  1. No he is not. A 5’9 centre without blazing speed and a serious medical issue. He is in the same ballpark as Quinn and he isn’t fetching a 1 OA pick.
  2. No, absolutely not. Rossi might have serious issues from Covid. Maybe as a part as a package for Eichel with Boldy, Dumba, 1st but not straight up for the 1 OA.
  3. Not a straw man. Everyone says, “Hey let’s trade the 1 OA pick.” I’m asking For Who? Put some names to it since the 1OA never gets traded. What are people’s thoughts on a player worthy of trading the 1 OA for.

  5. Remember you can only draft who is available. The strength of the draft is the strength of the draft. I would love to draft Wayne Gretzky 1OA but there is no Wayne Gretzky in this draft (or any other draft). Can’t draft McDavid, or Crosby or Mario if they are not there. Can only hope to draft the best player out of the pool available for this year.
  6. Some interesting updates. The coaches from the WCs are probably Gallant and Nate Leaman, maybe Andre Tourigny as well. From the NHL they are probably hoping for Brind’Amour but Lane Lambert at the Isles would be a candidate too.
  7. So, who are these magical players that they would trade the 1OA pick for?
  8. I worry about upside. If he tops out as Nazem Kadri then that is disappointing for a top pick.

  10. So you can’t have more then one good LHD on your team now. Thanks, I think I get it.
  11. So, an example is an example. I mean if Eichel stays and next year the Sabres win the lottery are they going to say “We have one good RHC so we shouldn’t take Shane Wright.”
  12. He played the right side before. He can do it in the NHL. I mean in the 70s those amazing Habs teams had the Super 3 on the backend, Savard, Lapointe and Robinson. They were all LHD. They didn’t care, they just played them on either side and prospered greatly. If Power is the best player then take him and prosper.
  13. Cross out the one that doesn’t fit the narrative. NHL Central Scouting also have Power first. Whatever people want to say, post lottery the majority of things we see is Power at one and Power to Buffalo. Does that guarantee what Buffalo will do, no, but it just shows that views are forming around hockey.
  14. I’m reading this as “I don’t want us to take Power”😃
  15. NHL.com, Craig Button, Sportsnet, TSN. I call them pro hockey types rather then the startupscouting.com sites.
  16. Power is not a consensus in the same way McDavid or Dahlin was. At the same time I have not seen a single mock draft post lottery from pro hockey types that does not have Power going to Buffalo.
  17. I wouldn’t be thrilled if that was the return for just Jack. Villardi doesn’t impress me that much, average skater with serious injury history, Quick is a cap dump and I’m not as impressed with Kaliyev. One dimensional player and average skater. Why in the world would Buffalo be adding Risto and Victor? And I hate this thought process of “let’s not go for a top prospect, just settle for 3 lesser pieces to make up the difference.” “Sir you are not getting the Bugatti but here are three station wagons. Enjoy!”
  18. Personally I hope he goes back. I think he will develop more there next year then struggling to keep his head above water on a bad NHL team.
  19. Power did an interview a couple weeks ago with the Hockey News where he said he would really like to return to Michigan for next year. A lot of unfinished business with Frozen Fours and WJCs. Said he would listen to whoever drafted him but if it was his choice would go back to school for development and to finish some business.
  20. How does that quote prove they won’t take Power? Why do people think Power is a finished product? The kid looks 13. He is tall but needs to fill out his man strength. Once he gets that look out. He has as much upside as anyone.
  21. I don’t think anyone from this draft is ready to play right away. Drafting a player is step one. Developing is step 2 and that is something this team needs to improve. If it is Power, let him go back to Michigan, let him go to the WJCs. That would do wonders for his development. He isn’t a finished product by a long shot. The list of 18 year old dmen flourishing in the NHL is not a long one. If Power struggles in Buffalo at 18 all you have done is set back his development. He was great at the WCs but that is not against top NHL talent and that is not the grind of an 82 game schedule. He still needs to put on muscle.
  22. Beniers got fed all those minutes at the WJCs and didn’t really produce offensively. Didn’t do much at the WCs and wasn’t given a lot of ice time on a team that wasn’t filled with stars. Does that mean we better stay away from him?
