GDT: Buffalo vs. New Jersey Prospects Challenge, 7pm

I watched Fleming in warmup and he couldnât stop a beach ball. I was worried he would get shelled and then he had a great game. Remember though it was just a single game from an invitee. Panocha struggled and had a couple brutal giveaways but I still really like his overall package for a 7th round pick. Metsa is 24 but he is so smart and smooth. He will be a mainstay for the Akeemâs at the least. Johnson is really solid. I donât know what some are looking for. Both top 5 picks, Nemec and Reinbacher, didnât standout at all. It is hard for D to impress. Novikov has so much potential. He will be a Sabre in time. Rosen and Kulich are goal scoring gamebreakers. So impressed with Rosen. His ability to change the game with his feet and shot are great. Both of them are playing the game the right way too. Benson and Savoie are waterbugs who are all over the ice and the puck. Really exciting players to watch. Both compete and get their noses dirty. And Benson has the âItâ factor of great players where the puck follows them all around.â Neuchev really competes. He will struggle early in the AHL but I bet he has a breakout after Christmas. Kozak is a great 4th line centre. Faceoffs, PK, snarl, shot blocks. Kid is going to work his way into the Sabres down the line. Everytime I watch Cederqvist the takes a beating but it doesnât deter him. Interesting size-skill combo. Nadeauâs feet hurt him but he battles and competes and knows where to go to score. Kisakov will take more time but the skill is there. Really like Nicholas Savoieâs game. Much like Metsa he is so smart and calm with the puck never making bad decisions. He will push a couple D out and become a fixture on the Akeemâs blue line at some point this year. -

For a 2nd OA pick Nemec was not impressive in the least tonight. -

Nicholas Savoie with 2 assists. I will say again that Metsa and N Savoie were tremendous D depth additions to the organization -
Good point about Rosen. His smarts are a lot better then he has been given credit for. He sees the ice extremely well. His speed and shot make him a great prospect but his understanding of the game will push him further. He is also 2 drafts from Benson for those who wonder why he showed better. Give Benson another season and he will be dynamite at the pro level.

Metsa who won the Frozen Four and Nicholas Savoie who won a Memorial Cup at Quebec are two very nice depth adds to the organization. Panocha looks very solid for a 7th round pick and a year in the Q should do wonders. The D pipeline is starting to look promising. Novikov with some time and coaching in the A looks like he has real NHL potential. Johnson will play for a long time with his feet and brain. Strabek has the potential to be a longtime NHL dman.

Someone needs to get in Dahlinâs face tomorrow at Fanfest and find out what is going downđ

Apparently Seravalli is reporting that Buffalo and Colorado are both in negotiations with Vegas about Logan Thompson. Good ol Eklund reported Thompson wanted out of Vegas and today reported that Buffalo is closing in on a goalie. Could be nothing but I like Thompson and would feel more comfortable with him over UPL for sure. Thompson is making league minimum the next two years. I think a Levi/Thompson pairing would have a ton of potential.

I think his point was they should have been trying to trade back into the first round to draft Musty instead of Wahlberg. I trust this staff and who they have zeroed in on the last few drafts (Peterka, Kulich) And I thought Wahlberg looked really impressive in the 3 on 3 tournament. Musty would have been a nice story but they obviously like what they see in Wahlberg and what he can bring to the lineup down the road.
-
I enjoyed it. It is edited obviously geared to who is picked rather then the discussions about the players who they didnât pick. All I know is if Wahlberg turns out as well as Peterka and Kulich then the team is in great shape. You canât say Adams doesnât put the effort in at working the phones. I think they are in a good place as far as scouting, analytics and the integration of both to make collaborative decisions. The past 3 drafts are looking extremely promising.

So Wright can but Savoie canât. Sounds fair and well though out. Its literally a single day preventing Savoie and with Covid hitting he would have a strong case if he wanted to really push the issue.

Babcock might not make opening night. These dinosaurs need to be kept extinct. Bill Peters being hired in the WHL shows these guys will continue to get opportunities long after they deserve them any longer.

Going Saturday This is the most talented roster they have ever iced

They are better painters but their drawing is not badđ -
Funny you make this comparison. I was thinking the other day is Boston facing our 07 situation. Their top 2 centres walking out the door together: Bergeron, Krejci- Briere, Drury The Sabres still had good pieces but those 2 loses were too much. Boston still have solid pieces but it will be impossible for them to replace what those two meant to the team as players and leaders.

I envision him as our Marchand without the scumbag aspect. A top line workaholic with a high skill level.

Benson with a hat trick against Everett. Something tells me he is going to be not bad this season.đ

Yes. The prospect tournament is made up of North American junior and AHL talent. The kids playing in Europe and in college will not be there because their seasons are starting.
