Outside the Big 5 to me (Benson, Savoie, Kulich, Rosen, R. Johnson) Östlund, Novikov, Wahlberg, Strabek, Komarov,Poltapov, Jake Richard, Metsa, Mediema, Marajala, are the names that intrigue me the most this season in the vast world of Sabres prospects. If some of them pop this season then it opens up so many more possibilities for the team moving forward.

NHL Preseason. Benson played more games though

Appert will have a balancing act for sure. Kulich, Rosen, Kisakov, Neuchev, Cederqvist, Nadeau, Johnson, Novikov And Metsa will all need to play and develop all while having a surplus of talented vets as well. And Savoie will definitely get a conditioning stint as well.

He outscored Bedard So should Bedard go back to Juniors? Sometimes a player is ready. Right now Benson is ready. Can he handle the riggers of an entire season is to be determined but he has earned the right to start it.

Benson makes every line he is on better. He will help the Greenway Mitts line become much more productive. Skinner Tage Tuch is a known commodity.

Who is Vegas #7 or Colorado’s or TB’s or Boston’s or Toronto’s? This board needs to stop acting like Bryson is singlehandedly going to change the fortune of this team. Some of you have gotten so obsessed with your hate for him that it is skewing your bigger picture. I’m not even a fan of Bryson but I thought he looked better in preseason and if Granato feels he beat out the other guys to start the year at #7 then I just shrug my shoulders.

I really don’t care. Bryson is the 7th Dman and Stillman and Clague are still in the organization. Ryan Johnson, Metsa and Novikov will probably be better then all of them by mid season.

I just thought the whole setup by the NFL was unfair. Jags are there for an extra week and are fully adjusted to the schedule and the field. Oh Well. Just hope for the best for Milano.

We will see how the season goes but losing that game to Pitt like that might go a lot further for the coaches in getting the players to buy in then winning 5-0. They have a few days to iron out the kinks and get ready to start the season.

Between the returning players, the vet additions and the kids coming in (I’m going to include Kisakov in that group as he will be a regular player this year) they are stacked. Toker-Cooley should give them solid tending. I don’t remember them having this much talent in a long, long time.

I’m not reading too much into UPL being backup tonight. I think they are going with all 3 saying times have changed and you need 3 goalies now. Problem is I have more confidence in Toker and the little I have seen of Cooley than I do UPL. Maybe Adams surprises me and ship UPL to TB for a pick but I’m not holding my breath.

Living in Toronto I can tell you Toronto is the master of renovating their arenas and stadiums to mask the shortcomings on the ice and field😁

As I said it was an out of the box idea not one I think they will implement. Just a unique case where your 18 year old has pushed his way on the team and the 19 year old misses the AHL by a single day. If they were still in Winnipeg with James Patrick then I think it would be easier but with the move and the sh&tshow of the new organization I think they may look at different development paths.

A “Thinking outside the box” idea. What if the Sabres keep both of them for the season and platoon them like a goalie duo. This is all predicated on a healthy lineup of course but one plays the other rests and trains. You carry 2 goalies to open up the extra roster spot up front. This allows them both to develop at the NHL level without hitting the wall. You hope you get to a point in the season where both are ready to play every night.

They can only claim him on the waiver wire which is before he clears. If they claim him they have to keep him on the NHL roster. If they want to send him down they have to offer him back to Pitt first or else he has to clear thru waivers to go down.
