only saw the Savoie reaction.
