Devon Levi watch, update: he's returning to college
Flashsabre replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
This has nothing to do with what is best for his development. This has to do with a section of fans who have “Jilted Lover Syndrome” over Cal Petersen and are triggered that those feelings might be bubbling again inside them. -
Devon Levi watch, update: he's returning to college

My problem isn’t that Levi is returning for one more year of college. My problem is we won’t be able to talk about anything he does next season because it will be sabotaged by the “None of it matters, he is not signing here, it is Cal Peterson 2.0” crowd. -
Erik Portillo has a chance to lead his team to a Frozen Four tournament championship. The kid is criminally underrated by Sabres fans. He is the MVP and best player on an All Star team and allows them to play their run and gun style like Fuhr did for the Oilers in the 80s. 6’6 and the vocal leader of his team. Kid has a bright future and we need to show him some love. Here is hoping for a Frozen Four Championship and then the Twin Towers, Power and Portillo joining the Sabres soon after.

Uh he didn’t win anything this year. His best friend he has played with since they were 5 is playing at NE. He never got to play in the Beanpot tournament. The season ended on his giveaway. His motivations maybe more then just making Sabres fans happy. -
Based on what?

Unless this guy is paying Burakowsky $15 million a year that lineup doesn’t get them to the cap floor. Going into next year with Anderson-UPL is a major failure. Anderson is shot. Get a real starting goalie. We have no idea of UPL will be any good or not.

I have said before that I had no problem with Murray's Moves, it was the execution that was the problem. Everyone cried over Lehner coming for a first because that first would have been Samsonov. Well, Caps are ready to cut bait with Samsonov. Getting a young 2 way centre, a young scoring winger who is tough, a tough top4 RHD and a starting goalie we’re big moves. They were just the wrong character to be impactful and pull the team together.

In the 1994 draft the Buffalo Sabres made a very interesting pick: Round 11 Pick 277 Shayne Wright 😁

I think the Sabres plan is to draft DelBelBelluz and Mirosnenchenko and put them on the same line just to drive Rayzer crazy 😂

And for all the worrywarts out there. If he goes back to college for one more year this isn’t a Cal Peterson situation. A guy who is plotting to get out of Buffalo doesn’t come on a Sabres fan’s podcast when he has nothing to gain from it. -

Yeah, you can tell he is very driven and dedicated to his craft. He isn’t one of the best young goalies because of god given ability. He is there because he has studied and grinded to get there. -

I listened to the interview with Levi. -it wasn’t just Levi, it was also his best friend who also plays at NE. They have played together since they were 5 or 6. -he doesn’t think size is an issue as a goalie if you are disciplined in your fundamentals. -looks to Saros in Nashville as an example -enjoyed his time at the Olympics. Picked brains of other Olympians as to how they got to be the best in their field -become quick buddies with Power over there. -seems to really have his head on his shoulders I wouldn’t be surprised if he heads back for one more year to play with his friend, play in the BeanPot and try to win in the Frozen Four. Going back won’t be an issue development wise. He will be getting a ton of shots and play every game. Sounds like he is enthused about playing for Buffalo. It wasn’t mentioned but he has a lot of connections there now. Cozens, Krebs, Quinn from WJCs and Power from Olympics. -

Sounds like some answers are coming tomorrow. -

Ben Meyers won’t come here. There really isn’t a Centre spot for him on the NHL team. I think Eakin’s spot goes to Asplund or Krebs who are centres playing the wing at the moment. His hometown team Minnesota could put him in the lineup and let him playoff games this season. And they need cheap talent with that cap mess they are about to be in. Livingstone from Minn St. is interesting. He is a RHD.

Kris Baker: possible Sabre college FA signings
Flashsabre replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Aud Club
Then a RHD or energy centre would be nice for org depth. -
Yeah but we have to sign Eakin to an extension first.😛 I think Quinn can be an 80 point player. A full year with Tuch and Skinner could get Tage there.

How does it work with roster numbers? If someone signs an ATO does that still count? I think Sabres are close to the 50 contract limit so outside of Power, Johnson, Levi, Portillo is there space to sign anyone else? -
Winnipeg and Comrie crapping the bed in Toronto. Why did they not play Comrie in Buffalo and play Hellebuyck in Toronto? And watching the Chicago- Florida game, Hawks might have an all time awful defence corps. Lomberg skates by their dmen like they were 2 pylons places at the blue line.

Another interesting UFA winger is Mikayev from the Leafs. Big, elite wheels, works his butt off.
-
Mason Marchment and Nichuskin are two interesting UFA wingers. Marchment is having a breakout offensive year in Florida. Brings size, toughness and compete. Nichuskin is a giant version of Hinny, will score 20+ this season. Both playing for good teams that probably won’t be able to afford them.
