Just to clarify, Lance isn’t saying those are the only 3 players they are debating for 1 OA. He talked to the Michigan goalies about the three players that will be top 10 picks in the draft that all play for Michigan. I think the real debate will be Power, Beniers or maybe Eklund. I don’t even know who the their European scout is at this point. Eklund hasn’t had much exposure this season over here. He didn’t play in the WJCs and was supposed to play in the WCs but got injured. Not many 5’10 LW go first overall. He doesn’t have the Patrick Kane level of skill to push him over the top. It is a weird draft and a weird year though so who knows.

They are bringing Quinn in as an equivalent to a QB Coach. He is just going to coach Jack.

What are the odds the Sabres don’t take a U of Michigan player with their 1st pick?

Spoiler Alert: We are not a good team.😀 I wouldn’t like that trade for Buffalo for a number of reasons. I was just stating that it wasn’t a terrible return, just not right for what the Sabres should be doing if they move Jack.

They break down some video on Power. They compare him to Mortez Seider. Some interesting stuff. State that he sacrifices some offence by being in motion in the offensive zone to open up options and space for forwards rather then staying stationary at the point to shoot more. Definitely thinks he needs another year in college/AHL in order to bring along his offensive game/dominate. He thinks Power has all the positive projectables but the offence hasn’t quite developed yet vs. A guy like Clarke that has the offence but the projectables like skating a dzone are lacking and that those are much tougher to correct.

No where in there does it say this is going to happen. It just sounds like them speculating as ,”Hey this might be a move to appease Jack.”

It’s not a bad return. Jones is a top pairing D. Elvis can solidify the net and you get pretty good piece at 5. Jones is 1 year from UFA, that is the biggest issue. The problem is what is the grand plan here? Those guys kind of keep your team status quo and if you are moving Reinhart and Risto, what is coming back for them. If you are moving Eichel, Reinhart, Risto, you have the bite the bullet and rebuild. Bring in as many good young pieces and picks as you can. You can’t half and half it and have success. I would much rather an Eichel return like LA: Byfield, #8,+, Minn:Boldy, Rossi,+ or Chicago: Dach, Reichel,#10. Reset your young core and build around that. Add young pieces for Reinhart and Risto and have a lot to build around. The fans are fed up with how things are going, the arena will be empty regardless. Might as well bite the bullet and try to build it right.

He is associate head coach so that might play into if a head coaching job is a step up and thus a promotion.

It comes from Haggarty and crew out of Boston and they don’t even say it is inside info, more speculation to appease Jack. The days of appeasing Jack are over.

Calling people Power stans is looking to divide. I’ve just noticed you have been getting heated with certain posters because they like Power.

Is this where we are at? Calling people names and bullying those that don’t agree with your draft choice. You are going to have a mental breakdown well before the draft. Remember that nothing any of us say or do changes who the Sabres draft.

This would be a great return for Jack. Dach and Cozens had great chemistry for a minute before Dach’s injury. Reichel can fly and has good chemistry with JJ. You would get a good player at 10 too. Draft Dach’s brother in the 2nd and you have a pair of big, physical forwards to move things forward.

This is my hope. Draft Power. Send him back to Michigan and let him go to the WJCs (where he will play with fellow Sabre Quentin Byfield😃)

Hughes- if the Sabres took two LHD with top 8 picks this board would literally implode into itself!! I think in this hypothetical scenario that Eklund and Guenther would be the two most likely guys available at 8 but Imwould also throw McTavish in there as a wildcard.

Yes but that doesn’t guarantee his NHL production. Different, players, different teams, different circumstances. I think he is a good player but I don’t think a single GM in the league would trade the 1 OA for him, especially after his health scare. For me, this team needs a tear down rebuild. They need more young assets, not just different ones. Keep the 1 OA and draft. Use the malcontents Eichel, Reinhart, Risto to go after more high end young pieces like Byfield or Rossi or whoever.

That is personal opinion though. Gallant thinks he will be a superstar. Craig Button thinks he will be an impact dman for a decade. I personally think Power’s upside is greater then a Rossi or Quinn.

It means Rossi and Quinn are similar tier prospects and Quinn isn’t fetching a 1 OA draft pick in a trade. I realize that some think Rossi is a God but reality is he is a 5’9 player without blazing speed and has just gone through serious medical issues.
