My takeaways: 1) I’ve really liked Stillman’s playthe first two games. Physical, making smart decisions, very solid 2) The Big 3 (Benson, Kulich and Rosen) all looked good 3) Levi was everything you wanted to see tonight but Cooley was really impressive too. He had terrific numbers in Milwaukee last season 4) Rochester should have a dynamite team this season. Such a great blend of talented vets and really good kids. Toker and Cooley should give them rock solid goaltending too. 5) Glad to have hockey back and no doubt the next decade is going to be a lot more fun then the past one

Adams better hurry up and send Benson down or he is going to make the top line with Skinner and Tage.

He’s been suspended a few times. Once in the NHL for trying to attack a fan and once in the WHL for making the team wear their equipment home on a long bus ride after a loss.

No it just means the team will need a new coach. Constantine was coaching the SJ Sharks in the mid 90s for god sakes. He was a hard ass coach back then. Why are they recycling these dinosaurs? Terrible way to start a new franchise.

The first two days of camp they ran those two lines and had JJ Cozens Rosen as a line as well. They will want to see how those lines play in a game so I fully expect those two lines get a look tomorrow.

Benson is the youngest but the most well rounded of the Big 4. His defensive game and instincts put him over the other 3 right now. If you look back at teenagers who were not top 2 picks that ended up sticking (Bergeron, ROR) their advanced defensive games are what allowed them to survive if the offence wasn’t clicking for them.

I could see him start the season with Tage and Skinner if they click in preseason. Benson is so good defensively and could get the puck to Tage and Skinner at the right times offensively. Skinner Tage Benson Greenway Mitts Tuch JJ Cozens Quinn (VO, Kulich,Rosen until he is back) would be a very balanced top 9. Do I think it is likely this year? Probably not but stranger things have happened and Benson is that good. He would be a great player to play with Tage.

Watching the extended highlights of the Broncos - Dolphins game and the Fins gave up a ton of yards to the Broncos but Denver kept shooting them selves in the foot. That backfield is very dangerous. They better have a great game plan to shutdown the run.

It was them. And I agree with others that they were annoying. I don’t like the announcer’s little saying “Tokarski is guarding the net” or a guy with a penalty is “boxed in”. Laughlin went out of his way 3 or 4 times to point out that JJ was just lucky to get that bank goal. Greenway was much better today then any point last year. He was skating much better, broke up 3 or 4 plays defensively, controlled the puck with his body and then made the right read to the point on Benson’s goal, was robbed blind point blank on the PP. I think some have just convinced themselves that he has to be a whipping boy so no matter how he looks they will revert back to last years criticism of him. And Benson looked really good playing with him and Jost. They want to make sure Benson is playing with NHL guys. He makes any line he is on better.

I don’t think so but I wouldn’t be surprised if he did. He is just so smooth and so intelligent out there. He can play with great players and make them better because he always knows when to get the puck to them at the right time. I predicted he makes it next season but I would like to see a couple games here with Tage and Skinner. I liked the Greenway Jost Benson line today.

Funny I was thinking exactly that during the game. He was a game changer today. Good for him. That defensive line were monsters today.

A preseason game with not a lot of regulars on either side. Greenway was very very impressive today. Really moving a lot better then last season. He looks healthy. The kids looked good overall. Benson isn’t going to be too far away. I think he makes the team next year. I liked Johnson and Novikov on the backend today.

Game is on NHL Network for those who get it. 1-0 Caps after one. Good period for the Sabres with lots of chances. Krebs, Greenway, JJ, Jost, Bryson and a whole bunch of kids. Comrie in net.

He is a college player (ND I think) who signed with the Marlies last year and with the Amerks this year. An AHL role player.

Rousek’s Spot is 13th forward Who can come in during injuries, kill penalties and fill in where needed in the bottoms 6. That is not the same spot Kulich or Rosen would fill. They would need to play with offensive players in offensive roles. They would have a shot if VO is shipped out and Kane not signed. I’m not pounding the table for or against Kane to Buffalo. I do believe the interest is real and he could be useful here. Why do people keep acting like this is 21 year old Kane personality wise? Guy is 34, he has grown up a lot in that time. He wouldn’t be negatively influencing anyone. Okposo and EJ will have the room locked down. Yes I think Pegula is interested. He is owner and President now. He has some influence. I would like the move if it means VO is on the way out. There are many factors at play here: 1) Quinn’s injury leaves a hole. Even if he is back in the new year he won’t be the same this season. 2) I’m sure Terry would like the HOFer from Buffalo in Sabres colours. 3) I think people underestimate how motivated Kane would be on ice to play for the Sabres 4) Adams was his roommate and knows him personally 5) Granato coached him in Chicago and raves about him. Skinner Tage Kane for a year would produce offence and allow them to spread the lineup out with Mitts and Tuch forming a line and JJ Cozens a third line. I know he doesn’t bring the defense people want but a motivated Kane for a year setting up Tage and Skinner would be a positive.

Kane would be the perfect signing if he was healthy now. Replace Quinn. Problem is he is probably ready around same time Quinn is. If he is ready earlier I could see them ship out VO and sign Kane

It doesn’t make sense. Mitts is playing that role now and wouldn’t cost assets nor the contract Zegras would want.
