I have no idea what the Sabres will do this offseason but for me my most realistic offseason would be signing Freddy Andersen for 2 years and Ryan Graves for 4-5 years. Move on from Girgs, Hinny, UPL, VO, Bryson. See if Johnson can challenge Stillman for a 3rd pairing spot.

Johnson has no reason to sign here this late in the game. He could have walked to UFA and chose anywhere to play. He signed here because he liked the organization and how things are going within it. That wouldn’t have happened a few years ago.

I think Graves is the best fit OA. I know he is a lefty but he just checks so many boxes. Big, physical, strong defensively and on the PK. Has excelled on two high tempo transition teams (Avs, Devils) If he is not looking for Severson term then throw a pick at the Devils for his rights and lock him up.

My dad found the 2017 Hockey News draft preview at his place and gave it to me last night. Looking through it I was blown away by how many guys just never make it at all and how bad the rankings look 5-6 years later. They had Mitts 4th and Makar 5th. And nolan Patrick has to be one of the big draft busts of all time. Injuries just shredded his career. Just hope your scouts are good at their jobs. The last couple drafts are looking promising for Buffalo.

Is Will Borgen ready for a #4 role? Had a very good year in Seattle. He is the type of dman that would pair well with Power. Size, skating, defensively aware. Kind of like the Muel to Dahlin. I would trade for a legit top 4 D man and then trade for Freddie Andersen’s rights and sign him before free agency for a couple years if Carolina isn’t going to keep him.
