  1. Yes, I forgot about Johnson. He would definitely be an option there too.
  2. Hughes- if the Sabres took two LHD with top 8 picks this board would literally implode into itself!! I think in this hypothetical scenario that Eklund and Guenther would be the two most likely guys available at 8 but Imwould also throw McTavish in there as a wildcard.
  3. Actually there isn’t much to tear down. But if you are moving Eichel, Reinhart and Risto it will feel that way.
  4. Yes but that doesn’t guarantee his NHL production. Different, players, different teams, different circumstances. I think he is a good player but I don’t think a single GM in the league would trade the 1 OA for him, especially after his health scare. For me, this team needs a tear down rebuild. They need more young assets, not just different ones. Keep the 1 OA and draft. Use the malcontents Eichel, Reinhart, Risto to go after more high end young pieces like Byfield or Rossi or whoever.
  5. That is personal opinion though. Gallant thinks he will be a superstar. Craig Button thinks he will be an impact dman for a decade. I personally think Power’s upside is greater then a Rossi or Quinn.
  6. It means Rossi and Quinn are similar tier prospects and Quinn isn’t fetching a 1 OA draft pick in a trade. I realize that some think Rossi is a God but reality is he is a 5’9 player without blazing speed and has just gone through serious medical issues.
  7. P-O-W-E-R, NO “S” It is not Eichels It is not Reinharts It is not Dahlins It is not Powers 😄
  8. No he is not. A 5’9 centre without blazing speed and a serious medical issue. He is in the same ballpark as Quinn and he isn’t fetching a 1 OA pick.
  9. No, absolutely not. Rossi might have serious issues from Covid. Maybe as a part as a package for Eichel with Boldy, Dumba, 1st but not straight up for the 1 OA.
  10. Not a straw man. Everyone says, “Hey let’s trade the 1 OA pick.” I’m asking For Who? Put some names to it since the 1OA never gets traded. What are people’s thoughts on a player worthy of trading the 1 OA for.
  11. https://www.nhl.com/news/owen-power-nhl-superstar-no-1-pick-2021-draft/c-325215508?tid=277548856
  12. Remember you can only draft who is available. The strength of the draft is the strength of the draft. I would love to draft Wayne Gretzky 1OA but there is no Wayne Gretzky in this draft (or any other draft). Can’t draft McDavid, or Crosby or Mario if they are not there. Can only hope to draft the best player out of the pool available for this year.
  13. Some interesting updates. The coaches from the WCs are probably Gallant and Nate Leaman, maybe Andre Tourigny as well. From the NHL they are probably hoping for Brind’Amour but Lane Lambert at the Isles would be a candidate too.
  14. So, who are these magical players that they would trade the 1OA pick for?
  15. I worry about upside. If he tops out as Nazem Kadri then that is disappointing for a top pick.

  17. So you can’t have more then one good LHD on your team now. Thanks, I think I get it.
  18. So, an example is an example. I mean if Eichel stays and next year the Sabres win the lottery are they going to say “We have one good RHC so we shouldn’t take Shane Wright.”
  19. He played the right side before. He can do it in the NHL. I mean in the 70s those amazing Habs teams had the Super 3 on the backend, Savard, Lapointe and Robinson. They were all LHD. They didn’t care, they just played them on either side and prospered greatly. If Power is the best player then take him and prosper.
  20. Cross out the one that doesn’t fit the narrative. NHL Central Scouting also have Power first. Whatever people want to say, post lottery the majority of things we see is Power at one and Power to Buffalo. Does that guarantee what Buffalo will do, no, but it just shows that views are forming around hockey.
  21. I’m reading this as “I don’t want us to take Power”😃
  22. NHL.com, Craig Button, Sportsnet, TSN. I call them pro hockey types rather then the startupscouting.com sites.
  23. Power is not a consensus in the same way McDavid or Dahlin was. At the same time I have not seen a single mock draft post lottery from pro hockey types that does not have Power going to Buffalo.
